Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture.
With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

Hearing the word ‘Thunderrrrrr’ made me smile uncontrollably 😭
Paint some no skid on top of the walkways on the silo equipment this summer , keep your family healthy , and farm on, farmers feed America!!!
Totally did the “THUUUUNDERRRRRRR” as soon as I saw it.
Shane Beeson same!
Same here
Me too
Same
Everyone does lol
It’s to bad you can’t get a door conversion kit for that 332c Deere skid loader so you could leave the door on and have a load in air and still access it. Kubota has a clam style door that work well in that aspect.
Crazy to see you guys are in and around 50 degrees. Here in the south east we're in the 70s and 80s already. It's going to be a hot summer. Oh, and 6.5 all the way.
Nice bit of kit there sir.... We have the whole month of April, you just might get a chance to use it.
That’s my most favorite opening line to a video, “Right here, behind this shed.”
"Right here behind this she". That's what she said.
I've been binge watching your videos for a few days while in quarantine for this virus. Started while I was overseas, continuing on here at home. Enjoying the channel.
4:19 them damn welker farm kids leaving tire marks in the field
The prairie sunsets are beautiful. Thanks for another interesting video and update. We're all anxious for Spring!! - Dean from Edina
Feeding calves in the winter, when you carry two 5 gallon pails full of milk replacer and get 10 feet from the calf huts and slip on ice and fall down
Yes thx
Or when you're feeding a dog team fish meal wet and slip on the hill and roll to the bottom coating yourself and the trail with wet smelly fish meal. Girlfriend wouldn't let me back in the cabin until I stripped and put my clothes in a bag.
I have never been a farmer. But I'm a member of this old time farming Museum. That has a show up in Jordan Minnesota. But I do enjoy watching your videos. You are very informative and fun to watch. Keep up the good work.
You are my favorite RUclips person and I hope you and your family stays healthy.
💥 Thanks for getting that new snow pusher. My snow clearing the past couple
Month have been very easy here near St. Cloud. I’ll thank Courtney as well. 👍
Keep on tractoring!
almost 2 weeks at home, the Belgium government decided till beginning of may!!!!!! Fortunately we have a big garden and a lot of space in the house.
Very impressed. I farmed for years with my family in Tennessee with 1066, 1586 IH and 2290 Case, no electronics just hands. Your videos show a new a farming style. Keep up the good work.
I'm a livestock farmer and we bought tracks for our jeep to ensure we can get to the cattle. Based on the last few years I'm leaving them on till July
Who else whispered "thundeeerrrr" to themselves when they saw the fuel trailer?
Nathan Scheele Me. I do every time he shows it in a video
19:16 yup
when?
LOL, thunder, that was awesome. Love all the equipment and thank you for showing us how you do it.
NOOO! I wanted you to talk about the service truck! thats by far my favorite piece of equipment on the farm!
Glad you kept you balance & Thank You for feeding America & the world.
I'm soo grateful to hear the Rod Stewart whistle, just made the day! Going to see what the cows think about it. 😂🍻
Not many people seem to have caught that!!! 🤣
Man, it's the little things you do in all your vids that make them great! Grateful for y'all up there! Stay safe during these troublesome times. 👍👍
@@MillennialFarmer probbly wished had a kubota SVL90-2 a 95.2 hp wich has a slide up door wich makes easy get in and out with forks on and no doors in the way to get in and out to loade the forks on wich kubotas makes a nice skid loaders
I picked up on that too. But Zack isn't old enough to know that song...
"If you want my body and you think I'm sexy.." right? Millenial here ;-).
Thank you. I work on the Mississippi river as a linehaul vessel mate and you grow the crops that I push up and down the river. Keep em growing strong!
Whistling Rod Stewart’s “da ya think I’m sexy?” Was the best!!!! Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha haha
The views at the end of the day were always the best. That's one of the things I miss the most about farming.
I would highly recommend the 6.5 creedmore over the 308
That's what I'm thinking. If I'm going long range the creedmoor is a flatter round. I might have to do a creedmoor and a grendel for short range!
@@MillennialFarmer ataboy!
I got a 6.5 and I love it....plus it Screams 'Merica with it's American flag cerakote.
I second this.
@@MillennialFarmer just get a .50 cal and call it a day
Love the new videos!!!! When ever you say thuuunder I can't help but think of Thunder in Paradise.😂
Sentiment is appreciated. As someone locked down in the UK, the profound thing to say is, "Learn from the rest of the world - stay at home!"
Well now ya jinxed it, you put it all away, now we'll have an April storm! Thanks a lot! 🤣
1:13...ohhhhh, PETA is gonna be pissed.
Hahahaha underated comment
The pot roast was good. Fun to be getting content from you again. Thanks!
3:20 when the engine starts sounds like a laugh
There are no words for any of the things that are happening in the world but I appreciate your videos as a distraction from the real world while in isolation.
