Today I am sharing my swatch and review of the ILNP Velvet nail polish collection for spring 2024 - we have 6 new magnetic nail polishes that look super velvety on the nails - plus they have a holo sparkle! After seeing swatches by different youtubers I did rejoice "yeah, finally something I don't need to buy". But then Kelli makes a swatching video and I think, "damn, these are pretty".
My feelings exactly. I found them nice but not overly attractive. Now I am thinking if I need all of them or possibly 4 only… 😀

Kelli was the first swatch and review I watched, and I've tried to watch others do the same and thought, "These people don't know how to paint nails" and her commentary is natural not just taking up space. Love her!
Thank you so much for the effort to make these videos and have available before pre-order! I super appreciate that, I’ve been debating which of these I want most and this absolutely helped me decide! I’m especially excited for the lilac and green color, and that cool darker brown. I’ve never ever been a spring color person and I still don’t love color stories that just look like an Easter basket. But more muted pretty spring colors are growing on me!
I am definitely realizing I don't mind the classic spring colors when they have something extra special or sparkly in them haha'

I do love velveteen and velour. A lot. Any time a shade is described with the phrase, “this is more of a fall shade,” it will be my favorite from a collection. I have never tried magnetic polish before, but I think I might be getting close to taking the plunge.

Thank you Kelli for doing these in the cat eye! ILNP is just doing thier promos (that I've seen) with just the velvet style and i wanted to know how they looked in cat eye so much. I also agree with you that I would prefer these in their cat eye forms over the velvet forms. :D

These colors in the cat eye style are one of the prettiest spring palettes I have seen yet! This particular mix of colors makes me think of bunnies in a field of new grass and wildflowers... very specific I know, ha!!! But really! I didn't think I'd want any, and now? I want them all!

Velveteen is a cool brown for sure. Yellow-browns are warm. Red-browns are cool. And this one is practically purple. (I love it.)
Yeah I'm not sure why this one is described as warm toned tbh 😅 but maybe it just looks more red toned against my yellow undertones!

I love Lily and Pink Suede. I prefer the cat eye style on these too. You know by now I’m a pink & purple gal.😂 I accidentally received two bottles last Spring of their lavender shade Lolly. They graciously told me to keep the second bottle. I think I’ll try to knock out the first bottle this yr before purchasing another, even though I love the one in this collection. It’ll still be around when I’m ready, another great reason to love ILNP! Thanks Kelli

So these are mainly all pretty colours, but I have to say the browns are really jumping out at me unusually, I also prefer these magnetised in cat eye style, it certainly makes them all more vibrant 😊

I agree with you that these polishes look better in the cat eye effect than the velvet effect. I'm thinking of getting Velour and Lily since I don't have magnetics in that color yet.

Not my personal favorites as a velvet style polish, but they do look like a perfect eye catching and subtle spring color, it’s amazing how as of late the brand you’ve been reviewing seem to be battling how to be fun without being all up in your face, and they’re all winning in their own ways haha, thanks for the review!!

I wouldn't blame your skin tone with that yellow shade. That one just makes people look like their nails have a disease lol. It was still pretty though since it had a nice shimmer, but the other ones are much better. The soft green is gorgeous!
Yeah I just don't think that yellow one works, I do wish it was more of a neutral beige color!!!

I still haven't tried the velvet style of magnetizing yet, so I have been debating on getting 2 of these, but I'm also deciding between having my budget for this or for Polish Pickup!
Thank you for reviewing these! I love ILNP, but I’m on the fence with these colors. I don’t generally wear spring colors, but there’s a few of these that I really like. Velveteen and pink suede are beautiful. I may wait and pick a couple up later.

Great review. I like that you can see it unmagnetized as well. Dita Von Teese is releasing fragrances too. Now that your sense of smell is improving, it might be something to look into 😊

I only liked these after the magnet was applied, but I'd be curious to see other magnet techniques with these besides the diagonal slash. Love the fiery reds in your hair!

So far I've done velveteen in velvet and teddy in cat eye, and the cat eye on this is stunning. I get why they pushed the velvet concept, but the cat eye is so much more dynamic!

Thank you for posting this before the preorder! I’ve been on the fence about Cashmere cause I also have a yellow undertone so your review helped me realize I should pass on that shade since it wouldn’t be the most flattering for me. 😊

How thick of a third coat do you need to magnetize? I have a magnetic polish but it's never this bold when magnatized
I only do a slightly thicker coat for magnetizing! But you have to work quickly and hold the magnet for longer than you think to give the polish enough time to start drying!

I love that you showed them in both styles. When the promos came out they gave me Cirque Aura collection vibes…. Since you have both collections, do you find they are similar? I missed out on the aura collection and have been searching for a good substitute forever 😞

Kelli, Wonder what the Cashmere (or perhaps others in the collection) would look like as a topper? Single coat, with or without the velvet style magnetization.
I believe Velveteen is a warm brown with cool undertones. It’s very unique and might be a brown I try. I usually hate them all because they almost always have warm undertones or at best, neutral.
I watched another polish reviewer swatch these yesterday, and was quickly reminded why Kelli is the only polish reviewer I'm subscribed to. The other reviewer had such a heavily stained nail that it was impossible to get a true sense of the shades, and I actually clicked off the video after the 2nd swatch. Keep up the excellent work, Kelli!
Same! I watched one from another creator a few days ago and had the same experience. I had to turn it off after the first swatch. 🥴 They didn't like a lighter colored jelly shade...and I thought....sorta hard to tell when your nail underneath this sheer shade is so stained!

my magnetics already in my collection need more love before i buy any more, but i may put Velveteen on my wishlist for a fall color.
my favorite way to do magnetics is as decals (paint them on a plastic sheet or mat that’s sitting over a magnet). it gives the best lines and i can do rings and s curves without holding my hands in all sorts of odd positions to get those effects. i need to figure out an aura decal hack though.

It is funny how different polishes can look between swatch pics & videos. I'm not normally a pastel person not a pink person either. I do however think lily teddy & tge green( which looks like jadeite in cats style) are quite lovely. I prefer them with the velvet effect. Rare for me with magnetic polish. If I was gifted any of these I'm sure I would enjoy them but don't plan to purchase on my own
These do look more interesting in the cat eye style! Cashmere was my least favorite bc I’m warm with yellow undertones too! Some colors like this will make me look washed out. 🙁 The velvet style is cute with the pink and purple colors but still I think I like the cat eye better. Great collection!
