It won't hurt anything if you do. I recommend doing one side at a time when doing brake jobs. Once you are done one side and everything is back together then go to the other side and collapse that caliper. You will have less of a change of spilling brake fluid out of the master cylinder using this method. Hope this helps you out.
So what did you do? I can't get mine off either I even sprayed with PB blaster and hit tapped on them with a hammer first. When I went to do the first one I tried so hard it rounded the bolt!
You're pushing the pistons back in before opening the bleeder or removing the reservoir cap at the very least. If someone had topped up the fluid at some point and its already full, then pushing those pistons back in is going to cause damage.
We checked the brake fluid reservoir as we always do before performing this brake job. Yes, you can loosen the brake fluid reservoir cap to allow for an over filled brake reservoir. If you do one side of the vehicle at a time as shown you should be all set. Never had an issue in the 35+ years of doing this using this method.
Hope this video helped you out. Let us know if you were able to tackle this job on your own. Drop us a comment and we'll reply back!
This made it easy for me, a 63 yr old woman, to change mine. It was easy peasy. Thank you
Glad to hear this video has helped you out. Have a great day!

Thank you This video helped a lot...
Glad it helped
Great video thanks for the good explanation! A question though... Are rotors the same for 4x4 and 4x2 Rangers? I own a 2011 XLT 4x2. Thanks guys!
They should be different.
what did you use to lube up the caliper pins?
Brake caliper pin lube
Look I haven’t had a truck or car for long and was wondering is a 4 wheel drive have the same install process
You should be able to use the basic steps show in the video and apply them to your vehicle.
What’s the torque spec on the caliper screws that unloose the pads?
I currently do not have the specs available to me. You should be able to find it online.
can you use brake clean for the carb cleaner?
Yeah that will also take the oil off of the brake rotors.
Do I need to take my brake fluid cap off while depressing the brake cylinder?

saved me 100s
Thanks for watching
You didn’t even have the camera up close enough to show us how to even collaps the piston.
If that wasn’t good enough for you, probably need to find someone to do your brake job for you.
Thanks for checking out our video.
Mine are so rusted I can't get the 15mm off for the calipers.
They get rusty up here too.
Thanks for watching

This is a front wheel drive car, 2010 Ford Ranger is a real wheel drive car.
Thanks for watching.
Wrong this is rear wheel
I can't tell if this is a joke or if they don't know that Rangers have front discs and rear drums
And that it's a RWD Ranger instead of a 4WD
Not gonna clean those pins huh? 😁
They have been cleaned.
So you didn't happen to show how the old rotor came off, I'm guessing you had bout as much luck as I did
A lot of times we have to bang them off with a hammer to break them free. Hope the video helped you out. Happy New Year!
