Do you have a singing teacher or how are you learning to sing? ❤️
I sing in the shower! Does that count? 🤔
I took an opera class many years ago but these days I consider myself entirely self-taught!
Do you think, Floor, that someone that does not sing nice, can learn how to?
I have a great singing teacher and I study other singers on how they stand and move their mouth to pronounce certain words to make it stand out and such.
I do now I guess

I can't think of a better teacher than the best singer in the world.
Who's that?
Its defently true floor is the best voise Teather in the wold

Exactly! Thats what I was thinking... this is the big gift ever.. to be able to learn from the best...
Exactly what I was just thinking, why not have the Queen teach you?
My singing teacher was Floor Jansen for 2 weeks! ❤️ Love these memories from 2012. Great, that you share this with the world now!
You put those lessons to good use, you have a beautiful voice.
@@maxmattt Thank you so much Max!
WOW how cool is that !! =D
Well, this explains a lot!
lucky
It is funny that thousands of people are watching this that don’t sing and plan on never singing. The power of Floor, we would watch her read ingredients off a soup can.
So true, she's just beyond adorable ! Just watching her is enough to make me feel happy. How is that even possible ??
Lol, probably. She's so cool.
"The techniques are just tools for the story you want to tell"
Words of wisdom!
And she is the consummate storyteller.
Amen ✌🏻
I’ll ruin ur 69 likes number 😂😂
...As are words.
Amen
If you have stress in your jaw, Let It Go
Now that she's doing vocal coaching on RUclips... is she gonna react to "Nightwish - Ghost Love Score"?
I honestly think that would be an extremely entertaining react video 😅
hahaha
Lol it'd be great. 🤣
This aged well :D
we gonna ignore the fact how awesome it is to see both nightwish and sabaton posters behind?...
And those golden and platinum albums!
Just awesome posters and awards :) Forgot to remind in my own comment, you did well, dear friend :)
And After Forever. My favorite band ever. The only time Floor sounds better than in After Forever is when Arjen is writing for her.
I can't sing to save my life but it's Floor Jansen, so yeah... I'm watching 😂😍
Same here!!!
Same here, my cat is a better singer than I am but Floor is just SO adorable...
The fact that you are humble enough to do this shows why you are the best singer in the universe. I only discovered you a couple of years ago but I have gone through your entire RUclips catalogue. I find you to be a beautiful human being in every aspect. Please be safe and take care of yourself, you are a blessing to us all.
I totally agree, i think Floor is a real inspiration in so many ways. ♥️
It’s my birthday today, and the Valkryie herself is giving vocal lessons. What moreeeee of a gift can I ask for?! Thank youu Floor!
Happy birthday!
A happy birthday from the Queen herself!!! Congratulations are in order!!! 🎉🥳🤘

So true.
Dear Floor, thankyou so much sharing your knowledge! This is a bliss.
My pleasure 😊
90% of viewers here aren't, and never will be, singers. It's just Floor in a thumbnail = click, it's in the contract.
I mean. It's Floor. She makes cool content and I'm at least curious of how someone as good as her, with past vocal coach experience, presents this info. Also, I have to give Floor her due view on the video anyway.
If all the people here sings along NW songs, we definitely need this lessons. 😂 It will be better for all of us in the long run if we knew how to breathe while singing because the songs in Human Nature are difficult and we have to practice for the coming concerts!!! 😂 We don’t want people losing their voices and passing out because they didn’t breathe!!! 😎🤘
And here am I who is a singer but don't know who Floor Jansen even is
@@skurkenswe4708 Not many people in your Venn diagram :)
@@skurkenswe4708 Hopefully you will know her now!!! 🤘🤘🤘Welcome!!!
Am I gonna become a singer? No. Will I watch and listen to whatever Floor puts out? Hell yes.
I´ve never been this excited to watch something in my LIFE.
I have terrible voice and im not really interested in singing, but jesus i just enjoy every moment spent watching her talking... She is so admirable
Floor has an incredible charisma and her English is perfect. I love watching her and listening to her voice. I love Floor ❤️
This is just unbelievable. Having such a world class artist sharing this with the world. Thank you so much Floor.
Why do I find this woman so relaxing when she talks ? I could listen to her talking all day.
For me, it's the dutch accent. Have you ever heard Anneke van Giersbergen speak? If not, you should try.
It's the energy! So positive, it comes through a video to you. Thanks Floor. One last thing more US tour dates please!?
I could listen to her talk all day. ♡ Even if she spoke about the grass, the trees, what she had for lunch. I am there.
