So I called Hyundai to ask them what the heck the four dot thing is. They told me it's Morse code for the letter H! I checked and it is! I've been happy with the Kona. Way better than the Trax that it replaced.
I watched your video on your Trax. Seriously can't believe how bad it was. Honestly same situation with me and my Honda Fit. Thought they made good reliable cars. But nope!
The Aztek wasn't the first ugly car, neither was it the ugliest car. It wasn't ahead of its time. It wasn't the best, most, or first anything. It was just a mediocre wannabe crossover with polarizing design. 🤷♂️
Not to mention the Trax has a 3 cyl engine... That is turbo charged... And that engine is made in Mexico... That's just a triple whammy in one package.
Zack, I have rented this exact car for a few days based on this review. Nice car, perfect as a rental, especially the 4wd with it snowing here in Maryland today.
I like the looks of that & the colors are very different & cool. I hope those 'Nature Sounds' are copy-right-free. Love the 80s video game theme the newer episodes have going on!
A bit odd-looking but Hyundai is going for distinctive designs. I was behind a new one for the first time the other day and I didn't know what it was until I saw the Kona logo. These will do fairly well. You have to admire Hyundai for doing clean-sheet designs instead of evolving their nameplates. Kiyundanesis's highlighter green is a striking color. I usually like bright colors but this is a bit too bold for me. There's a Genesis this color in my parking garage and it's eye-catching. GM quality. It's incredible how mediocre their cars are. I wonder if it was built while the union was striking. That's another reason why I always buy non-union when I can.
Looks acid green to me! Too bad Hyundai can't build an engine that doesn't guzzle oil . But at least you can listen to "sounds of nature" as you burn oil .
The Hyundai oil burning issue is the result of Hyundai propagating misinformation and refusing to walk it back. The bearings on the crankshaft are too damn thin for 0W-20 oil and then Hyundai goes full r*tard and recommends a 5k to 7k mile oil change interval! These should be running 5W-30 with a 3.5K mile oil change interval. This would stop 80% of the oil consumption, get rid of the GDi and go back to normal MPFI and all the issues would be gone.
Ironic that the best version of this car is the Electric one. The N seems great but that reliability and how you'll get done dirty at the service center....the EV takes the biggest problem out of the car : Hyundai's inability to make a solid ICE powertrain since the mid 00's.
I’m sorry, the backup camera is ABOVE ANY other brand. The resolution is unmatched in class and also , you failed to show the 3 different views with the backup camera.
They will not unfortunately, the 22-23' model year of the Kona N didn't do great sales wise and the new Ioniq 5N is essentially taking its spot anyway even as an EV.
I know styling is subjective but I honestly cannot stand this very odd and quite frankly ugly design language Hyundai has been using as of late. A shame as the fluidity styling they used before this made some very handsome and well aging vehicles in the twenty teens. These new vehicles Hyundai has been putting out just look goofy, and they are even worse on the inside where many parts of the interior look like they were made from toddler toys, cheap plastics, and just look, well, cheap and flimsy. And apparently I’m not alone in thinking this as a few I know that work as several Hyundai dealers have been saying the sales numbers have been taking a hit since the new styling updates.
I just got my 2024 Kona in Mirage green last week & have to say I fell in love with it on the lot. It's an SEL AWD. It has the shift on the floor & a bunch of good stuff. I love driving it. So happy with it so far.
@@aenoymotorsYeah I gotta give Hyundai credit here. That color is very energetic and cheerful compared to those grays, whites and blacks that sadly plague the roads these days. I hope more colors like this appear on more cars soon!

Great thing hyundai caters to its blind drivers. That is true inclusion right there.

@@baronvonjo1929That Trax... I saw it sitting there when I picked up a key card for the Kona today. Gave it the one finger salute as I left haha.
I just got mine yesterday!! LOVE IT!! Yellow color too!!
Great choice!
It will probably be easy to find it in the parking lot.

Love your new graphics and the looks are growing on me.
With every year, Pontiac Aztek looks better and better.

a chevy trax is basically a daewoo built in Chanwon South Korea
the kona looks kinda cool.

0:36 you forgot the short lived 1.5/2nd gen kona from 22-23 that imo looks better
Great looking car, I’d say the colour of it is lime rather than yellow but just me. Go for leather seats and better spec and it’s cool

I like the new intro music!
I love my 2022 Kona SEL, but I like the 2022 design much better than the new one.
I prefer the size of the old Kona. Nothing else like it on the market
23’ gang wya?
Like the Kona. And seeing colors on cars, again, is great!!! Hope they get a hybrid out soon or for me it would be out of contention.
I like how the sounds of “nature” all include instruments now

My only concern is the possible lack of light from the low small headlights. Has anyone drove one at night on a foggy road?
The headlights work great! I can see pretty good even out in the middle of nowhere.
The lights are very bright!
why don't the running lights in the front go all the way across? Is that only on the higher-end models?
Sadly that seems to be a U.S. thing. I drove a SEL EV and a Limited with the turbo and both had the same front lights as mine here.
I still prefer the look of the previous Kona to this one. It just looks better.
Is this one of the high risk cars for easy break ins?
No. Push button start.
No it has built in GPS too
How’s the reactive change in speed with this engine? Like trying to overtake on the highway and such?
It's not a speed demon but it's perfectly fine. I recently drove it down to St. Louis and back and it was wonderful.
I own it and it's terrible for overtaking. I used to zip past cars in my civic 1.5 turbo. The 2.0 Kona, I find myself having to back off a lot more
I’m sorry, the backup camera is ABOVE ANY other brand. The resolution is unmatched in class and also , you failed to show the 3 different views with the backup camera.
Not even the only bright colour u can get they also have orange
Hi, can somebody explain to me how to get rid of the reverse auto brake?
I absolutely despise those headlight, it reminds me of when the grand Cherokee did the same thin awful headlights
I love the Kona but I'm looking forward if they ever release the N of this, because the other models are just so dull performance wise.
They will not unfortunately, the 22-23' model year of the Kona N didn't do great sales wise and the new Ioniq 5N is essentially taking its spot anyway even as an EV.
@@svaresz Ahhh. I don't even recall them coming here or even having a release date. The timing was unfortunate too with the pandemic. Ah well.
How about a yeti mug?
I like the color
Can anyone confirm the SEL comes with the twisty shifter? On Hyundai's site, the SEL is imaged with a standard P-R-N-D shifer in the center.
I believe it's only the SELs with convenience package that comes with the twisty shifter
I have the SEL AWD w/out conv pkge. My shifter is on the floor. Did not want the twisty thing!
Aztek. Exists.
Hyundai, hold my beer!

Funny that he traded a korean car for a korean car.
The shifter is weird.. don't have time for that shit

This is a finalist in the “ugliest car ever” category.
Which is funny, it’s a very polarizing car! I love how it looks, love the color, it got my cheap ass to consider buying a new car finally.
It has a very bold design.
