My mom always made us homemade ice cream and froze it in our metal ice cube trays. It would freeze so fast in those. It was always so good. When you have a big family you can’t always afford to take everyone out for ice cream cones. She did buy the cones.
When I was a child (I'm 75 now) and we had family outdoor gatherings, the adults took turns turning the crank and the children took turns sitting on top of the freezer to keep it steady. We always had lots of homemade ice cream. Enjoyed your video. Y'all are a hoot!! Yes, I'm from the South--NC.
Hi Kathryn! You are still a young'un!! Aren't childhood memories of yummy food just the best? And especially memories that involve loved ones. And we LOVE NC!! Gorgeous state with wonderful people! Please stay in touch!
Now I guess I will have to buy an ice cream machine, or try freezing in metal ice cube trays. Remember my Grandmother doing that back in the day. Thanks guys. Looks so good.
That's amazing, Connie! Barbara was just telling us her mom used to freeze in the metal ice cube trays, too! We'll have to do that, too! Love that it freezes the ice cream so quickly, and you have fun little bite-size cubes of ice cream! Brilliant!
That looks so good! My dad always talked about the hand cranked ice cream maker my grandmother had. I always thought it sounded like a lot of work. 😂 I like yours. I love blueberries. Hope you feel better soon, Loon.
This just made our day! Please give that precious little angel a hug for us! She (and you) will love this blueberry ice cream!! YUM!!! Keep us posted! xoxo
Great video! As always, fun to watch. Fun fact question... are there any foods you've made (on video) that were not loon approved!? 😃🤭 I feel like I would know as I've seen all the videos, but I don't recall any.
Hi there! There are dishes that come out of the kitchen that wouldn't be Loon approved for either of us. When that happens, we usually go back to the drawing board and keep tweaking until the dish is up to our liking, or we just move on to the next. Maybe we'll start a series where some dishes are NOT Loon approved. That could be fun!
I'm going to give you a secret I love your ice cream recipe reminds me of my mother's but she used to put a pic of cinnamon in it along with lemon she's going to call her Blueberry pie Ice Cream

Thanks, Gayle! Hand cranked would be exhausting, you'd think! But, certainly made with love. ♥️
My 5 year old loved watching you guys. She wants mommy to hurry up and make this ice cream!

"If it scrambles, we'll have to throw bacon in instead of blueberries." 🤣😂
LOL!! It might be tasty!!
@@HowToFeedaLoon A good chef always has a back up plan.
"It took like four hours." Actually, it took four hours and six minutes according to your microwave. lol
