I’m hoping PSA Groupe develops a pure EV platform for use in their 5 brands... between Opel, Vauxhall, Citroen, Peugeot and DS there should be enough sales to make a pure EV platform cost effective. At least Peugeot’s design team has been getting on point lately. They have some of the better looking mainstream cars. I just wish they were available in the US!
They are already into it. In May 2016 they announced CMP (and the refresh of EMP2 allowing for PHEV). CMP, Common Module Platform, is the platform which holds actual 208/2008/DS3/Corsa/Mokka/C4, all B-segment (or pseudo C) in all their variants: petrol, diesel and electric. A month ago the announced eVMP (electric Vehicle Module Platform), a complete rework of EMP2 (that is for C and D segments) that makes it an electric platform that allows 60-100kWh battery packs between wheels (Tesla sandwich style) that still could hold a hybrid drivetrain, but somewhat compatible with some the elements of actual EMP2 (this reduces R&D costs). eVMP models will start in 2023.
@@CFG39 I don't agree at all. Bigger compromise could be not having a frunk (I am speculating, it still could be only for units with fossil engine, but look for the images of the eVMP platform, as they have been published by Stellantis, the merger of PSA & FCA). I think for a big manufacturer this a HUGE step and what matters is that it will deliver what we need as customers: cost effective so that we can buy their BEVs because they deliver good quality/performance/cost. This eVMP platform goes for 15-20 models of Stellantis models that actually sell more than 3 million units/year! Think of more half of them being BEV by 2024, and nearly all of them by 2026 if market demands so.
Ángel Domínguez when you design a platform for an ICE you have to make a decision on where you place the exhaust, driveshafts, transmissions, cooling systems, how high the hood has to be so the engine will fit, how long the nose has to be, etc. All those things negatively impact the design of the vehicle vs. a clean sheet EV platform that doesn’t have to make compromises to fit those things. The only thing that really impacts the design of an EV is pack size which dictates the wheelbase and floor height. The drive motors are so much smaller than an engine and transmission they can be much more easily packaged and there’s no driveshafts or exhaust plumbing dictating a tunnel running through the center of the car. You look at the Polestar 2 and you’ll see it’s got a tiny frunk and a big huge driveshaft tunnel even though it has no shaft. It’s possible eVMP will not have a drift shaft tunnel since it’s a FWD-based platform, but typically there’s still at least some raised tunnel for the exhaust to travel through. I honestly don’t understand why they’d take the CMP and make it into eVMP. CMP is already capable of being used as a hybrid or PHEV or BEV. eVMP needs to be distinctly EV.
Interesting. We're taking delivery of an orange e-2008 GT line in October. Very excited about our first EV. Will be interesting to see how it accommodates a family of two young children and two adults (195cm/6'4" and 159cm/5'2 - bet we'll miss the electric memory seats :-D) Test drove quite a few before we decided on this one (drove the petrol 2008 though). Seemed like the best car "to live with" after checking out Kona electric, eNiro, eSoul, Leaf and MG ZS. And I believe this exterior design will hold up a lot better than some of its East Asian competitors.
Hi,@@nadinet1224 . We got in October as promised and driven approx. 1500 km. We are loving it so far! Two baby seats in the back and still room for me up front. Keep in mind we're used to compact cars - no american SUVs here. But the design is clever and I don't feel cramped. We 'permanently' removed the boot floor (there are two) for extra room but it's good space for a stroller plus luggage anyway. Maybe a little slim for a holiday-packed car for four, but we'll see when we get there. The ride is excellent, as well as the seats, the ACC, noise level, tyres, looks and general quality feel. Not loving the piano-black interior details though, and miss the memory seats as expected. Fast charged once and that was a breeze - fast and easy. Congrats with your purchase!
Hi. How has the car been for you this year? I'm currently looking at this car as my first EV. Going to have for a good test drive in some days. Think it will be a good contender for us. Family of 3 that stops a lot during long travels 😅
Really enjoyed this reveiw. The real life tests, measurements and quirks make your reveiws much more informative than others I have seen. I have just received my 2008e GT-Line (in Glasgow) and you've helped me understand a lot of things I couldn't work out. Cheers!
@@AaronStarkLinux Probably some difference between the 18", 17" and 16". But it is a fair amount of sidewall on the 18"s too, so I guess it won't affect sound and ride all that much. Might make a tiny difference range-wise though. The one we're getting has 17" with summer tires and 16" with studless winter tires. Personally I prefer the look with 18 inch wheels. After all it is not a proper SUV anyway.
One serious drawback, put away the battery size, is the lack of towbar in the e-version, which is perfectly available in the ICE model. I need it for my bike platform and I really do not get it WHY the whole PSA group have decided so. Otherwise a lovely car, perfect all-arounder for just about anybody from a single to 2+2 family.
Flott video! Har kjørt rundt i e208 i ett døgn nå, og det er en utrolig morsom og spennende bil. Eneste jeg savnet er litt mere plass til både kropp og bagasje. 2008 ser ut til å levere det jeg er på jakt etter!:)
9:25 Is there only one climate control zone? I remember reading somewhere that the 208 only has one zone. If that’s the case, why does it show the temperature on both sides of the screen; what a waste of screen space!
7:00 According to the Peugeot price list you can’t get the e-2008 with electric seat adjustment. If you get the leather pack in the fossil versions you get power seats and some other things but it says leather seats on the electric version come without electric adjustment and massage (therefore they are a bit cheaper for the EV on some trim levels though). What a bummer! Did Peugeot really have to do this to EV customers? 🤬🤯
Yes, floor under seats in all eCMP PSA models is less that their fossil counterpart (because it is where part of the battery is placed), that's why they could not use the same electric adjustments
Ángel Domínguez Thanks for the info, this definitely makes sense. It’s a bummer they had to do it that way but it wouldn’t be a deal breaker for me. Edit: Just found out seats in Zoe don’t even have height adjustment 😤 At least PSA didn’t do as bad!
With a start price at 267K nok (27K ish Euros) You REALLY have to live with alot of hard plastic. I mean that is a cheap cheap car. the Xpeng G3 begins at 358K NOK wich is 90K nok difference (9kish euros) And even that has alot of hard plastic all over. This car is a very very nice entry model for the electric market and it is a bit "suv" like. Apparently the people already owning it are very happy since it supports 100KW fast charge and 11KW home charging.
It's not listed as an option anywhere that I can see, and I briefly spoke to a local dealer also mentioning having tried the Polestar 2 in large part due to it having a trailer hitch - I think he'd have mentioned it if it was a "secret" option on the e2008.
@@mjk8019 It has to be approved and specified for the car. Anybody can bolt in a hook, but then risking responsibility and insurance issues. It is general issue for most EV's that they are not approved for trailing hooks. New Kona can take 300Kg and all teslas mus be preordered with the hook. But those are the options. I just read the 50% of Cars in Copenhagen area have a hook, it means that a lot of people (myself included) will not buy and affordable EV until it has an approved hook.
All-electric vehicles (EVs) have an electric motor instead of an internal combustion engine. The vehicle uses a large traction battery pack to power the electric motor and must be plugged in to a charging station or wall outlet to charge.
We traveled 1750km this summer in Norway with this car, and we were 3 adults and 2 children the age of 2, with no problems at all.

Thank you Bjorn! This is my next car after 2018 Ioniq
This video made my day:) One thousand thank you for creating this very informative video, the video helped me very much. Keep it up my brother:)

I like the car but with 16" wheels much better.
