Glad to see you enjoyed this a lot more! I'll second The Nexus, that was the first Amaranthe song I heard and one of their most well known. Massive Addictive, the title track off this song's album, is another insanely catchy song. Then again, this band has a lot of catchy songs.
Glad you like that more, now you have to check out BOOM!1 or GG6 :D Edit: Also, you should do a Sabaton's 82nd All The Way reaction and then compare it to Amaranthe's cover of this song.
Glad you enjoyed this one! Love the challenge back to the people getting angry for you not liking that first song. "Helix" and "the Nexus" are good ones to do next.
OK, so to get Tank to watch Epica, I just need to insult him in the right way! Tank, your mother was a hamster and your father smells of elderberries! In all seriousness, thanks again for this great musical journey you are taking us on; living alone this year in lockdown, the music and the live chats with their banter is greatly appreciated. This channel is built on how awesome a human being you are, and that shines through the videos.
@@TankTheTech speaking of gold, can I convince you to check out Design Your Universe? Live at Retrospect, so gear and production to check out (and the song is great too)
Good points made at the start of this reaction. Music is so varied you can't like everything and even stuff in the same genre you probably won't like, which surprises some folks. I'm with you all the way on that one!
Big smile to my face! Never thought I would see "Eurovision" in one of your reaction videos. But you are spot on. It wouldn't be out of place on the show, and as well as the chord progression there is a euro-techno vibe to the drums. Seriously great channel and love the info on the equipment.
Tbh, Eurovision is far from being a single-genre music competition, as it tends to be just a collection of the worst pop songs from each country as the songs have to be brand new. It's more of a reality TV show built around music, been that for ages. I see a lot of community spirit in it too, with some friends/acquaintances gathering together to watch the show and talk about it. Some use it for political messages, some for humanitarian, human rights etc. causes. Which is definitely a great aspect of it. I've never really been a fan of pop music, so Eurovision hasn't resonated with me either. Maybe ABBA being the only exception ever :D
I love that you take so much of what your audience says into consideration! I think it’s a big part of why I keep coming back to your channel over other reaction channels. You’re just genuinely enjoyable to watch and I’ve learned a lot about gear as well. I’ll drop a recommendation for Sign of the Dragonhead by Leaves Eyes
glad u like this one, its indeed one of their best songs! the composition and editing is crazy good. and elize's voice is just ♥ shes such a sweet person !
Elize Ryd was Nightwish lead singer in one show 😆 She and Alissa from Arch Enemy step up for Annette who was sick. Then, came Floor. You can see that in the vídeo "Please learn our setlist in 48h"
Drop dead cynical was the song that introduced me to this band, also from this album. Would love to get your thoughts and watch your reaction to that one!
Hunger from the first album and Nexus from the second album are probably their overall most popular songs, and they´re really good both of them. A real banger would be to do sabaton 82nd all the way, and then do amaranthes version right after to compare the two ^^ My personal favorite is Archangel from the latest album, such a sweet chorus on that song.
Forget the gear, forget about the music for a moment...let's take a moment to appreciate how fucking badass this video is! The effects and camera angles are spot on. :>
Back to Amaranthe I see. Yeah, for me they're usually hit or miss... some of their songs are awesome, many are.... yeah, less so. Anyways, apart from Skalmold, I'm really looking forward to the return of Blind Guardian, Iced Earth or Sabaton on your channel most of all. But one of the things I'm really looking forward for you to check as well is Demons & Wizards - Crimson King / Fiddler on the Green (live in Wacken). :)
Yeah, I describe Amaranthe as the kind of music you put on when going to workout. They have some solid tracks, some exception ballards, but always a bit hit and miss. Fyi my fave Amaranthe song is also off this album (Over and Done)
I really liked your remark of Amaranthe being Eurovision-like because that's I have been thinking too. Most of their songs clock approximately 3 minutes and have catchy choruses and the typical pop song structure. Amaranthe certainly is a modern metal adaptation of Swedish pop music tradition! Not that this would be a bad thing, I myself shamelessly love them!