I feel the same! I was watching/listening like hipnotized!
@@SiboWoW Me too, I find it incredibly soothing. If she were to record an audio book I would listen to it all the time!
Im using this to motivate my daughter to take singing lessons because she has such a beautiful voice but is too insecure to even try it! You are such an inspiration!!! Thank you for this Floor! ❤️
"Your reach might be different"
Given who's talking to us here, I think that's a given 😘❤️ I don't think there are a lot of people with your kind of range.
Yes! I can’t sing, but I watched and learned something new at least!!! ❤️
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and experience; it's great to learn from one of the best voices ever
Floor hello from South Carolina I just wanted to say I think you are the greatest vocalist on this planet I absolutely love you.
Your studio is soooo cool and lovely!
Glad you like it!
I have zero talent for singing, but I'm totally watching this entire series to find out more about the technical side of Floor's awesomeness
same here 😉
Me too !
Dittos here! Life is a learning journey...and one might as well have a good companion along for the ride to teach you something new.
Bodies are instruments. Some are like a fine-tuned custom purple EV-1. Mine is more like a half-eaten untuned banjo.
Atleast you have a banjo...🍭
Dear Floor, some months ago as I was studying "Ever Dream" I dreamt you were teaching me how to sing it right, so this masterclass it's like my dream comes true!!! I love it!
It would be really cool to get Marcela Bovio on a Floor finds, to talk about vocal techniques and how they've changed. Awesome video though.
Oh my goodness, I thought the same thing. That interview Marcela did on the 'Mary-Jess Meets...' video podcast
made me long for a Floor-Marcela summit. It would be a vocal nerds dream come true! :D
I agree, but what I would also like to see would be a session between Floor and Elisabeth Zharoff. I love too watch her react to music, her expressions are as good as the music itself. And she is an absolute vocal nerd, she has made me appreciate artists like Floor even more than I did before I found her YT channel.
I wouldn't mind an interview with both Marcela and Elisabeth 😁
Anneka van Giersbergen as well
@@nightwishisthegreatestband6355 Always.
“Teeth actually... if I have several” 😂😂😂😂
Absolutely amazing! Thank you so much Floor for sharing your knowledge and experience ❤
Any time!
@@FloorJansenOfficial I'm really looking forward to learning more in the next master class and of course any other content you share. Hope all is well with you and your family, thank you again ❤
Floor Jansen is just a global treasure and must be protected at all cost.
Very good points made!
I have a master's degree in music education specializing in vocals from the academy of music, and I have been teaching as my full time job for 12 years, both in person and online.
Floor gives some very good advice and point out some very important things about the mindset of singing and the importance of having a good teacher.
I'm very excited for the masterclasses to come!
And Floor, if you're reading this, I hope you will continue to do these videos.
90% of the online, self proclaimed, voice teachers are in it for the money, and want to sell you a method that may or may not work for you. Scams, singers pretending to be teachers, non educated people doing one way communication without any deeper knowledge overwhelm RUclips these days.
From what I see and hear in this video, you're far from this.
I sure hope you keep doing these videos and keep showing that hard work and a good teacher is the way to a good voice. There are no magic buttons or "five zuper exerzizez" that turn you into a vocal moster over night.
Floor taking an interest in her fans and followers. Not once, not twice but on a regular basis. This is what makes a loved QUEEN.
Oh wow Floor you are amazing for doing this! To answer your question - yes I have had vocal lessons (classical method) but I haven't really sung in ten years. Thank you making me want to dust off my Mezzo-Soprano! I'm excited for the classes!
How much do we love just listening to this woman talk?
Vocal training from the Queen 👑
You put an END to all vocal coaches here in RUclips, Floor. 👏
Floor, it's obvious in this first masterclass clip, besides being an artist, you are a true experienced and seasoned professional teacher as well. You stand straight up, relaxed and with confidence, talk straight on, no hesitations, no mistakes, you know exactly what you want to say, why to say it, how to say it, and no auto cue needed. Congratzz to you on this very nice new Floor - RUclips series. I hope, for the next episodes, we may hear you actually sing some samples now and then for the viewer to practice and exercise, and for the non-singers watching, just lovely to listen to. Love all your work, including your work as a vocal teacher, and wish you many many new RUclips subscribers. You are clearly happy and 'in the zone', and that is very inspiring to all of us. I learned to sing myself without a teacher by very very good listening to my own recordings and feeling my body and inner emotions. In my humble opinion, as a professional singer you are one of the best vocal 'emotion translators' in the world today, and i would love to learn more about that specific aspect of singing in your series. Thank you for everything you give us, highly appreciated, you're the best of the best. With love, Paul
The buzz word "master class" is used way too often and way too easy by rather mediocre teachers and coaches these days. But if it really applies to anyone, it surely is Floor. Probably even not enough. She's the real master!