You’re one tough millennial, most would have had to go to the hospital for that almost fall. 😂
I just put it on youtube. Not millennial of me at all 🤣🤣
Have used .308 my whole life. Dad surprised me with 6.5 for elk hunt our west several years ago. Never looked back. Most accurate, smooth rifle I’ve ever used. Highly recommend.
Hey Zach, just a thought but how about a lean-to shed off of one of those shops with a nice spread of rock to keep all those nice attachments under. Keep out the weather you know.
That is exactly what I was thinking. I hate leaving my equipment setting out.
Especially the blower
I love it that I'm watching you take your snow removal equipment off your tractor tonight when I'm a hundred miles east and there's already 4 inches of snow on the ground LOL supposed to get up to 8 but still pretty warm so hopefully it melts but it's only been snowing for 30 minutes and there's almost four inches on the ground already so might have to clean up a little bit.
You could use the crane from the service truck to unload the barrel right ?
Well. Sorta. The valves are bad on the crane and half the time it won't go back in, so we have been trying not to use it anymore because they don't make new valves for it anymore
@@MillennialFarmer well get a new crane
@@MillennialFarmer ,,, Stoen or Mid-central hydraulics could probably put in new o-rings for crane valves.....
love how the dogs are always with your kids keeping a watchful eye
Spray some bed liner on those walk ways!!
ery good video
Your kids are precious! and i figured out what your "are you ok" thing reminds me of. when johnny 5 first goes out on his own, he goes up to a gas pump and says "input, INput"
I love this Channel
we have some over head bins to load semis. my grandpa put rigged up a rope pulley system with a weight on the end in the bin to see how full they are.
next time you go get a drum of anything take a good pallet along with you and have them set the drum on a pallet makes it a lot easy to get out.
No falling down now the corona might catch you🤣 be safe out there and don't be sad about not using your equipment in the snow we had no snow out here in Jersey this winter made no money on that
yeah just some flurries with practically negative inches of accumulation.
Yeah I didn’t get any snow haha I live in Louisiana
Man...get some ice grippers on them boot, we can’t have you getting hurt...be careful out there. Keep the videos coming and take care of the loved ones
This whole situation actually means I can't go farming. I'm a 15 year old town boy but I go to a farm and help there voluntarily and absolutely love it. But now I can't go down there in the Easter holidays. Oh well 😔
Since I live relatively nearby and don't appreciate late spring snow falls. I want to thank you for buying the snow pusher!👊🏼
5:37 .308 gets my vote, don't go buying magic whammo-blaster calibers you may or may not be able to find ammo for.
But what if I need to pick off a squirrel at 1,000 yards?
You throw a rock like a real man 💪
@@MillennialFarmer go with a 22-250 than
you know its going to snow now ;) Awesome view from the grain silos.
Easy workaround on "Organic" - just use the word "Natural" and all is forgiven and no one is the wiser. 😜
instablaster
I am a GunSmith in Kansas, I recommend the 308, I have one in the AR-10 platform, I can reach out and get deer a long ways out or within 20 yrds. It is a great caliber, with great variety of rounds to choose from.
Now you're all but guaranteeing a massive April blizzard.
My son and I absolutely love your videos!!!!
Get the .308 Zach,it's a military round that's available everywhere,plus it's cheap to shoot.
But 6.5 is better at longer ranges
@@thomasgrady7062 But I use .338 Lapua
Both
@@thomasgrady7062 everybody with a 6.5 creedmoore says that but almost none of them have ever shot it over 900+ yards where it actually IS better.... lots or calibers are superior to the 6.5 under 800 yards, but if you're punching paper at 1000 yards then you are correct the 6.5 is better
.308 is the civilian designation. 7.62 is the military designation.
Basically a larger caliber rifle round.
2 thoughts on your skid steer, 1 see if deere has a remote control for it. 2 see if they have a door that raises up over your head instead of swinging out.
When your trying to move that barrel of DEF i usually move the forks to the same width as the top of the barrel and get under the little lip at the top
or put on a pallet when you pick it up the first time.
Zach, as you post this, parts of Mn are under a Winter Weather Advisory for 2-5" of snow lol. You're right about it not staying around very long; guess it will give the kids a chance to make snowmen again.
I'd go with the .308, in these uncertain times, ammo will be cheaper, easier to find, and more versatile. I was a pro shooter and gunsmith.
Besides, unless you are going to shoot consistently at a 1,000 yards, you'll never know the difference. You'll just be spending more to achieve the same thing with the 6.5.
Surplus 308 out there
Just a tip we have learned, instead of buying drums of def, take your thunder creek trailer to a truck stop and you can fill your def tank at a truck stop, it makes life easier for our operation.
Let's see, gotta service trk with a crane. How do I get the barrel of my pickup 🤔🤔🤔🤔
Oh I could use that and a strap 😱😱😱😱😱
Zak , don't let me down, down ,down . And no , your not sexy 🙄. Your a faaarrrmmmeeerrrr. Thank you so much for that too . 🙏Dirt dry out 🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸😷😷😷😷👍👍👍👍👍
your by far my favorite RUclipsr, your super great to watch and you have a great sense of humor, these millennial's sayin syke
Leg arms would have just picked up that drum of liquid
I try not to show off and Zach could have lifted it with one hand but I do appreciate his humble attitude and not showing off!