I am happy that because of you, I know now a little bit more about Amaranthe. I discovered them with their Sabaton cover "82nd all the way", and I really loved it. I know you already reacted to Sabaton and actually really like them, so you might be interested by looking at that song (maybe a double-reaction / comparison between the 2). :) Great video as always Tank! Rock on!
This is why I like your reactions so fucking much. You tell honestly if you dont like some songs, you dont try to pretend in hope of more subs. Keep being honest, you are awesome!
Now this is Amaranthe at their best! Also while you’re on the whole digital/technology theme, check out Orden Ogan and their latest single “In the Dawn of the AI”. It’ll get you ready for their new album when it drops later this month.
I'll never understand why people get upset because someone doesnt 'like' things they like. As for more Amaranthe songs, there's plenty. To mention one, it would be "Hunger" thats the first song I heard with them, and what got me hooked.
They have a kind of power ballad-y song called "Amaranthine" that was one of my brother's favorite songs. I dont know if it's because the song is really good, or if I just miss him, or both, but that song gives me all kinds of feelings every time. Even when I don't love one of their songs, I'm still always impressed with how tight of a band they are.
So glad to see you reacting to another Amaranthe song! Massive Addictive was a great album, so was Nexus. I LOVE "Do or Die" which I saw someone else recommend (mostly bc it's SO CATCHY), "The Nexus", "Drop Dead Cynical" and "Dynamite" are some of my favs. Hope you continue checking these guys out! Good luck getting this song unstuck from your head haha!
Really glad you came back to these guys, definitely worth checking out again. One of the bands you mentioned in your facts was dragonland......you definitely need to check them out. Also gonna throw out more suggestions for blind guardian, babymetal, sabaton, iced earth and kamelot. Keep up the good work!!
Thank you for pronouncing Rammstein correctly.👌 Seriously. Not many youtubers can do that.😁 The trivia throughout the video is brilliant. I've never seen another reaction channel do that. (Except for the Fine brothers of course.) Oh and your headbanging is awesome!😁🤘 This is the first video I've seen on your channel. But I liked it so much that you now got one more subscriber👍 Keep rockin'🤘
I didn't watch the previous reaction and just started on this one and nah, this is not my piece of cake. But music tastes are subjective indeed. I like your honesty instead of not liking something and faking it for the sake of the reaction and getting more subscribers (I got that feeling at times with some other reactors).
Considering you liked this, you like the Rammstein-esque industrial sound, and you've liked a number of other similar stuff I just have to recommend: Scar Symmetry - Morphogenesis (It's one of their most popular songs, and it's also a good introduction to the band imo. Unfortunately it doesn't have any good live video that I know of, but the official music video is really good) As always, thanks for the great content Tank! :)
I’m so happy you like this one! It’s a really cool track, love the digital manipulation as you mentioned! The newer stuff is more experimental as they keep bringing more influences and styles into their special blend. Can’t wait to see your next choice!
I really get where you're coming from. Amaranthe is a bit of a strange phenomenon to me, since there's songs like Digital World and Call Out My Name that I can easily count to my favorite songs of all time, while others that use mostly similar elements (and also are from the same albums) just really don't hook with me for some reason I don't understand (like Fearless). Also make sure to check out Do Or Die with Angela Gossow ;-) (and 82nd All The Way of course, one of the best both Sabaton and Amaranthe - songs)
I figured you’d start to warm to them Tank. Next up : The Nexus Helix Also, Amaranthe are so high energy that they make a great gym workout playlist option. 🤘🏻🙂
Thanks for doing this and kudos for doing another Amaranthe reaction! Big smile on my face when you said you had the "Fearless" chorus stuck in your head :D So many Swedish and Finnish bands that are so great at writing these really catchy "Eurovision" type of choruses. I love it! Did you check out Battle Beast or Beast in Black? Also killer catchy choruses, and phenomenal vocalists.
