I took a year off for a baby too and am gearing up to get back into it. I started getting discouraged seeing all the scams out there and wondering if there is still space for real writers. Glad to see you still managed to make over 100k even with the break Carrie! I also tried Fiverr for a little under 2 years but only got to make $10k. Everyone’s path will be different for sure because of the kind of work you do on the platform. I was offering art and it was hard to make more money due to it taking me over 3-14 days to finish an artwork while on the other hand my gigs were not being pushed whenever I raise the prices. So in my case working out of Fiverr is the go since I tend to get paid more. But still gonna leave my gigs live just in case Oh and Yep, that adds up.
That totally makes sense! Yep, there are so many factors that play into pricing, and it’s not a one-size-fits-all thing. Like you said, your creative timeline for that work looks really different than mine. Makes sense why you’d have more luck in other places that may not be so timeline-heavy. Good luck! And congrats on making it to $10k - that’s nothing to sneeze at!
YEP! That adds up, I was thinking of starting my Fiverr journey again. the first person that came to my mind was you. So watching this made me more motivated to work hard. Love these videos.
Yep! that adds up! Thank you for providing this information. I'm on Fiverr as well and debate if I want to continue on thie platform. I'm working to transition to a full on copywriter.
Yup, that adds up! ❤ I have to say you’re the most down to earth person I’ve come across on RUclips on the topic of copywriting. Thank you so much for sharing your story and passion for what you do ❤ I’m a social worker/therapist working towards getting licensed (LCSW) so I can eventually open my own private practice. I fell into the copywriting rabbit hole because I wanted to learn how market myself to future clients. But the more I learn about it, the more I like it. It got me thinking about writing copy for other therapists as well. I am bilingual so I’d love to also write copy in Spanish and include culturally competent writing to help raise awareness of the importance of mental health within the Latin American community. I’d love to know your thoughts on going after a niche within copywriting like that!
Yep! That adds up! I had a very good poster design business on fiverr after covid everything is down now. I started doing jobs and now trying to make my fiver profile live agai now. and your videos helped me alot. Thanks for putting so much effort in your videos.
Yep, that adds up! Always love your transparency ♡ I had the best time (financially, anyway) in my copywriting business this month with both Fiverr and orders through my personal site. Your videos are a huge inspiration to me!
Yep! That adds up! I'm going to post my first gig soon -- I'd love to make freelancing a full time thing for myself after college! Your videos are SOOOO helpful!
Hello Carrie Blogger, cool last name, YES IT ADDS UP !! I'm from the ..." I didn't know what copywriting was camp" until a few weeks ago.Since then, I've listened to a lot of success people. I loved everything about your video, extremely informative funny and you're super smart !!! Thank you so much . I'm very grateful!!
Yep! That adds up! One of the best things you can do with success, is share ideas and motivation in service of others. Thank you for making this video!
You too! 🚀 It’s so funny to me that a video that literally opens with a clip of me slamming my rolly chair into the table gets the ‘wisdom’ stamp of approval from Darsh 😅 but I so appreciate it!
Yep, that adds up. I just started on Fiverr this year. No orders yet, I'm still optimising my gigs. I love watching your videos. Thank you for doing this.
Yep! That adds up! I have been binging (this word always looks like it's spelled wrong...) your videos for the last couple days and am SO GLAD that you uploaded a new one! I do have a question: how popular are your other gigs? Obviously website writing is a huge one, but how do the others stack up? That would be cool to see, too. If I had to guess I would say maybe product descriptions are your second most popular? (Also just saying that because I just watched your Amazon listing video 😂)
Website content was the highest earner in part because it had the highest word count rate. (I just very recently synced up the same price rate across all gigs.) Quantity or popularity-wise, I’d say it’s a tie between website content, product descriptions, and emails. Then probably about pages, Amazon listings, and blogs. But that’s not a firm, constant order. Like I’ve mentioned in previous videos, individual gigs have always peaked and dipped in popularity. So I’ll randomly go through a few months of lots of email writing, then description orders will surge for a bit, then taken over by lots of about pages, then…
