This was so helpful! I’ve always been to embarrassed to ask my mother. The few times I’ve tried before, it was extremely painful and I started crying. This helped so much!! Thank you!!
You don't have to be embarrassed to tell to your mother! She also had the same thing and might understand how it feels. If it was really painful you putted it in incorrectly. Make sure you are comfortable after putting it in 2nd time.
I'm scared to use tampons but i want to start. Its just the scary part of it getting stuck. I'm use to pads..but the feeling of it being full feels disgusting lol! I want to try the tampons!! so i can swim etc

Once in middle school I left a box of pads in the washroom that said: “Free pads! Sorry no tampons -(My name I’m not giving out on the internet)” I got a TON of: “Thank you!” And “You saved my life!” But one girl put a tampon box in the same stall and we became great friends because I love sarcasm
Here are all the 9-13 year olds that are wondering when they are gonna get theirs. I didn't get mine until I was 15!!!!! If u r 9 asking when u r gonna get ur, it might be another 6 years!!! I'm happy I got mine late, because I never had to worry about whether I would bleed through my cute clothes!!
it's honestly highly uncommon to get it at 15. I got mine the first day of 6th grade, and my friends all started that year and my best friend started in 7th. I mean, you're so lucky to get it at that age but please guys ALWAYS BE PREPARED. no, don't carry those wimpy pantiliners, bring actual pads when you get around the age when it can start.
I got mine 3/4 of the way into the school year... In 5th grade. Now I'm in 8th and I've had my period for a while, and you never know. My sister got hers earlier then mine, and some girls I know got theirs the summer of 4th into 5th grade! So every girl is different and even now some girls in my grade don't have their periods.
After watching this I totally felt more comfortable and plus I felt more comfortable asking my mom for one. And it went great! And wish me good luck trying one for the first time 😄👍
Hey! I just want to say I watched these videos when I was just 12 and they are probably the most helpful guide! If you are just starting up, I RECOMMEND! I'm now nearly 15 and honestly, I don't think I would be using tampons if it weren't for this video! (Many of my friends don't, and I feel wearing them makes life so much easier! Looking back, I can't believe how Cheesy this is, but I just want to say thanks to BeingGirl! Great Videos! :) so Helpful!

Thank you so much❤️ I always feel very akward trying to talk to my mom about my period and stuff like that thank you for showing me! I just had a quick question (I know you discussed this already) but dose it sort of hurt when you put it in for the first time? And I heard if you go swimming while on your period it gets worse. Is that true?
JannaBananaTV Well, it depends on the girl. If the girl has a heavy flow, than it will get lighter in the water. If the girl has a light flow, than it will get heavy in the water.
I'm really scared about using a tampon. What if it gets stuck? I'm also really scared about going to my first gynecologist visit. What'll they do? Will my mom be in the room? Whatever they do to you, does it hurt? Do you get to pick if you get a male or female. Please someone answer this, I'm really scared.
Am I spoused to put the upper plastic part inside of my body and then press the insertion tube? Or just press the insertion tube without pushing the upper plastic part into my body? An answer would be so helpful to me for I am having trouble understanding this. Thank you.
I am 12 and started last year and promised I would never use one. Cuz it's only a week without swimming. I was wrong. I need to wear one next week and I get weak and I feel like I'm going to pass out and I don't know if I can do it! Any tips plz!!
I don't understand, if you put a tampon in but it doesn't fill up, is it stuck in there? A lot of people say you should only get light ones because if you try to tug it out and it isn't full, it won't come out! I'm scared about that! I don't want to put in a tampon towards the end of my period and it doesn't fill, so it won't come out, and I need to wear a tampon to gymnastics, because I've been wearing pads and I leaked through my leotard! I don't think anyone saw, but i can't just sit there and wait for a time where someone does see! Help me please! :0
Flitter Shy When the tampon is dry it is hard to pull out, but it's not impossible to pull out. When it's dry it may irritate you and there isn't enough blood to help it slide out. People are correct in saying you should use the lowest absorbency that works for you.