I thought you'd like the older stuff more, cause the songwriting and general production is 'better' or more fitting together. You could go all the way back to "Hunger" next! That was I think their first single. That is where their sound started. "the Nexus" is also a very good one and both songs have videos with a really high production level ;) Keep up the great content man!
I get it. Not everything is for anyone. Some bands have a more universal appeal than others. GHØSTKID really isn't my thing. Nothing against the band themselves. Just not my thing. If Power Pop Metal isn't your thing, you might not have liked Fearless either.
GG6 from Amaranthe is also really good. It’s a lot more centered on the harsh vocals and the overall vibe of it is a bit more heavy! I think you’ll like it since it’s easier to headbang to it 🤘🏻
Talking about Eurovision Song contest... There is one Winner you might like. Finland has won contest Once and did it by this Song Lordi - Hard Rock Hallelujah ruclips.net/video/CPU8xXY3wJo/видео.html Video is winners home coming gig at Helsinki. And as Song title tells It's little different than usually winners. And band is also different than most rock bands...
One does not just make an album that has all around perfect tracks that everyone likes, maybe Hybrid Theory. Glad that you got into this one and a spot on entertaining reaction as always!
Amaranthe was my gateway drug into metal. Dynamite off of the same album was my first time really sitting down and saying to myself I want to get into metal. Therefore Massive Addictive was the first Metal Album I listened to all the way. Then came australian post hardcore band Sienna Skies. As Fall Out Boy said Thnks fr th Mmrs, Tank!
Amaranthe is one of my favorite bands close behind Disturbed as my favorite of all and completely get their sound is different and not for everyone, glad you gave them another chance. Of their older songs I completely recommend “The Nexus” and from their newer songs recommended “Helix” or “Archangel”
Can't believe you caved THAT quick )))) Fine line on using synths in metal and these 2 songs are a perfect case study on the difference between Wacken and Eurovision :)
New Sub here... Amaranthe search popped you up. kick***! As a fan of a lot of Amaranthe's music... I'm actually with you there in your feelings about "Fearless". I see their music as components layered upon another.. almost making a 3-dimensional sound. "Digital World", Nexus", even "True" and Amaranthine" hold true to this. "Fearless" sounds like there was "not quite enough" or "too much". To me it affected the synergy of the song.. and had me shaking my head. Hats off to picking up another song and giving them another look. I'll see where this runs.. looking forward to the next one.
As a fan of the band, I do agree with you that music is subjective. Not everyone is going to like everything. But as far as Amaranthe goes I think their approach is great. Heavy riffs with catchy hooks and choruses and three different types of vocals. It's metal, it's rock, and a bit of pop. It's feel good music. Check out their songs, Archangel, Viral, Hunger, The Nexus. All great rockers.
365 is a kickass song, you cant really do a better introduction to a new singing talent than that... thanks to it I also checked that singer's home band Dynazty, and maaaan are they great... the last three albums including the latest one (Dark Delight) are just pure melodic metal heaven :) you can even hear the charisma in the voice \m/
I’m so happy you liked the older song. Perhaps it was a different producer? Oh well. Also, I loved your respond to “Reason #3” XD. In future video’s with Amaranth, would you be able to include more discussion on Olof’s rig and sound? I think that his lead guitar doesn’t sound like anyone else. Thanks!
Hey Tank, as usual great reaction and gear analysis, Amaranth is constantly changing thruough Eurovision to Arch Enemy vibe, some fun facts Did you that Elize auditioned for Nigthwish when the fired Tarja? Another fun fact when Annete got sick in US tour, they've played a show with Elize and Alissa (from Arch Enemy) both of them fill the gap for that show, then Floor flew to join them for the rest of the US leg, again bro great reaction, I"d love gear analysis!!!!
definitely glad your liking the older stuff. Their recent manifest album is for sure a transition album, the entirety of it is them trying new sounds and new ways to do it. just as an example, theres songs that doesnt have Elize in it and its just Nils and Henrick, theres a song with just Nils and Elize, theres a song that has 2 different duets, 1st being Elize and the bands manager on vocals and the album version is just Nils and Henrick. it all sounds really good for sure but it is an album to transition to. my suggestions for the next one is The Nexus or 82nd all the way, battle of the bands between amaranthe and sabaton!!