Yep! That adds up. I very desperately want to do what you do. I'll definitely be watching all of your videos and I will do my best to practice. I think that will be a very important thing for me. I definitely want to be a copywriter. I will practice practice practice!
Yep. That adds up! Thanks for this video, Carrie! I actually booked a freelancing consultation with you in Sept. 2021 and have been following your journey since. I've been freelance copywriting on Fiverr and, thanks to your help, earned TRS several months ago! I'm hoping to move off platform a bit this year and was curious if you're planning to share how you obtained retainer clients. Totally understand if not! Regardless, thanks for the transparency and all you do! :)
Yessssssss!! Way to go Christina!! I just knewwww you’d be one of the ones to get there!! 🙌 I’m not really planning to go into detail about that because… ifykyk… but they all reached out to me about turning our initial work relationship into a really hands-on extension of their team and they wanted to see if I would be available to tackle a lot of different things for them with more direct contact and flexibility. That all is, of course, far beyond the limits of what Fiverr’s communication and payment tools could facilitate - so we needed to ‘build’ and manage it directly in order to make it work within their company structures. Is that answer clear as mud?
@@carrieblogger Lol yes, that makes sense! While I appreciate the convenience of Fiverr, it's definitely a bit limiting (plus that 20% cut can be brutal!). Thanks for the reply! Looking forward to more content in the future. :)
I really do appreciate videos like this so thank you. Not so many people are transparent and genuine. It really does help. I am always happy when you upload a new video Carrie. Yep! That adds ups. Commented first time while still watching the video so had to edit the comment 😂.
YEP! That adds up. Great tip about one's wants vs client need. Also applauding that course you showed towards the end, yes passive income! I don't even know you but somehow I'm happy for you? First video I've seen of yours and I'm just going to go ahead and subscribe lol. Well done from beginning to end, including how you promoted your other products and services. Maybe because it was a full circle moment and hearkened back to some things mentioned in passing earlier in the video. Definitely among the better pitches on this platform! Fitting, though, for a copywriter. Great job! ✨
I have 2 things to say. First, I'm so happy for you! I know you're working hard as a freelancer and a mom. This sound like rewarding for your hard work for years. And second, I love your new background!! Those greens and sofas look so comfy for the eyes. You're so brave and transparent. At some point in my life, I can make quite a lot, but I don't dare to share the number with anyone. And lastly...Yep! that adds up!
Thank youuu! I feel like I need a little neon sign or something above the sofa, but that plant wall is straight out of my dreams! I’m still super awkward talking about money when someone in my ‘real life’ comes up to me and is like, ‘dang so you told the internet you make a lot of money?’ and I just have to blush and say ‘uhhhhh yep, kinda’ 🫣 it’s easier to commit to pay transparency in front of a camera lol
@@carrieblogger Oh yeah! I saw the space above the sofa. Hmmm, it could be a nice place for a sign as you said. Or you can leave it like this for an overlay text as well. The plant wall looks so great! I also understand that transparency in front of the camera could be easier in real life. This is your channel and your own space :)
Wow. I love the transparency. Thanks for this video. I'll rewatch later. I love how you have a great work-life balance. Good Lord, the hours I put in as a journalist, working all hours God sends and then some, including stats and holidays, sitting in late evening council meetings that droned on about some street bylaw I had to find a way to make interesting news copy. No work-life balance there. By the way, I mentioned in brief RUclips comments that after I finished my latest book I'd pen a book with CarrieBlogger in it. It's done. The Mystery of the Missing Hand. Cover finished today. I just have to find a way to get it to you. So you could have it as early as tomorrow. Maybe. Thank you for posting this. Great video. Five stars.
I’m so grateful to journalists (and so many other hardworking folks) who put in the dedication, time, and energy for the benefit of society! I’m just also grateful that I don’t have to work those long hours. You had to figure out how to make a boring city bylaw sound interesting. I have to figure out how to make a boring product sound innovative. Surprisingly similar haha Oooooooh the missing hand 🤚🕵️♀️
@@carrieblogger I hope my experience translates into some modicum of return. We'll see. Getting closer to being on Fiverr. Great video. Will watch again. Thanks for uploading it! I'll see if I can upload The Mystery of...to your email.