Thanks so much for replying ;) I managed to get one in at last, but took it out 1 hour after I used it! (Big mistake, I hurt so much!). But next time I'll think i'll try again with lite, because I used regular that time :)
If ur scared just use a little spray bottle I once put a tampon in without my period I was scared but nothing happened :) I just poured a bit of water in my vagina for the tampon tot absorb don't worry I'll be totally fine!!
Omg Thi video helped so much, im going on holiday next weekand my period is late so im having to wear a tampon. I was just sat in the bathroom crying. Having anxiety too i just worked that everything will go wrng. Thank you x

I bought tampax pearl regular for my first period and I got it! These videos really motivated me.. Don't worry girls it's a sich! It barely hurts just keep going.. When it's in you don't feel it at all! Change it when you think it's full to avoid tension when taking it out. Inbox me for any questions :)
This video was very helpful but I'm just super terrified of using one. Do you have any tips that can help me out? I want to start using them but I'm just really scared that I will put it in wrong or cut myself with it. Just the thought of putting something into my body that way scares me.
Hi Gia! There is no reason to be scared about using tampons. It is highly unlikely you would ever cut yourself because most applicators have soft rounded tips that would prevent this from happening. Just be sure to relax and be comfortable when trying to insert tampons and it should be an easy process. ~Your BeingGirl Experts
Hi. Um, so even with all the tips being girl has provided me, I have done them all but my body seems to reject the tampon. It hurts extremely when I try to put it in and it wont go in any further than just the tip. I use the cardboard applicator ones but I prefer the plastic. Thing is both types and even the smallest size seem to be rejected. And I leak through all my clothes. The blood goes to the side of my thigh rather than being absorbed. Thing is im on the swim team so I have to use tampos or quit. But I love swimming and tampons dont love me please please please help!!!
SailorMoonAMV I have made sure of that. Only once have I been able to get it in, and that was with a plastic applicator one. I tried it again and itbwas rejected.
I don't understand what you mean by rejected. If you managed to get in properly once you should be able to get it in again, it just takes practice. Do not use cardboard ones, they pinch
What I mean by rejected is that it hurts when I put it in, and if I do it slowly, it will not go in at all. It is just pushed out of me. My muscles almost seem to think its unhealthy or something. I dont know. I will use the plastic ones from now on and see if that helps.
Maddey Strayer this is the first time you have actually had to put anything into your vagina and it might just be yours is tight and needs to stretch a little (Im just guessing this may not be the case) In general, tampons are somewhat unhealthy - they mess with the natural balance and self cleaning properties of your vagina and stop the blood from leaving your body... so just be careful with them :) You can still use them and be safe if you follow all the instructions on the box
its ok your not hitting your pelvic bone. Be sure your putting it in at an angle. AND be sure your really relaxed. If you tense up it makes it very hard. and try to buy tampons for your body size. I would recommend using small one but its your choise. Hope this helped!
How do you know exactly were to put it? What if you put it in on the wrong hole? On a scale of 1/10 how much does it hurt when its your first time taking it out or putting it in? At what age should you start using them?
Uh, maybe you could put it in in your bedroom and then go wash your hands? That’s what I do when someone’s in the bathroom and I know they’ll be a while
I'm really scared of getting my period. I'm 12 and my family is full of girls and when they get their period they complain and it sounds like it hurts. I'm not very social with my family and I really don't wanna tell any of them about it because I'll be embarrassed and just the thought of going tampon or pad shopping is embarrassing especially when I have to go with someone I know will make the biggest deal out of it. I've had all the signs of starting my period soon and even my doctor said I should start within the next month or maybe even week! I really need help!
+Ana Kern Don't worry, it is completely normal. It does feel embarrassing to go tampon or pad shopping, but it really shouldn't be, because everyone knows what happens to girls. Besides, you're probably never going to see those people ever again. AND, if you exercise regularly, you won't complain as much as them (because you get menstrual cramps) because you won't hurt as much. Just try not to think about the cramp when you have it, or convince yourself that it's part of your imagination.
+Allie internet but there are so many other reasons I'm scared to start my period. My aunt recently got married and they live with us for now and he always teases me. I don't wanna tell my aunt but I feel like she's the only one that knows what I'm going through. She tells him EVERYTHING and I would want to die if she told him I started my period.