As you brought up the Eurovision Song Contest here, maybe check out the previous winner Lordi from Finland. Let's say they won with an "unusual" song 😉
Really cool of you to pick up another Amaranthe song - and I personally agree with you! (Not just on the individual tastes thing, that is kinda obvious.) There are Amaranthe songs I personally skip, but then there are some that I really dig. Doesn't mean anything apart from that, and let's not go into genre and subgenre wars, let's just enjoy stuff we feel is good. Bit partial to Amaranthe as a band seeing I've got to meet them a few times (seeing they're from the same city, they've had a few small gigs here, some great acoustic shows with 50-100 people), great people to hang with and talk to! Do or Die (with Angela Gossow) isn't a bad suggestion, you might not like it but hey, it might be worth checking out. :) Bit messy musically, but I personally feel it's got some good parts. Stay awesome, Tank!
"Invincible" would be my suggestion for the next Amaranthe song, especially if you want it to be stuck in your head. But if you liked the thematic elements of this one, you should check out Orden Ogan's latest single, "In the Dawn of the AI" (and Orden Ogan in general, they're fun).
Discovered Amaranthe about a year ago and love em. Was gonna see them with Battle Beast and Seven Spires this year, a couple of other bands you should check out, but Covid happened. And no fears about not liking something, if the everybody liked the same music the world would be boring.
I tend to go back to Amaranthe's stuff similar to this one from time to time when I want something fast and kinda up-beat with great vocals and chuggy guitars in general. They have really great energy for that. I don't really listen to a lot of power metal nowadays (I pretty much spent my teens listening to early Yngwie, Stratovarius, Sonata Arctica, Helloween etc.), apart from just discovering Sabaton in a big way earlier this year. I'd suggest checking out Do or Die, Hunger, The Nexus, Drop Dead Cynical, 1.000.000 Lightyears, GG6... I think most of their videos since 2011's "Hunger" has been directed and shot by the same dude :D (I could be wrong though).
Great reaction!🤘I haven't heard this song before, but I love it!🤘😊 (Up on my playlist, for sure!) I know what you mean with "Eurovision-sound". When I heard Amaranthe for the first time, I've got that feeling too. (And I'm NOT a fan of Eurovision! Even though I'm European). But when I heard more Amaranthe songs, I began to love this music. Henrik's (GG6) growling makes the difference. Check out "GG6" and "Boom!" if you want some heavier stuff from them. Also check out "Nexus" and "Viral".
You made some good points on the intro there, an example of that would be me and my fiancé (that how you spell it?). I'm a metalhead with few exceptions, she's more of a pop girl as in Lady Gaga etc. I'm not really into it that much but I don't mind it either if she blasts Martin Garrix or something else while cooking, I see it as us having a wide variety of music in our lives. Much love from Finland, once again!
Amaranthe is fine, just not my bag. Their cover of Sabaton's "82nd All the Way" or "Amaranthine" are probably my favorite tracks of theirs. I like Elize Ryd as she's done a lot of good stuff with Kamelot over the years, and she had that night with Alissa White-Gluz as the lead singers for Nightwish, and in the interviews I've seen of her seems like a really nice person. Their music is just... kind of... poppy samey mixed with some of my least favorite bits of metal vocals. I do adore "Amaranthine," which still has stuff I kind of don't like, yet does it so well I can't argue with how enjoyable the song is to listen to.
In addittion to this being an awesome track, the lyrics are pretty deep and meaningful too. Whilst superficially promoting the benefits of a 'Digital World' it is really subverting that with the risks and dangers of it, placing value into things which have no substance, 'freedom is a sin if you give them control, blind adherance to conformity with the deletion of individuality.
