Respectfully - your analysis is shallow. Blackness is more than just the amount of African DNA we are born with. It is the mixture of our DNA, our cultural programming, and our lived experience as non-Whites. Drake's experience, as a mixed-race, light-skinned, Canadian, raised in an upper-middle-class Jewish community is NOT typical of the vast majority of Black Americans' experience. The main character of "Not Like Us" isn't KDot -- it's Blackness, itself.
Drake is losing a battle against Blackness.

2. You seemed to attack Umar for asking Drake how he identified -- which was, to me, a fair question. Fair because Drake's ACTIONS would seem to indicate that he does not share the same connection to Blackness as those of us who connect the legacies of KDot, Pharrell, Tupac, etc. TO BLACKNESS. Pac is the closest thing we've seen to an actual revolutionary in our generation. Pharrell is a visionary who brings Blackness to everything he creates. KDot makes Black movement anthems. WE ARE PROUD OF WHAT THEY REPRESENT TO OUR CULTURE. Drake used the icons of icons as props. Like souls he's collected. Really sad ish, to be honest. And a way deeper issue than just going at Umar for being... well.... Umar lol.

Mixed race means he’s a black man brother. On the bases of genetic reproductive dominance, he’s black. What Umar is trying to see is if he psychologically identifies as black. The term mix race means something to us black people but other races mostly don’t use that terminology. Our blacks in Asian countries deal with not being accepted all the time.