Don't be scared! Getting your period is a great thing! It shows that you're becoming a woman and don't be embarrassed to go pad or tampon shopping every girl and occasionally guys gets periods so they won't make fun of you. And for the pain it doesn't hurt that bad you might be like me and only get back pain you never know. :)
Thank Beinggirl!!! This is super helpful!!! I don't have my period but supposed to get it in two months so I want to be prepared. But my mom says that it is dangerous for an 11year old to use them. Is this really true?
lindsay wilim Yeah, I figured it out, If you're sitting on the toilet you have to go on a downward angle. I know its gross but you have to look you should be able to see a fairly large hole, that's the right one. The secrete though is to put it at a downward angle when your sitting on the toilet.
Tampax pearl sounds really good. I'm from Australia and I've tried looking for them but I can't seem to find Tampax pearl. Would you happen to know another good brand that is available in Australia?
Life would be easier if underwear with built in pads were sold in maybe... Ten packs? And they'd be washable so you buy one and your good to go, changing pads is a lot harder than changing underwear (personally) but maybe that's because I started wearing pads last night...
This probably sounds like the most weirdest thing but I had to set a timer for when I have to take out my tampon.Listen I just didn't want to get that TSS thing.
Girl in Blue: *I was really really nervous that they would get stuck* Girl in yellow: *That’s ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE* Me: Almost!? Chances are “PRETTY sLiM “ 😟!? Good grief .... how low are the odds?
I started my period a couple of months ago for the first time. How long should you wait to try a tampon? And if you want to buy them what should be the right size?
MollySings When you try a tampon for the first time is up to you (and sometimes your parent). It might be easier after at least a few periods so you understand your body more and know the difference between light, moderate and heavy flows. The first time you try a tampon it would be a good idea to try a slim one like Tampax Pearl Active Lites. (Sometimes it's hard to find lite tampons so look for regular absorbency ones that say something like sleek, slender or gentle glide.) Try it one on a day when you aren't rushed and you have a medium flow.
I think the recommendation is to wait until you're thirteen. (If you're already at least thirteen, you can use them whenever you want.) Tampax sells boxes with more than one absorbency in case you want to use trial and error to figure out which one is best for you.
I had a terrifying experience the first time I use a tampon. (It got stuck.) at homecoming i realized my pad needed to be changed and i didn't have another so the only thing I could use was a tampon. Well let's just say the applicator went in with it. (It was the cheap cardboard applicator.) my advice, just stick to pads
Omg thank you so much for this video .. My mom never wore tampons so she wanted me just to wear pads as well. I tried putting a tampon in but couldn't .. Now I figured out why I couldn't ... I didn't know you have to take the applicator out .. I thought it stayed in ........
LIES! LIES! LIES! When I was using a tampon in school some girl came in and I needed to open the tampon wrapper (Im using tampax pearl) and the wrapper was so loud! Not louder than pads but it sounds like you're reaching in to grab some potato chips out of that wrinkly bag. It haunts me to this day because everybody now thinks its always "that time of the month" for me.
Getting your period is normal. You shouldn't be embarrassed about it, especially because the only people who go into the bathroom are girls, and they understand.
Everybody has "their time of the month" at some point every month! And everyone uses pads and/or tampons and needs to change at school. It's sooo normal! No need to feel embarrassed. Don't pay attention.
I am on my second period and have a lot of sports and swimmimg,..etc. planned for the summer. I don't want to worry about wearing pads all the time, but I can't get over the weird feeling of inserting the tampon. What should I do?
So I've been having my period since 5th grade and I'm in 8th grade now and I got tired using pads all the damn time so I decided to use tampons today I remember watching being girl when I was in 5th grade and today I tried using a tampon in for the first time and I had a hard time so I put on this video and it was so much easier thanks!(:
I haven't started my period yet, and I'm 12. I'm kinda worried... I read that if your discharge is yellow or darker, you may have an infection. That's what is going on with me. I am too shy to go to a doctor or tell my mom. Other than all of that, this video was extremely helpful when it came to being nervous about my first period. I have one question though. How do I tell what my flow is? Thanks!
oh you'll totally know what your flow is hon. if it's heavy, you'll know, if it's light, it's pretty easy to tell. i'm a heavy/medium. if you find yourself having accidents a lot or if you have to change your pad every 2-4 hours, you're likely extra heavy. if you only have to change your pad once or twice a day, you're likely a light flow. girls flows change throughout the 5-7 days they have it though. for the first few hours on my first day, i'm super light, same for the final two days. the first day around bedtime and the second and third though i am heavy and then a ween into medium flow. you'll know when you finally get your period what flow you have. i was about 10 or 11 when i got my period, so i wouldn't worry about it!!
