I have bought a brand new Amphibia and it works just great. I had mine down to 30 meters on several occasions diving here in the Red Sea. Just remember to ensure that (as with all dive watches) you set the crown good (tighten the crown). I put a little silicon grease inside the crown before setting. This is a really great wrist watch that keeps excellent time. The price is very good and will not break your bank account by any means.
Hi, watch looks great. Where did you order your tropic strap from? I'm getting an Amphibia for Christmas, was originally thinking of putting a mesh strap on, but I prefer the look of the tropic.
Very nice video great tutorial .P,s The first Amphibia I modded I managed to scratch the case with the metal tool so I bought a pack of guitar picks on amazon for £3 that come in 3 dif thicknesses and take the stress out of taking off the bezel fo ham fisted guys like me,
I bought a replacement Pepsi bezel for my Sailboat dial Amphibia. After I put on I decided it was too bright for the dial. I tried it on my blue submarine dial Komandurskie with the red star and to my surprise it fitted perfectly. It suits the watch so much and I get lots of admiring comments. I didn't know the the bezel would fit Amphibia and Komandurskie. So I am posting here to let other people know.
Ah I see where you are coming from! I got a Pepsi Bezel for my light blue dial Scuba Dude and I had the same problem. I changed the dial with a dark blue one and it became gorgeous
Michael Arntsen Thx for your interest. In the video I was using small drops of contact glue for the test fitting, believing that it would be pretty strong, but still possible to pry it off if needed. Actually it wasn’t strong at all; the insert came loose a couple of days later, possible due to the lack of contact area between the insert and the bezel. I could of course have “soaked” bezel and insert in contact glue, but as I still wanted to be able to take it off later, I ended up using blu-tack poster gum :) This is probably not what is recommended by the expert watch-modder for bullet proof insert fitting, but the gum makes sure you have a larger contact area, it is easy to work with and can probably be removed later. I applied a rather large volumen, pressed down the insert and removed the excess with a matchstick. I have NOT water tested this approach!
Esko Uusitalo Thanks. The original vintage Tropic 22mm strap came from another watch purchase, and is rather expensive. Replica's are being made but not in the same quality, look for the brand "Modena". I later put on a cheap shark mesh - looks quite 50' as well. +Рустам Дайрабаев Those two watches are not comparable :) While I enjoy my Vostok very much it isn’t really a high quality watch, compared to eg my vintage Rolex. One of the biggest issues I have with the Vostok is the efficiency of the automatic winding system that isn’t sufficient for my lifestyle, and I had to wind the Vostok almost every day to make sure it didn’t stop.
Skriv hvis du vil have mere info.
+TH BT Thanks. The watch is a vintage (ca 1984) Rolex Submariner model 5513 with the dial variation called "Maxi type V" - the last of the matte dials. Hej - tak for interessen. Du kan se billeder her: forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.php?313172-Noob-modder-first-Amphibia-kit-ordered-110916-w-Boris-bezels-and-Dagaz-inserts
Great modding,of your Vostok Amphibia 110,pleas can you helping me with bezel & my quastion is whete I can get a same bezel as is yours,so I can final get a perfect bezel for my Vostok Amphibia 060634. In advance thank you & great regards from Croatia/EUROPE.
12000peak The bezel is from ebay seller www.ebay.com/usr/boris_gvb - remember two types of bezels! One where the knurls go all the way to the case and the one I use that stops a little above. Can be important as the first type might touch the crown depending on the case model. Insert is from Dagaz / www.10watches.com Happy modding
Nope - the bezel is a traditional "friction" bezel, where the bezel is attached with a wire spring. It is only the friction between the wire and the case that control how tight the bezel turns. The friction bezel was standard even on Rolex into the 80's. I believe clicks was introduced with model 16800 in 1982, but models like 5513 kept their friction bezels until production ended. Rolex used a slightly more advanced friction system than just the wire called "auto-lock" where you press down on the bezel before you turn it. Pressing it down makes it a bit easier to turn, but even when not pressed down you can turn the bezel AND the bezel is still bi-directional! So clicks isn't mandatory to dive, think of the COMEX divers and Royal Navy :) "auto lock": i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa67/LD_album/Shop/bezel2copww7.jpg~original

Love the strap first time seeing basket weave that small. Great looking watch after the upgrades.
Beautiful transformation!
Love the result. Very cool.
Hi! Where did you buy this bezel? Thanks!
ah, what a lovely modding!
Hi, watch looks great. Where did you order your tropic strap from? I'm getting an Amphibia for Christmas, was originally thinking of putting a mesh strap on, but I prefer the look of the tropic.
So the Dagaz IDF insert 38/31,5 mm for Seiko watches will fit the Vostok bezel you have there?

Is there a reason you didn't glue the insert first? Before putting the bezel on the watch?
You are right - I should have glued the bezel first
Nice looking watch. I made one with a murphys bezel and dagaz insert.

hello where can i get a see through case back for this watch .tanks
Vostok ... the only watches you buy, to change the strap, the bezel, etc etc !
Lol
There's the Invicta Pro Diver, too. Lot of people seem to buy that specifically as a modding platform.
DI.FM in the background! Hah. Kind of sad what's happened to it recently though. Can't even listen to it in a Media Player anymore..
What's the watch on your wrist?
Vintage Rolex 5513 w. maxi 5 dial.
Witch model of Rolex you wear?
Unless he wants the specific reference model number
5513 maxi 5

How did you ordered the Amphibia with that custom dial? I only spotted the standard dial for the case style.
+karl os I don't think it is a custom dial. The watch is still available from zenitar on ebay.com, just search for "vostok 110916"
+OrsoLungo Ah, so the watch is not "originaly" sold. Is it possible to order the watch with a dial showing the date?
Красота
Nice. I'm gonna try to mod my Amphibia with a quartz movement. Yeah, somewhat sacrilege I know.
woow :-D sacrilege indeed :-) you have plans for the automatic movement? maybe mod it into an apple watch ;-) :-) ?
can you please tell me where you buy the plain bezel and the insert from??