Not one of my favourite bands, BUT... when I saw them live at the festival, it was awesome. Their show makes u dance and dance and dance (just for a record... I hate dancing, but I couldn't help it :D ). It is dfinitely full of great energy :) I'm glad u gave them second chance :)
Since you mentioned the Eurovision song contest in this video I came to think of something, there is actually ONE metal band that won the entire Eurovision in 2006, giving Finland their one and so far only win in that contest, (ofcourse the one metalband that wins it had to be from Finland) The band is called Lordi and they are still active to this day, they have some pretty extreme costumes and stuff during their live shows, kinda like Gwar but much less cartoony and more "realistic" if I can use that word xD I think you should check them out, their music is actually pretty good IMO Here is the video from their winning performance in 2006 ruclips.net/video/gAh9NRGNhUU/видео.html
Now that you've mentioned Eurovision, there needs to be an appearance by Lordi. I had thought about suggesting them for Halloween, but for some reason didn't.
This just makes me wanna jump and dance! I only really discovered Amaranthe earlier this year. I have heard some songs, like The Nexus, before, but after listening to Drop Dead Cynical it all somehow clicked and I was hooked. I’ve had their entire discography on shuffle repeatedly, until Nightwish released Human Nature and I put that on repeat. But with every band there are always some songs, at least one or two on every album, you like more, or less, than some other songs. I’m glad you didn’t write Amaranthe off immediately after Fearless! Also, amazing you managed to reference the Eurovision Song Contest in your metal reaction videos! 😂 ESC is one of my guilty pleasures. Here it’s truly a hate-it-or-love-it thing, haha. And it’s so very not metal! Although, did you know Lordi, a Finnish hard rock band, won ESC2006? That was kinda hilarious and awesome at the same time.
I knew you'd find something that you loved by them. I do like Fearless still but definitely not as much as some of their other songs. You should check out either Hunger or 1,000,000 Lightyears from I believe their first album to see if you like the kind of music they were putting out then. And I still 100% think you should check out 82nd All the Way. It's a song by Sabaton that Amaranthe covered. So you could do a kind of battle of the bands and see which version you like better. And then if you want to go a step further there is a live version where both bands are performing the Sabaton version on their tour.
Yes! I knew, or at least i hoped you would like this one better and it worked. :-) Maybe "Drop Dead Cynical" or "The Nexus" next or "Amaranthine", which was the song which pulled me in.
I was a lot like you when I first heard this band. Then I listened to more songs and they just got stuck in my head. Then I ended up having to get some albums. They write very catchy songs. There is a lot of diversity with the songs so some will sit well some not so much. But I learned that even the ones that don’t sit well end up sounding better after multiple listens.
You need to see their cover of Sabaton's "82nd All The Way", & check out Sabaton's version of it as well, probably as a double feature
I second this.
would love to see that aswell!
Amaranthe also got up on stage with Sabaton and performed the song together.
this.
I also approve this message.
Glad to see you enjoyed this a lot more! I'll second The Nexus, that was the first Amaranthe song I heard and one of their most well known. Massive Addictive, the title track off this song's album, is another insanely catchy song. Then again, this band has a lot of catchy songs.

You should listen to "Boom" and "Archangel" :)
Archangel is definitely the best off the new album to me
Just saw boom and I have to agree it needs to be checked out
Boooom
@@kebobs3727 Yeah archangel is dope, catchy and great visuals
Dunno if Boom is actually good, hard to take it seriously 😁 maybe for a later reaction jsut for fun.
I thought you'd like the older stuff more, cause the songwriting and general production is 'better' or more fitting together.
You could go all the way back to "Hunger" next! That was I think their first single. That is where their sound started. "the Nexus" is also a very good one and both songs have videos with a really high production level ;)
Keep up the great content man!
Finland has won contest Once and did it by this Song
Lordi - Hard Rock Hallelujah
ruclips.net/video/CPU8xXY3wJo/видео.html
Video is winners home coming gig at Helsinki. And as Song title tells It's little different than usually winners. And band is also different than most rock bands...