Here in Southern MI I took a photo of a 5 foot snow drift in front of my Parents Garage on April 10th maybe around 1980
Hey are you okay? Are you okay?
Keep us entertained with your videos I look forward to watching them cheers Zac Jimmy in uk
we are farmers by watertown sd and everything has to be john deere
Fuel cheap. Thunder might need a big gulp!!! Might put some grease on snow pusher pins. They looked very rusty. Enjoy your videos
4:24 Umm excuse me Zach but I recall you saying that you don't like dusty equipment or dirty and umm I see that's not looking to bright.
Cool vid Zack ! Love watching I’m a farmer to in the uk all geared up for spring ! Love the dogs and you daughter is adorable keep up feeding the world mate
6.5 every time... all though 308 is easier ammo to find
Zach, a Bag of floor sweeping compound does a great job of cleaning dusty concrete floors. You should get some, most auto parts stores have it.
Nope not yet, SIKE theirs a truck
He said the word "skid" when he said skid steer so loud.
Great video.
I would get both rifles. Then you wouldn't have to decide.
Thank you for buying the new snow removal equipment, needed a break from winter
Did I miss why everyone is talking about guns? I feel left out
His phone call
.308 Winchester or 6.5 Creedmore. Google it if your still confused.
BECAUSE...
Guns.
That's why.
@5:35 .... 308!!!!!
Ammo supply during hard times is your limiting factor.
Yes the Creed more or less has preferable ballistics, but ONLY when you can find that particular flavor of Purina RifleChow. Not to mention its louder than a .243.
Hey Zach. You to get rid of that Deere skid steer and get a JLG. They are good machines and they have a door on the left side of the machine so you don't have to climb over the bucket to get in and out of the machine. Thanks for the video.
Watch now it’s going to dump snow on Monday hahaha there calling snow in Saskatchewan wensday Tuesday Thursday where I am lol
I want to come drive the beautiful green machines for spring planting, so miss being on the farm, Great video as always.
You asked the other day about over hauling the MM 603? I say go though the motor and anything else that needs to be fixed and don't repaint the tractor, keep the tractor in what I call "it's original overalls". I believe a tractor looks better if it isn't repainted, it's original overalls. Faded paint, scratches and small dents and all.
One trick for loading and unloading plastic drums is to set the fork space just a little narrower than the drum width and lift just below the lip on the top. The only way to move those around
Im from Turkey i watching your vlogs. .you have bitiful tractors like John deere amazing tractor. .thx for vlogs
Thanks Zach for buying that
Keeps mine in the shed 😎
Loving living in Rosemount 😜
social-distancing, not difficult on a farm, if you're sick isolate. we will get through this! Meantime, farmers can't sit still, ya gotta keep at it. great job guys!
Oh hell yeah you already know brother if you didn't get that you would be knee-deep.. hey brother thanks for having Levi on your channel me and him have been talkin quite a bit I am outside myself talking to one of my all-time Heroes just to let you know I love your style I love everything about your channel brother your great family man awesome friend and your channel is sky the limit always a big thumbs-up brother👍👍👍👍👊👊
Great video always enjoy watching your video have a great weekend
Onyx having to stick one leg the hood of the little electric gator is pretty funny.
I see Ila(sorry if I misspelled) taking over the farming before Onyx. She always seems more interested in what’s going on, but maybe she just loves her dad a whole lot more. Either way. Good on you for easing some good children and giving them a ton of good experiences to learn from before adulthood.
Zack it’s cool we love the videos! Keep them coming!
Any tips on documenting maintenance and repairs on so much equipment and vehicles? Might be a good video. I’ve been thinking about a dry erase board in the shop for reminders, but I have hard copies in the office with each machines folder. Wondering how you do it.
Have been up in your part of the woods delivering seed potatoes to Perham last few days things are still looking wet
I just saw your ad with Dakota Micl Carmen ad (sorry for the bad spelling.) When I was going to watch this video.
I built a hammer strap hitch for my 57 JD 520 so i can pull my pintle trl. Get your self the metal valve stems so you dont have to worry about them again
That’s a cool service truck you have set up. I think the mini hoist is a great idea.
Our Shepherd yipped at all small motors, snowblower, push mower, rototiller. Drove us nuts.
Love your videos. Look forward to planting season.
I found the Off The Husk podcast on Spotify and started listening to them Saturday night
We're hoping in 4 weeks to be planting beans in lower east central Illinois, we plant beans first as years past have proven soybeans are more time critical than corn for high yield(within reason). Hope you have a safe spring
I’d suggest some anti skid adhesive strips on top of the conveyor. Make that walking a little bit safer. They use them on the conveyor at our local elevator. Seem to work really well. Stay safe!
