- Metallica perform "Jump in the Fire" off of their 1983 debut album "Kill 'em All" with former guitarist Dave Mustaine who is now playing with Megadeth. Recorded live @ The Fillmore in San Francisco, California on December 10th, 2011 (the last of four Metallica 30th birthday concerts).
Mustaine is an extremely talented guy and songwriter. I really admire him for the fact that after he was fired from Metallica, he picked himself up, dusted himself off and came back with a very powerful answer in the form of Megadeth.
John Smith agreed this guy is my inspiration o play guitar and for music in general
MEGADETH Destroys This Plastic Band ... Metallica is more POPular , as most POP acts are , ya know ? Like Lady Gaga for instance
Frank Peltier What?
@@frankpeltier1748 ok boomer
Agree megadeth is much more kickass of a band now because of metallica's change in music style which totally suck to us old school fans still can't get it why they'd combine symphony and thrash metal
No matter how welcoming the band are towards Dave, there's probably a tiny part of him that will never get over being fired and that's human nature. Still and all he's doing very well for himself
True, but healso fired so many Megadeth members aswell.
I for one I'm glad he left Metallica, otherwise we wouldn't have MEGADETH!
@@vicrattlehead6386The circumstances are different. I love Metallica (obviously) but the way they kicked Dave and in the context, was a major dick move.
His band is way better so he shouldn't care anymore.
Kirks smiling at Dave like "Hey we're cool now right?" and Dave's just like "THIS CHANGES NOTHING!" Lol just playin' around
I think some wounds healed though
...And "V" for all
ahhaha indeed :P
Good name for a Metallica-themed brothel! 👌
love fucking jump in the fire.............Good to see Mustaine up on stage with Hetfield and Ulrich............
SNAKE PLISSKEN appreciate your surity man !!
SNAKE PLISSKEN They're playing it wrong. 3-6-3-4-3-5-4-3...The entire song had to be rewritten for them to play it this way. They're playing it a one fret down, a half-step down from standard.
Rob, on the other hand, is playing it with the correct fingerings, but tuned to standard D.
Snake Plissken dave wrote the song at 15 years old
Pretty impossibly epic... never thought id see this happen in a million years... this is history.
The sound quality on this video is awesome.
I like how lars mentioned Dave's audition song for Metallica.
This was the first song I had ever heard from Metallica in 83 or 82. This song changed my life.
a trip down memory lane for Dave
its amazing how they can dig up an old song and become "epic" all over again... yet you can't find a song like this in their new albums.
Hell froze over when I saw this video. All Megadeth vs Metallica arguments are now invalid.
None of those arguments were ever valid in the first place - regardless of which side was being supported.
METALLICADETH!!!!!!
I waited a long time for this stuff...awesome
i believe they actually called it megatallica
Great to see Metallica and Dave together. The combination of Hetfield, Mustaine and Hammett is unbelievably good.
Pienso que Dave troleó los solos de Metallica 🤣🤣🤣
This makes me very happy to see them working together like this. Megadeth and Metallica are my two favorite bands, and to see them getting along totally made my day. I was playing other videos, and as RUclips will do, I got led to this, and I feel great seeing them play together and getting along. So cool!
This is an interesting look at what might have been had Dave stayed with Metallica...
However I'm kinda glad things worked out the way they did because now I have two amazing thrash bands to listen to. LONG LIVE METALLICA AND MEGADETH
very flying v. much metal. wow
Doge. Much Awesome. Very Reunion. So kewl
+Henry HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH
2:48 Kirk:"nice playing!"
2:51 Dave:"i'll send you the tab."
seeing all of them having a great time together \m/
Reunited in peace, all credit where it belongs, and a triple threat of flying V's.
Thanks for existing, Michael Schenker. Just look at what you've inspired! \m/
You're absolutely right!!! Marty is one of the best metal guitarist ever!!! The Friedman/Mustaine duo was superb and, since Marty left Megadeth, the band have lost the "buzz" that you said. I also agree that the addition of Marty made of Megadeth something bigger and much more better and he was the perfect musical partner for Mustaine as well. Needless to say, the Mustaine/Friedman/Ellefson/Menza line-up was iconic in the metal history. Cheers!
It's so beautiful!
Kirk is like teach me master
hahahhah totally XD
Kirk is the 50 million dollar puppet!
