      This isn't "Europe's war" it's an American-.driven proxy war (with Kiev as a willing accomplice (and battleground), but without the US they would never have provoked it).
      NATO/EU are basically tools here. Ideally, European leaders should have refused to have anything to do with this mess from day one, they should even have told Kiev in advance around 2020: "we're not going to put European peace, safety and energy supplies n the line for your sake. If you pitch a war with Russia, then you're on your own except for possibly help from the US, whatever they might offer!". That would have poured some cold water on it in advance.
      But it was obviously hard to say that, when they're all part of or closely tied to NATO, with the US as their top dog. Plus they are more or less brainwashed into accepting whatever America does on the world stage.
      It seems the EU and their elites can only learn something from this through a resounding defeat for Ukraine that would taint their own credibility. That kind of defeat has happened many times before in European history.

    • @f.vanderhelm598

      It is an European war as the US will not be able to act on any important scale now it is clear that Trump winning or losing the november elections will create a totally devided country that will give enormous riots that paralysis the economy and ends its foreign polices. Rising costs is Shell Production in the US has made the cost of 155mm shells increase by 7 times since the start of the Russian military operation in the former Ukraine. The US was producing 14,000 shells per month in 2022 - New York Times. Now it is only 28,000 per month at many times the cost. Russia on the other hand produce 4-5 million per year at the cost of $600 per shell. Before Ukraine's failed Summer Offensive, it was firing 5-10,000 per day.
    Antimony is a semi-metal used in Shell Production, the US is almost out of this essential metal, and Russia and China are the biggest manufacturers of it in the world.
    Europe produces 4,000 shells per month - Financial Times

Plus logistic lines being much shorter for Russia. NATO strategy’s seem to not really work on developed nations very well where as the Russians had this whole war to adapt tactics.

    • @IntoTheVoid1981
      @IntoTheVoid1981 8 месяцев назад +6

      @theannoyinghistorian1812 As an artillerist I would say that the main reason is the high probability of compromising the positions of artillery pieces and counter-artillery fires. For a creeping barrage, where the fire must cover a huge piece of land with a satisfactory density of fire in multiple rows, you need at least 3-4 artillery battalions (6-8 batteries) firing simultaneously. This is 36-48 artillery pieces that fire the mission during the advance of the infantry. That is slow - for dismounted infantry around 3-5 minutes/100 meters. The infantry dismounts around 600-800 meters from the enemy positions, so it means that the barrage has to be upheld for around 700 meters x 4 minutes/100 meters = 28 minutes. The artillery has to manouver with the fire everytime the infantry closes in at 400 meters (this is the safety distance). Half an hour artillery barrage with 48 pieces means around 1500 shells fired. This means plenty-plenty of time for the enemy reconaissance for measuring the positions, establish coordinates and arrange counter-artillery fires. It would be death for the artillery. That is why they do not use this method in this environment.

      Это очень просто. Если у них тысяча дронов, вы даете им три тысячи целей; что-то дешевле дрона; палатка, куча пустых деревянных ящиков, яма в земле. Они вынуждены уничтожать очень много, просто на случай, если они что-то скрывают, но если они попытаются уничтожить каждую цель, у них скоро закончатся дроны - без причинения потерь.
      It's so easy. If they've got a thousand drones, you give them three thousand targets; something cheaper than a drone; a tent, a pile of empty wooden crates, a hole in the ground. They are forced to destroy a great many, just in case they're concealing something, but if they try to destroy every target, they'll soon run out of drones - without inflicting loses.

    Update for the conflict in Ukraine for January 28, 2024…
    - The collective West is grappling with critical shortages of artillery ammunition Ukraine requires to continue fighting against Russian forces;
    - The Western media admits that US-European attempts to expand production will take years and still fall short of even current Russian production numbers;
    - Conflicts elsewhere are placing additional strain on NATO artillery shell stockpiles;
    - Western analysts and commentators are contemplating increasingly desperate measures to speed up production increases, including sacrificing quality and safety, something they’ve all recently criticized Russia for doing as it expands munition production;
    - Ukrainian “activists” complain about their difficulty in selling continued Western support for Ukraine to the Western public;
    - There is an attempt to portray the conflict in Ukraine as “existential” for the West, claiming that Russia will end up moving further west if it wins in Ukraine;
    - This dismisses the reality surrounding the current conflict in Ukraine, the preceding decades of aggressive NATO expansion up to Russia’s borders, and NATO’s use of proxies to attack Russia on its borders; - The New Atlas

Instead, adapting and focusing on small unit penetrations in conjuction with FPV and artillery... Wagner style. Likely holding back armor for major operations, and for maneuvering soldiers behind or to the line of contact. I'm surprised it took them this long to figure this out seeing as this is the conclusion Ukranians came to by the end of their counter-offensive, and how they got most of their gains in Robotyne.

    6:34 This is something i can't understand. How is it even possible that a personal carrier faces an enemy tank alone? Where was the recon? I would understand it when its a supply line and kind of advanced ambush, but this is the attack direction, why there was no escort? Like in a computer game when you order your unit to move and forget about it until it gets destroyed when it goes too far. Can somebody explain the situation there a bit more in detail as i don't understand it how this could even possibly happen that way.

    • @SanarySeggnete
      @SanarySeggnete 8 месяцев назад +2

      Personal carrier is the recon, Russia side have lots of mercenary soldiers came from all around the world, they don't mind sending some of them forward as tank bait. If the tank was slow on the retreat, it would be 2 destroyed vehicles in that road instead of one (the chance that it already got destroyed is very high...). Sending someone or something forward to discover enemy positions is not a new tactic in this war, both sides actively using it.
      And yeah, many Personal carriers can easily turn a tank into a fireball nowadays.

      Thanks for your answers, i think its something in between your both proposals, then it makes sense. As for Personal carriers turning easily tanks into fireballs, i have to strongly disagree. F.e. the 25mm autocannon "Bushmaster" of the Bradleys can't penetrate the armor of tanks with ablative armor, its physically not possible. It can damage the optics and could possibly destroy the smoke launchers, but nothing more, no fireballs. .

This kind of hand missile had gone off the production lines years ago, and since the Ukrainians found it easy to use, they took to it with enthusiasm and soon used up most of the US and NATO stockpiles of it. To get production going again to scale would take years, so the US stopped sending any more of it already a year ago.
