The show is improving by the episode. I love how several differences between Europe and Ottoman are being point out. So many little fun facts I was never aware of. Great insights you give us.
Just stumbled across this channel, really good insights. I remember Can from appearing on The Great War on the road trip to Gallipoli and I felt like I could listen to his stories for hours.
We would like to clarify one point: when we provide numbers on armies, casulties, unit strengths etc we take the generally accepted figures from a collection of resources. Due to bad record keeping in the Ottoman army in the Great War one can never give an accurate number. We will do our best to consider your comments especially when we cover the Sarıkamış campaign in a future episode.Thank you.
So glad you're doing this, bro. I love the Ottoman Empire and Turkish history. Hope you won't have to shut down commenting on all videos though. Keep up the good work. Cheers!
WTF?! The Foto you showed at minute 2:57 was showing a POW camp with POWs from Galipoli and U were saying that it was a picture from 1914. I know that, because it is written on the photo, which is obviously a postcard, in German! (I am German)
2:50 No, this is NOT "a picture from the Ottoman Empire 1914". The (German) caption clearly says the picture shows Englishmen caught during the Dardanelles campaign (which took place February 1915 to January 1916). Englishmen. Not people that migrated form the Balkan.

Great stuff, similar to great war channel, like it!
Fevzi Çakmak, İsmet İnonu, Kazım Karabekir, Fahrettin Altay and other generals of Turkish Independence War. These generals are part of other talented ottoman officers. There is another officers. Many foreigners don't know theirs name. If foreign people are interested in they can search. Just an information or advise :). Yeni videolarını bekliyoruz :)
In this episode you mention that the Ottoman Empire and the Austrian Hungarian Empire both had large minority populations and that they both shared a similar fate. The way that it was worded indicates that their minority populations were the reason for their collapse... is this what your meant to say?
if your map is supposed to show the borders at the onset of WW1, it shouldn't include some aegean sea islands, such as rhodes, in ottoman empire. those were lost to either greece or italy couple years back. great job, nevertheless.
The Ottomans entered this war with an army prepared for a war against Greece but.... won victory after victory against the racist and arrogant British and even ended the war with much better terms than their allies... The Ottoman empire outlived their enemies the Russians and both their allies... sadly it was Turkish nationalism not defeat in the filed which lead to an end of the empire and the caliphate.....
First i am not talking about whole Eastern Front casualites until the end of the war. Enver Pasha's operation of sarikamish with the 3rd army had only 75.000 active fighting personel how is it possible that it could be 90.000 casualities please explain this "shit".
I am a fan of his content and I do follow it. I will follow this series too I am not trying to be destructive but I don't get why people get to try to prove themselves with aggressive words I am just stating what I read and listened. If you @OttomansinWWI or Mr. Indy Neidell have any more content saying otherwise I would like to read them too. I expected a civilized knowledge sharing, not a primal who is better comment warfare.
Always blaming the arabs and other minorities on what you caused to yourselves and us. curroption, poverty, backward technology, seferbelks , turk nationalists , entering a world war etc etc etc .. Who led to the collapse is the rulers not the minorities. (Which are not minorities actually but compined they are a majority) Thank you for the effort , i thought this serie gonna bring something new or something more fair but unfortunately it's the same nationalists story available everywhere else
@Şukufe Kıllıbacak in history studies when you want to do a research you should search in more than 1 source if you want to make a search about a battle for example each side of this battle will give you a different story amd different casualties etc .. I hold no grudge on turks for being like this because it's the educational system which give it this way , same in other areas like kurds balkans arabs , kids always learn 1 side of the story
@Şukufe Kıllıbacak but if you want a real event and real reasons you need to search and view all the other points of view , and with professionalism. Professionalism here means to give the information which is more fair between all the points of view and give it to the audience without patriotic emotions just give them the cold fact .
For example i give you a cold fact : arabs of hijaz when they revolted they killed other arabs of syria and iraq who were in the ottoman army , they killed them too not just turks
Came here from WW I channel and what a pile of crap this channel compared to WW I one. So much bias, nationalistic and other stuff that should never cross any historical topic (which is only about intents and facts from all sides). There's no way I'm going to support this type of content.
You are ofcourse entitled to your own opinion but one would wonder that if you had spared some of your precious time watching all of our episodes you will still portray such animosity...

Guys, what happened to the 1000th subscriber prize?
We are filming episodes many days before you watch them. As we were fliming episode 3 we had around 900 subscribers so stay tuned.

Which is the meaning of the red emblem??
Does anyone know if there were Ottoman Armies in the Western Front or the Salonika Front?
in 1914 salonika was under greek control so no Ottoman Armies there and for the Europe Theatre there was Ottoman Corps in Galicia Front
if you mean Macedonian Front yes there was Ottoman Troops
@@qultegin Macedonian front= Thessaloniki which is Salonika! Their were about 30,000 Ottoman soldiers there.
@@qultegin What does 'Under Greek control' have to do with anything?

One of the reasons yes.

which Ottoman divisions had the best weapons such as German weapons
joey8062 15th Army Corp sent to the Galician Front by far had the best Uniforms weapons and kit.
Yıldırım Army Group also can be seen as the best.
Ottoman army didnt had 90.000 soldiers in sarikamish how could the casualty be that high... Unbeliavable.
Ottoman army had 100k to 150k estimated personnel in eastern front
First i am not talking about whole Eastern Front casualites until the end of the war. Enver Pasha's operation of sarikamish with the 3rd army had only 75.000 active fighting personel how is it possible that it could be 90.000 casualities please explain this "shit".
