These are the only isopods I keep. I got them on the guidance of your videos. They have been super fun to take care of. Their colony is growing super fast.😊
I have a few pie bald Giant Canyons as well. One of them has a white head, which I think is pretty cute. I haven't tried to isolate them, and I probably never will; sadly my life is too busy for that right now. But I am really excited to see how this breeding project turns out!
I am very new to keeping isopods and I have started a small colony from wild caught isopods from where I grew up in Norway, they look like porcellio variant and colors range from the common gray, gray with yellow spots along the back, brown and light brown/gray. I have loved isopods sense I was a kid crawling around my grandparents yard but never thought about them being kept as pets, now I just sit and watch their behavior in a small/medium enclosure I made for a few of them. Cause where I live currently they aren't as common as at my grandparents place. And I am thinking about giving my small colony a boost with some new individuals when I have a chance to, as well as making more desk size enclosures so I can start to separate the different colors I have seen in the ones I already have! And I would love to get some different morphs one day, but I don't think Norway is the best place when it comes to that sort of thing. Yes, we have some people breeding them here, but most people see them as pests sadly.. :(
@@Aquarimax Cool! I'm not sure about getting them shipped to Norway, rules are strict when it comes to shipping any live creatures, but it might be possible to track down people that sell other morphs in Norway already! But I am loving the "boring" isopods anyway, even if they aren't the fancy variety! :D
@@Aquarimax I just found a wild isopod in my grandparents yard that looks almost exactly like the Lava morph, a lot of orange around the body with dark gray patches! When I google image search it I get something called "Porcellio Scaber “Red Calico” o.o
It’s been years (about 25!) since I had an ant colony, it would be fun to do that again, especially with the advancements in enclosures since those ancient times.