"fortunately I have multiple teeth." Had to pause the video cause I was laughing loooordy.
Okay... All together now “let it gooo, let it gooo, let it gooo, let it gooooooooooo”
that "peace sign" at 9:47 brings me so much happiness
OH MAI GOOOOOOD!!!! the real Valkyria, goddess of music and metal teaching how to sing!!! I'm in heaven
I'm too old to start thinking of learning to sing. I've studied and played classical music for years, and have a great appreciation for many genres of music. I love great singing, especially when a vocalist has the discipline necessary to train and learn the different styles of singing. I've listened to you sing so many different styles and how easily and effortlessly you appear to express the vocal range, color and texture, yet knowing how much work and dedication it takes to ascertain your level of expertise. I want to thank you for all that you've shared and have given us. Words alone cannot express the joy your singing has given me. I wish you all the happiness, prosperity and peace that the world has to offer. I believe you're one of the greatest and most versatile vocalists on the planet. Again Thank You.
This is like a magician showing how she does her tricks. :)
As a multiple black belt holder, I wholly support going over the basics with a master series, no matter your skill level. Nobody, not even the best and greatest masters, will always have 100% perfect basics. I sing like a robot with a cold, so I have no claim to ability with singing, but I will be watching every one of these videos intently.
So the best singer in the world IMO is going to upload a series of masterclass. That motivates me to try it.
You're so generous... Many would pay big $$ to watch these videos, and you upload them for free! Thank you Floor! Much love from Canada ❤️🌞
I have been singing in my church since 2013, but I feel that I never sang correctly, because I feel a lot of discomfort in my throat and I breathe wrongly. But there was an improvement after watching some videos on the internet. I'm really excited about the next videos in this series! Greetings from Brazil Floor, and to all who also follow the channel ^^
Omg wow. We talked about her being a vocal coach and now we get to see it live! Holy shit.
I can't sing a tone but can't stop watching...
My favorite vocalist addressing my biggest problem when it comes to singing? That must be a dream… An awesome dream! Thanks so much!
We should start writing down Floor quotes... 🤔 She always have inspirational/interesting things to say in her interviews or whatever videos she does. 👑
It all starts with breathing just like in meditation, Tai Chi, or martial arts. From there posture and various techniques are important but as you as say the first step is to start with the basics. Master those then procedure further. That us where a teacher is important as guide and as you say provide feedback to what you are doing.
Thank you, Floor for sharing you knowledge based your study and experience.
You are one special person Floor. Thank you.
I would never have imagined being so attentive in a class but I think it's because of the teacher ... what a problem I think I'm in love ... Floor is amazing
When the godness talks one listens.
"You can't start coloring before you've mapped out the outlines of your painting." Great quote!
You know what they say. Learn from the best.
Oh, I love your Kalevala Tunturimarja necklace, I have the earrings myself ❤️
I love it! Cool to hear that you have those!
I’ve been singing my whole life, my mother allways said that I learned to sing before I learned to speak 😊 I have sung in choirs a lot. Only time that I had teacher in singing was when I was in theater school in my twenties and I was taught by finnish singer/theater director Taiska. She was great teacher and I learned to breathe right, made a huge difference to my singing. I lost a part of my vocal range because of my thyroid operation and had to practise it back, took me 3 years to get it like it was before. I love singing so much but only as a hobby today.
"Practice in front of a mirror." This makes me feel less insane. Fortunately, I have a mirror door and enough space to stand in front of it and it's my go to place to practice singing, speeches (If I gotta speak in front of a crowd), interviews (yes, job interviews) and acting. Some people used to tell me I'm slightly crazy for using the mirror for 'feedback' for myself.
Not at all, it's an excellent thing to do, even if you're not a singer and just use it to practice job interviews 👌
PLEASE don't stop this!!!
Floor: Best singer in the world!!! 👏👏👏👏
I love the way Floor moves her fingers as she explains the techniques and all.
Yubi yubi~
Kijk dit is nou 1 van die momenten dat ik toch wel een beetje trots ben om een nederlander te zijn. Vind het ook een mooi detail dat er zowel Sabaton posters als Nightwish posters hangen. Ik hou heel erg van beide bands!
Absolutely love the After Forever banner in the back
Hallo, you know, that Floor works with Joost for her Soloalbum🤗 (Floor Storytime # 4 )
This is not exaggeration, but Floor Jansen is one of the most talented singers of all time. Beautiful and powerful vocals also really sweet human being.