Yup! That adds up. Do you know or could you interview a mother who started copywriting with young children, and how she did that. Because that is where I am at.
Yep that adds up, I’m at the beginning of my journey and I’m taking inspiration from you to break out of this fishbowl and gain some freedom with my time, if you see this and you have the time to reach out and hopefully help please do
Yep! I watched, and I am grateful for your transparency! I quit teaching last year and went through a course for copywriters. Now I am actively looking for work. I've sent out a TON of cold emails and am still working on that diligently. I built a Fiverr account last year and it went nowhere, probably because I wasn't very clear on what I do, plus there's an unreal amount of competition. I recently revamped it and activated it again. I'm not sure how to stand out to get orders. Do you have a video on this topic to help me out?

I’ve been working to develop a secondary income to help me transition into a semi-retirement phase of my career and your videos have been very useful and instructive. I can’t copy your success directly but your videos contain a lot of very useful and thoughtful information. Thanks for the videos and taking the time to continue making them! Good luck on your 2023 journey - looking forward to more content !!
Yep, that adds up! I’m coming to the end of my first 12 months on fiverr and a large part of the success that I have found has been from following your advice Carrie so thank you. So now of course I’m going to ask you for more advice! Have you recorded a video on productivity and/or how you efficiently work through your gigs. And how do you manage clients who drag their heels so much in providing feedback about an initial draft that they run out the clock and I end up going over my delivery time just waiting for them?
Yes! I do have a few videos on those topics, though they’re a little ‘old’… not sure I answered in any of those videos, so I’ll say here for sure - working in drafts is really, really hard on Fiverr because of the strict deadline timer AND how you have to get the client’s approval in order to extend. If you have to extend because they’re non-responsive why does anyone think they’ll respond to allow an extension? So dumb. The milestones setup is a better option, but really clunky for both buyers and sellers… personally, when I did a few giant orders with multiple parts, I made a clear schedule that included both my deliveries AND the window for their feedback. I set up a kind of contract that I would be continuing with the rest of my delivered parts on schedule, regardless of if they chose to provide feedback for me in between. Basically, it set up the expectation that I would plow ahead even if they dropped off. That worked really well for me, but it’s dicey if you have a persnickety client who gets mad that they didn’t follow the schedule/communicate and you did.
Also, you should join my discord community if you haven’t yet. We have a help channel to ask questions and lots of general chitchat bit.ly/carriediscord
You do regret that video of a certain fiverr freelancer, lol. Im glad you called out all those "x side hustles, no experience needed" videos. Just a bunch of get-rich-schemes. Even starting out, it is not that easy!
Yep that adds up! One question 😭 tickeling me . AI generative content has started replace copywriters. I have observed sudden decrease in demand of upwork freelance projects and gigs. What's your take on that?
From what I’ve seen, AI can currently probably replace about 45% of copywriting. (Not that it should, though, and this is only the very very very beginning.) Low-quality writers are slower and more expensive than AI that can churn out pretty much the same thing. But the bigger picture (and typically more long-term benefits) of a copywriter who leads creative direction, collaborates on a team, directs brand style, predicts trends, does brand-specific research, etc. isn’t easily replaced. Good luck!
Yep that adds up! I took it out of the video for time because ohhh myyyy gooosh it’s so long. Retainer clients get a 5% ‘discount’ and obviously no added fees by working directly with me. Good for them. And I get to earn 15% more than I would otherwise. Good for me, too. There are lots of other reasons this setup is working out incredibly well and adding value for both parties, but the math here is part of it.
Too Good ! Carrie i am a hvac design engineer aec (construction industry) with 6 months of internship experience trying to attract potential clients for freelancing through LinkedIn app by directly messaging them after introducing myself for getting commercial air conditioning design & drafting service projects but clients are mostly looking for people with prior 2-3 yrs of experience so how to earn trust & beat their fear of not thinking about me as value provider along with standing out from market competition are there any good books ? Is creating a perfect portfolio very important to showcase my work in 2 projects or should i approach in some other manner to convince them ?
I think nothing shines better than a portfolio. The goal is to put together convincing work that makes them think, ‘yep - that’s exactly what we need for our company!’

Surprisingly similar haha
Oooooooh the missing hand 🤚🕵️♀️
@@carrieblogger I hope my experience translates into some modicum of return. We'll see. Getting closer to being on Fiverr. Great video. Will watch again. Thanks for uploading it! I'll see if I can upload The Mystery of...to your email.
Frenchcarrieann@gmail.com I need to hear more about this missing hand!
@@carrieblogger Sent to your email ! It's my first upload from Vellum so it's an education for me. Yours in return for hours of great information and entertainment supplied by video. Cheers.
The book (short novel) is in your email. (I've sent this message a few times but I see it doesn't go for some odd reason!)
thatsss adds up carrie. super helpful videoo!!!!
Love your content! still using your tagline you created for me years ago. Also you might want to double your mic's mono audio to stereo for future episodes. Right now it's coming only on the left.
That’s so weird. It’s definitely not mono audio - might be a playback thing… but re: tagline - yay! That’s awesome!
Yep! That adds up. Great video Carrie.
Yep! Yep! Yep! 🎉

Do you know or could you interview a mother who started copywriting with young children, and how she did that. Because that is where I am at.
Great to see you again, Carrie!
You too, Jon!
Yep that adds up :)) I’m hoping to freelance write and design too on these freelancing sites

Yes! Good luck!
Yep, that adds up! Great video

How do you handle the workload??
Love how realistic you are! 🎉😊
Aww thanks! No sugarcoating and embellishing here. 😊
Yep! That adds up. Thanks Carrie; your videos are very interesting.

@@carrieblogger this is so great, thank you!
You do regret that video of a certain fiverr freelancer, lol.
Im glad you called out all those "x side hustles, no experience needed" videos. Just a bunch of get-rich-schemes. Even starting out, it is not that easy!
YEP! That adds up :)
Yup. That adds up.
Good luck!
YEP! That adds up🔥
🔥🔥🔥
Yep!!! That adds up.
Yeppppp!
Yep! That adds up🌻
Yepppppp! 🎉🎉🎉
Question: how do you price off Fiverr vs on Fiverr? Do you charge less off of Fiverr because you don't have the Fiverr 20% cut? Yup, that adds up!
Yep, that adds up.
Yep. That adds up!
