  • Hi Friends! Please don't hold it against me but I misplaced my pink pendant from the video (or disposed of it) before taking a picture of it. Make sure to watch the video to see how it came out. After watching the video I actually really liked it despite the fact that I was not overly happy with the outcome in as I was recording. Have a fabulous day and keep on creating!
    Products used in the video:
    White polymer clay
    Clear wrap
    Syringe or dropper
    91% alcohol for cleaning syringe between colors
    Alcohol inks on pink pendant: Raspberry (will skip it next time because it was too bright for me), Wild Plum, Purple Twilight
    Alcohol inks on blue pendant: Sunshine Yellow, Pool, Sail Boat (I would suggest to add Indigo to the party as well)
    Clay sculpting tool with rubber tip (see link)

    Hi Joanna, I think that the reason that the pinks bled was that you did a wet sanding instead of the dry sanding you performed on the blue pendant. Either way, they were both really pretty.

    I liked the pink border on the pink. Made it look like a real stone. Also don’t toss the “mistakes”. Use them to experiment with ways to fix things, or perhaps discover a new technique. For example you could have painted a border around it, or put it in a bezel. Just saying in art there are no mistakes only opportunities.

    • @joannascorner4478
      @joannascorner4478  3 года назад

      Hello my friend! Thank you so much! The back is white. I don't put resin on the back of the pendants, although I have seen a lot of people do that. I use polyurethane varnish or sculpey varnish on it instead.

  • @erinclark5681
    @erinclark5681 Год назад

    Beautiful! I've tried using alcohol inks on clay before, but then when I cut the clay, the edges where I cut crack and the colors seem to "break." Were you able to work around that? Did your smoothing tool help? I believe I have the same kind, so I could try it.

    • @joannascorner4478
      @joannascorner4478  Год назад

      Hi Erin!I have never had that issue, however....I have see people use alcohol to dry out the clay for crackle effect.... how long are you leaving alcohol ink on the clay before cutting it? I wonder if the clay is just drying out too much.

    • @erinclark5681
      @erinclark5681 Год назад

      @Joanna's Corner I leave the ink alone for about 15 minutes. I'm actually following the instructions from this particular video, as it was the first time I had seen alcohol inks used this way on clay:
      ruclips.net/video/cr6e41q4XMU/видео.html
      There is another person in the comments of that particular video that is having the same trouble, and that video maker also said they've never encountered this problem. It's becoming incredibly frustrating to be one of 2 people who can't seem to use inks on polymer clay. I typically use Fimo soft and sculpey Premo, if that means anything at this point. I guess alcohol inks are just too drying.

    • @joannascorner4478
      @joannascorner4478  Год назад +1

      This must be just so frustrating! I wonder if there are other factors that come into play that we are not thinking about like maybe how warm it is on your room or something like that. For me cracking in clay means a lever of drying... but have you ever used alcohol ink on baked clay? Try that. Its different effect but it's still very pretty. Bake a white pendant and then use alcohol ink. Colors are very vibrant then. I think I did it in my old crackle videos... I'm just trying to see if we can fix your problem somehow...

    • @erinclark5681
      @erinclark5681 Год назад

      @Joanna's Corner I appreciate the suggestion, I haven't done it on baked clay yet. I'll also have a look at your crackle video. (Brand new subscriber, here! Haha!) I'll let you know how it works out!