Korey J but Kirk wrote master solos
i cant stop coming back it just baffles me how they deliver this one
Dave: It is a lot easier than my songs.
It's one of his though...
@@localmusiclover605 he wrote this song while phantom lord he did the guitar part while james did the lyrics and he didn't get credited for it they even change the lyrics of JITF
@@richievitanaquino737 honestly use your brain. If he wasn't credited on this, what on earth was he doing here??? Can't some of you people stop bullshitting??? Go and check Metallica website.
In what way exactly?
@@localmusiclover605 Yeah that he wrote when he was like 16 lmao
Beautiful thing to see Dave jamming with Metallica...
mustaine's kick ass solo at 03:45
you're welcome :)
solo on the album is much better though lmao
There would be no Metallica without Dave
its great to see those guys on stage together, but James sound like a damn lounge singer.
Its bad when Dave sounds better than James now.
yeah, but i can't really fault him for it. he literally destroyed his voice and had to re-do his entire approach to vocals.
you ever seen that metallikats photo?
Literally the coolest concert ever.
this is the most heavy metal thing ive ever seen. \m/
Great to see these guys playing together after all this time.
"This is the First (OF Many) Song that uhh, Dave Showed to Us, Check it out " Lars Ulrich.
Very good video,
Super high quality.
dave is like , : thats nice playing there kirk but i'll take the solo from here :D
Results of watching this: new aim of life to see a Metallica concert with Dave on a third guitar...
Did anyone else just wish James would stop singing towards the end of the second solo so we could hear Dave's solo lol. I thought he was gonna turn up the volume on his head when he turned around lol.
This song is really fun to play, the early riffs are awesome :)
they muted daves guitar out more than jasons base on ajfa
TheAmazingPenetrator dave wasn't in ajfa
+David 55509 It was a comparison
+David 55509 Now read his comment again, then think and try to reply again.
elguitarTom I did that's why I didn't reply
Hahaha
very awesome quality! great video, song, band, gah... everything!
el creador del sonido de metallica vuelve a tocar en su banda ya que Mustaine lo hizo conocido a metallica por sus solos y riffs grande Dave
Jump in the fire is so ahead of its time, when they made it in the 80's, awesome song.
awesome
awesome, Dave. you handled it well. didnt go in there and rant bout things. you held your honor and showed you are a true class act.
if that was the 1980 dave he'd probably throw kirk and james offstage XD lol
+Tyrese Loveday not James
@@greatriffishere Yes he punched the shit out of James back in 83' and he knows karate why wouldn't he be able to also has been sober since Countdown to Extinction while James is on and off again alcoholic I'm pretty sure we all know who is fit to win in solos and a fist fight
@@MsCristyful Who cares lol. That comment is 5 years old !!
im glad to see all of them playing together after 30 years
I love how James never looks over at Dave...
"QUICK...hide Kirks 'wah' ...fuckin DAVES onstage..."
Jump in the fire solo played live correctly for the first time in the last 30 years.
I just think its cool to see Dave up there rawkin out with Metallica.
"Here's one of the First songs we stole from Dave ... Because ,obviously , we can't write for Shit."... Daves The King ...
Frank Peltier Dude I love Dave, he's a bad ass. But Metallica still did pretty damn good thru the years at writing songs without Dave. They only sold like a gazillion records. Master, Justice, Black Album.....come on
I think that Dave wrote songs for those albums too...:)
Well he wrote for Ride the Lightning as well
Michael Wolbert the black Album ? Ohhh you mean that pop Metal Album ? Yes yes .... tallica rulzzzzzzz.
Steven Baksh is that the One Album I mentioned, that got to you , piss pot ? ....the fact that it's Mainstream POPular , makes it pop Pee pants .... why ? Is it "Thrash" to you ...??
Dave Mustaine kicks ass that's one of my favorite Metallica solo's along with ride the lightning title track.
i feel bad for dave kinda, you can tell from all his fame he never really had any real friends after metallica. those were the guys he thought were his best buds and after he left he just became a lonely leader. mega is awesome, but as a band dave is usually the only one that stands out. in metallica everyone is famous and known. you can tell by daves body language on stage and his distance that hes just a little further way then he should be. thats anxiety seperation and coping with being on your own yourself for a number of years. as happy as this show made him it prob also destroyed him inside afterwards also. its like a kid coming home from school trying to show his drunk parents he got a A+ and how smart he is and what hes accomplished and the drunk parent patting him on the head and the next day the kid finding his paper in the trash instead of on the fridge.