Glad you found one you like. Can sometimes be hard with bands that do a lot of different stuff
👍
One does not just make an album that has all around perfect tracks that everyone likes, maybe Hybrid Theory. Glad that you got into this one and a spot on entertaining reaction as always!
I’m with you, I’m not mad at this one at all. And that breakdown? WHEWWW! This song makes me want to be super productive right meow...
I will have to check out more of their work. This was my first time hearing them and I liked this one.
More Amaranthe plz !! I'm complety addicted to this band :)
Here to Save You by Cyhra has a live video with lots of tech stuff. Jake E. vocals are amazing and Jesper is a legend. Give them a shot. 💪LET’S GO!!!
Pop-ish fresh vibe with the synth and all.. on top of an industrial riff... and a sick breakdown.. well.. it works! \m/
React to Amaranthe - Boom!1 🤣 you will LIKE IT! TRY! Archangel also. It got more of the rammstein feel
Tyckte jag kände igen användarnamnet🤘 BOOM!1🔥
Thanks!
iam glad you gave it another shot, hunger was the first song i heard from them and i loved it. the strange metal/edm/pop combo blew my mind :)
So fun that you mentioned the Eurovision since Elize contended in the Swedish tryouts for that ;)
As you brought up the Eurovision Song Contest here, maybe check out the previous winner Lordi from Finland. Let's say they won with an "unusual" song 😉
This is their best song by far. Haven’t seen them live yet.
Noticing the Eurovision soundvibes as well. That doesn't need to be bad. Sweden has a strong Eurovison tradition!
Nexus and Burn With Me are really good too for original clean male vocals. I also really like Dream and Archangel for the newer clean male vocals.
This song is on my workout playlist. Definitely gets me through my cardio workouts.
Really cool of you to pick up another Amaranthe song - and I personally agree with you! (Not just on the individual tastes thing, that is kinda obvious.)
There are Amaranthe songs I personally skip, but then there are some that I really dig.
Bit messy musically, but I personally feel it's got some good parts.
Yes! Digital World! This will be stuck in my head for a while.
My favorite Amaranthe songs: 365, Amaranthine, and Dream. It took me a while to get into them.
Wooo! Glad you liked this one. My favorite track off the new album is Archangel. I think you'd dig it as well 🤘
One of the BEST Reaction channels and also talking about gear sweeeeeet!
🤘🤘🤘
Dang missed live premier... glad you digging it more.
4 mins to go... can`t wait ;) I like Amaranthe and especially this song so I`m curious to see what you think about it.
Also on that note, she does like Amaranthe :D
I am glad you liked this :), as a biiig Amaranthe fan, The Nexus and Massive Addictive are my two faves as they are the heaviest in my opinion.
Can't wait❤️! Is it possible that you have missed "Song of myself", Nightwish🤔????
I haven’t “missed it”, I just haven’t it yet.
Since you mentioned the Eurovision song contest in this video I came to think of something, there is actually ONE metal band that won the entire Eurovision in 2006, giving Finland their one and so far only win in that contest, (ofcourse the one metalband that wins it had to be from Finland)
The band is called Lordi and they are still active to this day, they have some pretty extreme costumes and stuff during their live shows, kinda like Gwar but much less cartoony and more "realistic" if I can use that word xD
I think you should check them out, their music is actually pretty good IMO
Here is the video from their winning performance in 2006 ruclips.net/video/gAh9NRGNhUU/видео.html
Now that you've mentioned Eurovision, there needs to be an appearance by Lordi. I had thought about suggesting them for Halloween, but for some reason didn't.
A bunch of Headbangers in Stockholm sends a big “thank you” for you humble and entertaining videos 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Fun fact the female singer in this band sent in a song / demo and applied to be the new Nightwish singer. She did a cover of Nemo.
Their first and second album are by far their best material, you should check the nexus, hunger, afterlife or 1.000.000 lightyears, insane songs
