    The Grenadier Guards' regimental colour is decked today. At a guess, it's for Hazebrouck, April 12-15, 1918, one of 45 honorary distinctions noted on their colours. Great playlist.

    I think the Grenadiers have a new plume, lighter in color and especially longer!

      Hello Wendy, They are Taught to March & Stand like that. It's supposed to be less tiring & more Comfortable & is the Optimum Angle to spread the weight over the Feet & keep the Circulation going so they don't get Cramp. It's even checked when they're Inspected.

      This I’ve heard in the past. In this instance, it was just the one solitary Guard in the entire squad whom caught my eye as his gait was so extreme…it bordered comical.

      @@wendymoney2043 Hi Wendy, Yes there's a few who tend to look like Charlie Chaplin when they do it, it's so un-natural. You can often pick out the ones who've just Graduated by their strange Gait. The ones who've been serving for a few years have usually become so used to it, it looks quite Natural. It's also quite funny too, to see them just walking, then another 1 or 2 join in. thy always, Always get into step, even if someone has to do a hop & skip to get into step with his Mates, it's so ingrained in them.
      Enjoy your Week!!

    There is always something Special when The Regimental Bands lead the Guards from their own Regiment at a Guard Change Parade. There's just that little bit extra, the shoulders set with the back a little straighter or perhaps it's the head a little higher, maybe the Chest is a little more prominent. Whatever it is you can see it as DS Chusa Siwale Leads the Band of the Grenadier Guards & The Old Guard - Mounted by The Grenadier Guards - from St James Palace down the Mall to Buckingham Palace. The Grenadier Guards have their Colour "Decked" today, I know there is one or two 'Newbies' who'll be watching, so I'll explain for their Benefit. When a Regiment has their Colour Decked, you can see at the Top of the Pole, there is a Small Garland of Artificial Laurel Leaves. To a Regiment, their "Colour" is the Name Given to the Flag that Carries the Record of their Regiment's Battle Honours, The Regiment's Badge & Motto. It is one of a Regiments most, if not The Most, Revered Objects. The Colour is carried by Junior Officer, with an "Escort" of 2 Armed Guardsmen flanking him & another Officer Marching ahead of the Colour Bearer, in these Guard Change Parades. If the Colour is not Paraded, then the Officer will March where it would Normally be.
    When the Colour is "Decked" it's generally because it coincides with a Specific Battle the Regiment took part in, but very Occasionally it's because it's the date of something monumental in the Regiments History. The Colour of any Regiment is treated with the utmost Respect by all other British Army Officers & Men (& Women), if The Squadron of Blues & Royals Cavalry in this Video had met The Grenadier Guards Colour on their way up to Horse Guards, they would have paid their Respects by coming to attention & holding their Swords straight in Salute & "Eyes Right" as they passed.
    Back to the Video...
    The Band of the Irish Guards, led by the Incomparable SDM Gareth Chambers MVO, heading up the Spur Rd to Buckingham Palace with the New Guard. I can see a Welsh Guard Plume in the Detachment, I suspect they are in fact The Welsh Guards Regiment, even though some of the Guardsmen have a tightly bound Plume in their Bearskins & only White showing. If they were the Grenadier Guards (Who have White Plumes), their Colour would be "Decked" as well, it's clearly not, so I'll say the New Guard will be Mounted by The Welsh Guards.
    This is a Great Video! It's Good to see The Household Division back in the Red Tunics. Well done Cameraman/woman, a Great Job with the Large Crowd. Than you for Sharing.

    What and who with the Beards ?.

    • @supernutkin5122
      @supernutkin5122 4 месяца назад +4

      Yep, we understand beards are allowed now in the British Army. The RAF have been allowed beards for some years and the Royal Navy have been allowed beards "forever" in the past.
      Another sign of the times, unfortunately ... (Standards are not "slipping" ... they've been blown out of the window) !

      @@seeker1432 ... Let's reduce our Military to a rag-tag force incapable of defending our country !
      The whole thing is pathetic ... I'm sick and tired of "trans-this" and "trans-that" and people "being offended"

      It's been Reported in Forces Net. That with the New "Multi-National" Servicemen, there had to be some Changes to allow for Religious & Cultural Differences. Headwear: can wear Turbans & Chaladors are Permitted, Facial Hair is permitted & the feeling was it would be too difficult to police if it was only allowed because of Religious or Cultural Requirements. Me, I'm not saying a Word.