I'm getting the hang of inserting tampons but I still have a concern. I insert it ALL the way and then I take the applicator out. But after a few minutes I feel it a little bit. I told my aunt and she told me you did it right you just have to get used to it. I'm worried - is it true i have to get used to it or did I probably inserted it at a wrong angle ?
Seriously, I love this video and how it really helps girls for later and I know that this is just a small part of the whole video but um, did you say you sneaked in one of max's floaties? How come it has butterflies and patterns and stuff? And I swear I just saw the always logo on it. I am really sorry if this seems like I am trolling or being rude but I am just asking. I still like th video though.
I'm going on a huge hike but I'm 12 and I have periods now too! I don't want to ask my mom to use tampons because she said no I was too young which I agree but I can't go on the hike with a pad I need to use a tampon! Should I go behind her back and do it? If not should I tell her I can't go on that hike with a pad? If so will it kinda feel weird the first time putting in since nothing's ever gone in that hole? Thanks Being Girl!!
Wait so if you place the tampon inside what do you do with the string on the outside? By the way thank you guys for making this video it's very very helpful! :)
Help I'm going to school on Monday and I start dance so I need to use a tampon I'm scared that I will use the wrong absorbency on the wrong time because my flow varies and if my period comes on and off through out the day and it will be practically dry pulling it out any absorbency recommendations should I use the light and change more often or go regular I don't know what to do sorry for long story
So I'm going to a water park tomorrow and it's my second day. I've tried tampons before and haven't had very much success. Whenever I like sit down it always feels really uncomfortable I don't know if I'm putting it somewhere it's not supposed to be or what but it's not working. Help!
Thanks now i know how to insert a tampon, so when i get my period i can just use a tampon and ask my sister too. She wears tampons sometimes, but should j wear it after a year if having my period or i can wear it right away..please make more videos your advice helps a lot!;)
I'm not scared I have used a tampon before but when I put them in I can feel them they don't hurt everyone says there not in far enough I know that but how do I get it in right
I have a question 😁 I do intense sports which involves running and a lot of fitness. Do pads work? Will they leak and show through a white skirt/shorts? Are tampons better?
Every now and then. DO NOT wear white pants, if you are able too, because they will leak. But it's normal. Just make sure to change it a little more often since you're going to be running around.
Did it hurt like shit when you took it out. Because that happened to me yesterday when I used one for the first time and I don't think I wanna use one ever again.
i have a question you said in the video that never try to put a tampon in when you're not on your period, and I was wondering why? Like is it more prone to infection or what? Im just asking because I want to practice putting it in and taking it out before I get my period
I know it will be really hard, but just tell her! She will understand. It took me two days to tell my mom, but she took me to the store to buy my stuff and I felt way better afterwards!
This is so corny...but it's actually really helpful so thank you lmaoo
Felicidades
Can we just talk about how loud wrappers are. I'm sorry pads or tampons it sound like a crazy loud potato chip bag in a quiet place.
The slower you do the more sound there is. That's what I learned for myself...
meh, most girls have periods, its not a secret or something.
It sounds like that moment of silence and everyone around just doesn't make a peep and then you open a potato chip bag.
That's why I unwrap them at home. I put them in plastic baggies which is way quieter
Kassidy Gonzales omg that's a great idea

SailorMoonAMV thank you for the advice.

I can't get it in. I keep hitting my pelvic bone and it hurts. any tips?
Yea, i have had that same experience before, but i mastered it. Try making the tampon at a certain angle to help the tampon go in. :)
its ok your not hitting your pelvic bone. Be sure your putting it in at an angle. AND be sure your really relaxed. If you tense up it makes it very hard. and try to buy tampons for your body size. I would recommend using small one but its your choise. Hope this helped!