Ye know the 10 THUMBS DOWN's are other VOCAL COACHES!
This so cool ,for young people, who start to sing. The Basics..from the Queen. Hear, what she teached you. Holy crap, how good is this?..🥰😊👍
Floor 👌💗🎶
Thank you! I'm looking forward to the next class!
When my mum came into my room, I paused the video and my mum was like
"Oh, isn't that Morticia Addams?"
Me:
"No, MUM, that's Floor."
I laughed so hard!
Lots of love, Julia from Austria
To have singing lessons with your favorite singer is priceless.
Thank you so much ♥️

hello Floor thanks for the uploading, great explanation , 11 people gave a thumd down I presume they learned already so much from this lesson that they think they need no further lessons
I know for sure, that you make the world a better place, floor.
There are many who claim to be voice coaches on RUclips, but here we have the real deal! One more reason to love you. 💗
Thank you Floor. This is very interesting and you are great.
I look forward to the next one.
Looking forward to more of such master-classes! Wow!!!
A Floor Jansen masterclass?!
Holy shit
I am not ready
Thank you so much for doing this! It's crazy that you're doing masterclasses for free.
she speaks with so much passion.
Best female vocalist in the world giving singing lessons??? Awesome. You are amazing Floor. Keep up the great work!!
Omg my dreams came true 🖤 Floor is my vocal teacher now. Almost 😂
"You cannot start coloring before you've mapped out the outlines of your painting."
"Your reach might be different",.... that's quite the understatement dear Floor. What a great initiative , I'm sure you'll be responsible for some fantastic talent in the future inspired by you as a person, your music and your masterclasses.
Ooh, Floor is wearing Finnish Kalevala -jewelry, this necklace design is called Tunturimarja, "fell berry". Very nice, very pretty!
Correct!!
Also, your studio is just the coolest!!
I'm a Viola player and the mirror thing is a very good advice for everyone, most of the time we only see our teacher once a week, but the other six days you need to see what you're doing with your body.
Great class Floor, looking forward for the next one 🖤
Can't wait for the next lesson already
Please make more of this cause i dont have a vocal coach but now i have opportunity to learn from the best
It was very interesting to learn that you don't have to move your jaw forward and that one way to control it is to put your finger between your teeth and see if you were doing it or not. I didn't know about muscles either! It was a great class !! Thank you very much Floor! I love u
Thanks for the great content! Even for non-singers, it was very interesting to watch. It's so cool that you always come up with something new for your fans. Respect!
What a great way to start a class! 👍🤘
Glad you think so!
@@FloorJansenOfficial Looking forward to your next lesson! Btw I loved your version of the Frozen cover!
@Floor, that was an Awesome first masterclass. I love the fact that you focused on. The basics. You can’t build on anything without a solid foundation.
I am looking at learning to sing and will definitely be following all your master classes.
Thank you for an Awesome video and for staying humble (not like some singing coaches). You are very clear and concise in your explanations. Looking forward to my learning journey!!!
Thank you,

It's fascinating to see yet another facet of you - the teacher. Thank you for being so open an generous with your time. I have problems sustaining notes because due to a severe curvature of the spine and having to sit down (I'm a wheelchair user) my lung capacity is compromised. I can sing songs that are well within my (quite deep) range, but notes tend to peter-out when I try to go up.
Also, congratulations on the success of your cover of Let It Go.
In that case Tim Akkerman's song is also for you, PageMonster, but of course in Floor's version!
@@jamesschwarz007 Tim's brother actually has the same spinal condition as me. 😉
I see Floor I click and hit like immediately. This was so fun.
If there is one silver lining to this pandemic, artists such as Floor are finding new and interesting ways to engage their fans (and create new ones). Someday all of this will be over, but I am really cherishing the interviews, the teaching, getting to know these artists and their friends better in more candid and personal settings. I do hope that when people such as Floor get out on stage again in front of live audiences, not only will their audiences increase, but somehow (albeit less frequently when their schedules resume), that such interviews and lessons can continue in some way. I personally really appreciate them.
-Dont stress your jaw-This video probably helped me the most. When I recorded two hours reading of my poems, yesterday at the Shaark sound studio in Bzenec,Czech, the sound engineer told me- That's good, you know it- how to breathe, how to relax ... how to read ...- and I said: You know , I'm taking singing lessons from Floor Jansen! - It was one of the first videos I've seen ... and I'll never miss school again! Thanks, Floor.
