Great stag and great accomplishment mate, like you I'm the wrong side of 65 and I fully understand what you are saying. It took me and my wife three days to recover the last stag I shot in pretty gnarly country but the feeling of accoplishment as we got to the truck with the last load was off the dial. Then seeing my grandsons and their parents feasting on the beautiful meals the stag provided us with so much satisfaction
Wayne we are still vertical and still doing it. That puts us on the right side of the grass, still hunting and over 65. You nailed it with one word. Satisfaction. My congratulations to you and your wife. Mine was an easy carry-out in comparison.
You said some beautiful words there my friend. We all have to do our best, it’s the least we can do to honour the life of such majestic animals 🦌🏆 Beautiful stag! Congratulations, well deserved
Congratulations Anthony. Your sambar made more than an incredible floor rug, it made an incredible memory and experience. You have had the total package.
Well done Peter great hunt, and impressive carry out mate. Much Respect for what you’re doing there, have done the hard yards enough times to know how hard it is and I’m only 38 Bet you’re already thinking about the next one.. Cheers!
I know people who only take trophies and backstaps and it hurts. Gota make the most of a animal you take. Great stuff mate. Got a sub just for that. Looking forward to watching more. Cheers
Pete, You talked about this at an ADA hunter ed course 25 years ago and it has stuck with me. No matter how hard the carry-out is, honour the deer and get out everything that can be used. Then there is always the price of meat at the butcher shop to consider too.
just found your channel , i love your work , i'm now subscribed and will like and share , really enjoyed your intro to sambar presentation ,your microphone is something else ,well done
Thanks Bill, as for the microphone I've subsequently upgraded it. (Though there will be little improvement.) My productions skills are as basic as they come. I am glad you enjoyed it and thank you for the shares.
Hi peter awsome deer is it worth im 50 bloody oath its worth it keeps u away from doctor!! Wont to congratulate u on the introduction to deer very positive formative. No good to me cause ive learnt country dont need to look at signe much very true and possitive stuff well done. Subscribed to ya channel rosco.
Appreciate your video and message, mate. While there may be some cases where deer can't be recovered, and some people may choose to not eat rutty bucks in the rut, if we ever want to stop the helicopters from culling the deer, we need to advocate for the venison. It's harder to defend the idea of hunters wanting big trophies and we don't like choppers leaving them in the bush, but much easier for us to say that hundreds of deer getting left to rot in the bush from chopper culls is a tremendous waste of free range protein, that grew in the bush, by itself, for free.
For hunters, sambar deer are the most respected, sought after and valued game animal in Australia. Unfortunately, current trends labelling and treating all deer as pests takes away any respect for the animal.
Awesome mate, well done .That is a true hunter .Not only for the head and the many good meals you will share with friends and family.Keep it up young man 👍👍🍻🍻
At 65 I'm feeling the pressure of the retreive. Your an inspiration. 👍
I'm lucky, I've been at this for over 53 years and there's a lot of hunters out there that are my inspiration.
Great stag. You're spot on about what you said. You are an inspiration! I hope to be able to do that when I'm your age. Keep the vids coming.
Thank you. Some more vids in the pipeline.

Great work, I shot my first Sambar last year. Took the lot, including the hide and tanned it.. MADE an incredible floor rug.
Congratulations Anthony. Your sambar made more than an incredible floor rug, it made an incredible memory and experience. You have had the total package.
Well done mate. I fully agree with you
The best thing is: there's a lot of hunters out there who go the full yard and beyond.
100% agree mate, the real prize is the experience. Keep the videos coming, love em mate!
will try, a couple in the pipeline.

David, as you know, deer hunting is not about killing.

What a great inspiration Sir. I am a lot younger, couldn't do what you achieved... I need to start toughening up. New subscriber. Ben
Thanks Ben. We are all capable of more than we think. Give it a go, you will surprise yourself. Good hunting.
Well done Peter
When u accomplish the whole package it what it all about and shows full respect to the animal.
All game animals deserve respect from the hunter. Without respect for the animal we are not hunters, just killers.
All game deserves respect. Without respect we are not hunters just killers.

Thank you, hopefully I can keep at it.
Good on you mate, awesome effort.
Thank you.
Well done mate I agree with you totally - just wasting a valuable resource unless you pack it all out
It is relative to how much we value the animal.
Thanks a heap for this video mate. You're a bloody legend!
I hope i'm still out there doing it at 69 too. Thats so awesome
I hope you get to do it!
Well done old mate...great effort
Thank you.
You need to get yourself a young fella or two for the carry mate!!! Nice work. Cheers for the vid. 🍻😎
Got a young fella who hunts with us, he's 66. He gets the big carry outs!
Absolutely well done, I commend you sir.!!! I don't leave anything behind.!

Awesome, beast 👍
Thank you.
You can't eat the antlers! 😂
Unless of course they're velvet and you are into Chinese medicine.
Good on ya
Thanks 👍
That was a crackin video mate! Bloody good going for 69 hope I’m still doing then. I would have opened the gate for ya digger 😂👍🏻
I'm almost 73, the gate's the least of my problems.
The price of meat in 2024… how can you not take every bit you can carry
Michael, thank you for your comment. I would hate to calculate the full expenditure over my 54 years of hunting sambar per Kilo of meat recovered.
I'm 68 and I know your pain.
Pain? we have to be alive to feel it. Make the most of it while we can.
It really angers me how people just take the heads and leave the rest
Jack, having respect for what we hunt is the true key to success. Good hunting.
