Let's just take a moment to appreciate how he has to stop his tractor so he can zoom in on the speed goats so that we can see them properly. Thanks for taking time for us Mike!
I started laughing when you said Kraken! You keep jumping out of the tractor. You must like the cold! Obviously you don't have arthritis do you. Great video I guess you must do something during the winter time. God bless you all.
Excellent video, good Sir! The wide load was actually a part of a wind turbine tower, and if I’m not mistaken judging by the blue tarps on each end acutally a Vestas manufactured tower. A Danish company, that I used to work for. Nice to see that all the way overthere 🙂👍
Hi Mike, I am so amazed with you. You are a true farmer to your bones! You eat, drink and so love what you do. Your vlogs prove this. Thank you for the ride alongs! ❤&🙏 from central Pennsylvania 🎀 Merry Christmas 🎀

Mike thanks for the video. I have farmed for 65 years just had major back surgery last Monday and cannot do anything for 6 - 8 weeks. Nothing worse for a farmer than not being able to do anything. When you used the term speed goats and later explained what that meant, I was laughing so hard my incision was hurting so bad. But a big thanks for the bit of joy in this video and your others. God bless and have a blessed Christma
SOB, wish my dad had that in the 1950's, instead of a stone-boat pulled behind the tractor, that dad drove and my brother and I rolled any rock we could into it!
We had a stone boat too. One year a huge rock came up and my dad used dynamite to loosen it. We used a steel plate as a skid then get the boulder to the pasture fence line.
@@claudreindl7275 Dynamite; my dad in the 50's used dynamite for stump removal! Did one in a Village outside Utica, NY for a home owner, well when dust settled, no stump anyplace. About two days later a guy about 10 house from the removal contacted about getting the F'ing stump out of his yard!!!!!!!! LOL
Nice to see the fields in wintertime, to me it worked pretty well with limited snow to find some rocks! Thanks for explanations. Can be cold out there with frost till 8 feet deep! Nice to see all the 'speed goats', Deere, Elk, etc., lots of them. As long as they don't discover your grain bag😮😉 Was a nice one Mike👍🚜
Hay Mike the oversized is a section of a wind mill. They have been coming through my town here in Montana pretty regularly heading north of course 😀 one of the drivers told me where but I can't remember.
On some of the great Finnish rock picker-uppers you have a conveyor belt to empty on a truck or trailer. Then you don't have these "decentralized" rock heaps in your fields anymore, Mike. ;D
If this was the first time someone had seen rock picking they would think Mike needs a straight jacket the same colour of the snow and a “Matching Padded Room” 🤣😂
Love ya videos Mike you always keep them entertaining and funny 😁 just love the way you put them together South Dakota is some of the hillest combining I have ever done on the Diamond Ranch was so bad I have lost my way out there in the hills they had to come get with the grain cart at night time lol 😂 I was so lost
Lol our frost line here in Western North Carolina is 18" couldn't imagine 8 ft. Still would love to live up north 🙏 maybe one day. Thanks for the videos and all the hard work you guys do to feed the world 🌎
Mike that big thing on the road is one part of a windmill lots here where we are.i don't know where those are headed but for the last two months there are wind mill blades passing right by our place and the pilot car driver said they are headed to Assiniboia Sask.Deere has laminated windshields now, they also cut down the cab noise quite a bit comparing the same machine with and without.
No joke...when I went costume harvesting I think it was Oklahoma I said you have no rocks to pick they looked at me funny and said how do know when they are ripe enough to pick🤣
Swing the picker into transport when it is tough to go up the hill or have to back down. Also sometimes I swing the picker in a bit when the rock is too close to the tractor & normally can not get into picker .
Hi Mike, I was looking on Google Maps where Swift Current was, and I noticed there's also an Orkney to the south. I was visiting my parents at the weekend up in the Highlands in Scotland, where from my old junior school you look across the sea to the Orkney Islands. Wondering if the name comes from there! All the best to you all on the farm there :)
Around where Mike lives there's a lot of places with Scottish names,.. I think Mike has said previously that his family, Mitchell, is of Scottish descendancy, so I guess a lot of emigrants settled in the prairies and gave homeland names..
Has the burned-out combine been removed from the field yet and will you do a video on them picking it up? I have been curious about how they manage to load them up and get them out of the field.
Mike, the wide load was a windmill upright tube. Those are coming into the Port at Lewiston, Idaho and then there trucking north thru your area to somewhere up there. Read a story about them in the local paper. They are being manufactured in China. Shipped to Portland, then barged to Lewiston. Crazy huh!
Just put tint on your window that's what I do on my tractors and sprayers, had a rock hit my back tractor window and that helps to not explode over you. Enjoy your videos stay safe

Farmed a bunch of ground inbetween Leross and Lestock one year and yeah, definitely had more hills than we were used too. you can add clear window protection on the inside of the windshield to stop you eating glass. I know some construction equipment has the safety glass on it for DOT requirements in California for snow removal.
You are fortunate to have hydraulic drive stone pickers. The early Degelman rock pickers were ground drive and you had to be moving to get the reel driving enough to flip the rocks. There was none of that stopping by a rock and slowly easing into it. Why can't you combine up that hill? I realize it is steep but I've combined up some pretty steep hills. One hill I was on much steeper than that, the up hill tire on the MF510 lifted off the ground and the MF760 drive tires were hopping and spun out until we had to go down the hill backwards.
That must be one of the first Degelman Super pickers. I've never seen anyone pick rocks after it snowed before. I thought this was a gag video. Where I grew up we used to windrow the rocks so they could be picked faster.
Mike can you put marker on your gps when you are harvesting to pin point where the rocks are, I do that on my trimble when spraying , and use a thumb drive to load it on your rock picking tractor.