Um do you keep it hanging out? Just asking cause I’m nervous
How do you know exactly were to put it? What if you put it in on the wrong hole? On a scale of 1/10 how much does it hurt when its your first time taking it out or putting it in? At what age should you start using them?
Too bad my bathroom doors don't lock >.
same
Lilac Fields are u kidding me I don't even have a bathroom door
Lilac Fields really I feel bad 4 u
samez but am not on ma periods have not started
+Ana Kern starting your period isn't very scary. It only seems scary until the time you begin it, and then it's not scary anymore.
***** ok... what kind tho
Thank Beinggirl!!! This is super helpful!!! I don't have my period but supposed to get it in two months so I want to be prepared. But my mom says that it is dangerous for an 11year old to use them. Is this really true?
It's not dangerous at all.
I just did it and is it supposed to hurt for the first couple seconds?
I keep trying to put in a tampon, but it won't go in. I can't find the right "hole" but I can't please help.
Same with me! Did u figure it out yet cause if u did do u have any advice for me
lindsay wilim Yeah, I figured it out, If you're sitting on the toilet you have to go on a downward angle. I know its gross but you have to look you should be able to see a fairly large hole, that's the right one. The secrete though is to put it at a downward angle when your sitting on the toilet.
lindsay marie
If u have trouble finding the hole get a small hand held mirror and open your legs wide and look and you should be able to find it
Tampons are the best! You feel so clean and everything!:D I love them!:D
Tampax pearl sounds really good. I'm from Australia and I've tried looking for them but I can't seem to find Tampax pearl. Would you happen to know another good brand that is available in Australia?
That was a good video. Not good enough though! I'm still confused!
How do you get the the blue case off the tampon itself?
Life would be easier if underwear with built in pads were sold in maybe... Ten packs? And they'd be washable so you buy one and your good to go, changing pads is a lot harder than changing underwear (personally) but maybe that's because I started wearing pads last night...
Truuu
I'm gonna invent that.
+20thRainyDay. They actually do have those, they're called period panties lmao worst name ever but they work well
+20thRainyDay. They make them called Thinx
Wait changing underwear is harder than changing pads because then you have to take off your pants too
This probably sounds like the most weirdest thing but I had to set a timer for when I have to take out my tampon.Listen I just didn't want to get that TSS thing.
Thats kinds smart
yes lmao! i do the same thing
that horrifies me that you can get that
ForeverAlexis I do that same thing. Lol
ForeverAlexis but your a boy! 💁
Girl in Blue: *I was really really nervous that they would get stuck*
Girl in yellow: *That’s ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE*
Me: Almost!? Chances are “PRETTY sLiM “ 😟!?
Good grief .... how low are the odds?
I was getting really annoyed by the ads for this channel so I decided to check it out. Wow I sure am glad I did, let's just say that.
I was scared to take mine out, 3 years later... Still going good :D
It took me like 7 years to realize they’re actually adults and not actual 15 year old. They’re wearing wigs too omg 😭
Oh no! We have tips on how to correctly insert a tampon, this should help! www.beinggirl.com/article/how-to-use-a-tampon/
Omg thank you so much for this video .. My mom never wore tampons so she wanted me just to wear pads as well. I tried putting a tampon in but couldn't .. Now I figured out why I couldn't ... I didn't know you have to take the applicator out .. I thought it stayed in ........
Happy to help!
I’m so confused..do u have to change it every time u go to the toilet?
its sad i'm watching this at 23. i cannot figure out how to put this shit in without it hurting.
Briana R lol ! 18 I've had my period since I was 8, been wearing pads but still can't get the hang of it
Same I'm 12 tho
Hello my cis-woman,
trans-man, nonbinary pals
And everyone else that doesn't have periods but are here to learn/educate themselves!
use a pad ladies! safer and saves virginity
LIES! LIES!
OMG i know right! You described this perfectly! I thought I was the only one that thought this!
Could any of you girls answer my question I asked on the top of this I need to know! Thank you!
every girl has a time of the month, even if they don't have it yet, they'll be sorry when they do get it.
Does it hurt?
What are some concerns of them?
Im scareddd
Hey there! In my school, they removed ALL garbage cans... If I get it at school, where do I put in the applicator?
"im on my period and i need to go"
thats how.
