After having an Inmarsat for many years, having the Iridium phone is a real pleasure. I can be anywhere in my house here in Florida and it will work great. The Inmarsat was very tempermental, even when fully outside clear of all but one tree 20 feet away. Recently we got an Starlink Mini with the roaming plan and it is fantastic, with orders of magnitude more bandwidth and speed for the same price. Trading simple text for high resolution videos is amazing. Very impressed with Starlink. We use it as an emergency comms capabilty along with Iridium.
That iSatphone Pro has Bluetooth so it’s very easy to position to talk and yes you very well could use it inside the caravan if you set it in a window facing the satellite since it Inmarsat is geostationary. Also you can get an adapter for it to use a passive magnet antenna on the roof so it’s really a non-issue.
I mainly solo camp so have always had a PLB which to me is a must but am thinking of an Iridium go so I can txt and maybe the odd voice message. So what is the monthly plan cost of one of these and call/ text charges?
Does it use your current cell phone number? If someone calls or texts your cell phone number will it ring your phone? Or do people have to have your Iridium satellite phone number?
How is reliability? I have had Inreach for several years but it has failed me several times. So, i was thinking of switching to Iridium Go but several YT comments have complained about its reliability too.

If your Inreach sucks then iridium will to, uses the same sats
sounds like a skill issue
@@no.9516 Can you explain what you mean?
@@no.9516 very much so. If I can use this in the bottom of a canyon with no issues than the problem is on ole steph there.
You speak so softly that no one hears what you say!
What rubbish! Great to hear an Aussie talking good sense, as usual