589 Boys disliked this xP THEY DONT KNOW WHAT WE GO THRU!! xD
Am I the only one who got a tampon in perfectly on the first try :/
I am on my second period and have a lot of sports and swimmimg,..etc. planned for the summer. I don't want to worry about wearing pads all the time, but I can't get over the weird feeling of inserting the tampon. What should I do?
I'm actually glad that it was a tad bit cheesy. Made all the explaining a lot less awkward. Thanks guys!
Are used Tampax pearl active and I have a question. Should my leak guard braid stay inside or outside my body thanks
Is there a major difference between ubykotex and always tampon?
I just tried it and you have to loosen up and this video helped me so much thank you!
Thank you so much! That made a big difference in my views. I'm not as scared anymore!
This was the best advice i could ever get.
what about the decloration of independence
Ugh never mind I figured it out.
But when ur done with it, do you just flush it down the toilet?
I don't know how it feels because when my friends got it she look very tired and kinda sick. Should I be worried?
Is it suppose to hurt when I push the absorber in? Plz answer.
This was the most helpful tampon video on youtube! 2 thumbs up!
Wait so if you place the tampon inside what do you do with the string on the outside? By the way thank you guys for making this video it's very very helpful! :)
Shanacea Hankins you just leave the string outside
this legit helped me insert a tampon for the first time. thank you so much!
What age should I try and ask? And what cycle too?
I'm using tampons for the first time and it feels kinda weird and uncomfortable is that normal when first using them?
Just bought Tampax Pearl active lite, and I'm going to use it for the very first time.
Hope it went well!
Can u please give me advice on how to use them
Hi BeingGirl I haven't got my period yet but I am scared when it is going to happen. I am also scared if I start it during class!
Is it ok to use a regular straight away? Because I can't find any light applicator tampons in australia😕
What if I'm going swimming, will I have to change it?, and will the string break?, or will it leak through?? Please answer!!!!
A leak is possible but the string will not break so don't worry! If u are scared about leaking put a pantie liner on!
but what about the leak!!!!!! I can't leak, it will be embarrasing!!
If u leak u can try a thicker tampon. Example: if u use lite maybe u could switch to a regular!
thank you! Also, im going swimming tomorrow, and I just ended my period but im spotting a little bit.
I would recommend just wearing spandex or athletic shorts
I'm not scared I have used a tampon before but when I put them in I can feel them they don't hurt everyone says there not in far enough I know that but how do I get it in right
Do I have to wear one even when it's not that time of the month
No, only when you're on your period
I have a question 😁 I do intense sports which involves running and a lot of fitness. Do pads work? Will they leak and show through a white skirt/shorts? Are tampons better?
+Nicole Moore You should use tampons, but if you are not yet used to them, or they hurt, use a pad. It'll be a little harder to run around though
I have another question, if I use pads will there be leaks?
Every now and then. DO NOT wear white pants, if you are able too, because they will leak. But it's normal. Just make sure to change it a little more often since you're going to be running around.
+JetBlckMuke thank you for the answer
Did it hurt like shit when you took it out. Because that happened to me yesterday when I used one for the first time and I don't think I wanna use one ever again.
Thanks that was really useful. I haven't used a tampon for 5 months +. Is this normal because I am super nervous! ;) :-/
i have a question you said in the video that never try to put a tampon in when you're not on your period, and I was wondering why? Like is it more prone to infection or what? Im just asking because I want to practice putting it in and taking it out before I get my period
It will be hard to put in and really painful to take out because it will be dry.
This is the best video on periods and tampons seriously 👌🏼👍🏻👍🏻
I once ""tried"" a tampon! It was one of the worst pains I have ever had!!!!! I'm still trying and no success! Any advice?
I have swimming and I have not told my mom and don't plan on telling my mom I have my period so what do I do?
I know it will be really hard, but just tell her! She will understand. It took me two days to tell my mom, but she took me to the store to buy my stuff and I felt way better afterwards!
I am just using lights right now I'm worried about trying regular!!!!
Does it hurt the first time you use one?
If your thing is tight does it hurt to pull it out? ( because of how when it absorbs the blood it gets bigger ) ?
I am going to the beach with my friend and I'm really scared to wear tampons.. But I don't want to sit out.. Any advice?