Dude.
+MelodicMizeryRecords While I do sympathize with the guy (because let's be honest, that many plays a fucking mean guitar) there's the whole issue where he's been a whiny douche about it for the last, oh, 33 years or so? Dude. Get over it. You moved on. And not only that, you're a part of the 'Big Four' in thrash, #2 no less. Yeah, Metallica dwarfs the other three handily but that doesn't mean you suck. For the record I thoroughly enjoy both bands. (though if Dave could have found a proper vocalist that would be have been to his benefit, that man simply cannot sing)
edit - seeing him on stage playing together with his old friends is kind of heartwarming, I have to admit.
Just to play devil's advocate...
imagine you were in Dave's shoes and it happened to you. You join the band and you dedicate everything you have in your life to join that band. You also write a lot of the band's early work as can be seen on "No Life Til Leather". And not only did you write a lot of the material but you were one of the reasons the band was getting some cred. Back in those days when the band was getting going, a lot of reviews from live performances were mostly bad and Dave was the guy that was noted as the standout. The persona, the loud mouth bad ass guitarist. So, imagine that's you. You write a lot of shit, reviews are saying you are the brightest spot in the band, and all you have in life is the band.
Then one day you get kicked out of the band (deserving or not, not the issue). Then your ass is sent packing on a greyhound bus cross country with no money, no food, no water. You also tell the band not to use your music. Then that band uses your music. And then that band becomes the biggest band on the fuckin planet. And along the way, they try to discredit you and minimize your contributions to what you brought to the band. And having to be reminded of it every fuckin day.
People can say Mustaine should just be happy. Megadeth is successful. Stop whining. But, if im in his shoes I would have been equally if not more pissed off.
But fortunately, events like the Big Four shows and this has allowed for some closure which is nice.
And remember Jump in the fire was the first song Dave wrote at 14, that song had to have had meaning to him and he couldn't use it cause Metallica owned the writes
MelodicMizeryRecords Dave was fired from Metallica was the best desition in metal beacuse we got 2 kick ass bands
I dont know about anyone else but i get tingles listening to this wicked shit. 'Beauty in the strings of a mad man'
I think Metallica should record a live lp w Dave mustaine like in the old days, w a good analog tape machine , no mixing, just a raw record. That would be awesome, a lot of fans would buy the record.
it was one of his biggest wishes to play with his old band
he brought out his finest guitar
and JitF is one of the first songs he wrote
i think you can wake him up at 3 am and he would play it flawless
feuds are over (for some years now)
we have to expect great stuff in the future
if they would have kept Dave, Metallica would have sold more albums than the Beatles
Nope. They'd never reach that wide audience.
I totally agree man. Dave in Metallica was the genius ! Dave Dave Dave!
Jay Ciroc No chance. The black album would have never happened
Jarrod Schroeder I prefer Dave in megadeth tbh
They wouldn't... because they would be BETTER! and better usualy = less commercialy successful.
Such an Amazing song
R.I.P cliff burton.
flashback coming in my head as i see this live concert still haven't forgotten what i remembered in the flesh face to face seeing firsthand majority of fans were too busy headbanging sure worked out their necks'
"with former guitarist Dave Mustaine who is now playing with Megadeth. " lol...your funny
Metallica and Dave got back together for this jam . . . And a great wormhole of awesomeness formed due to the sheer metal power displayed on stage. Without Chuck Norris to close it back with a roundhouse kick we would all be dead !
They should have played the mechanix slow like they did on theyre demo and dave could have said, "There are 3 ways, you can hear this next song...... ". That would rule.
what's the third one? (i know horsemen and mechanix)
Henry There's Metallica's The Mechanix, Megadeth's The Mechanix and The Four Horsemen.
Metallica's Mechanix has the same lyrics as Megadeth's one, but the speed is more similar to The Four Horsemen.
^ oh ok, thanks
No problem.
Jump In The Fire first showed on a demo called No Life Till Leather featuring Mustaine on guitar. You forget there many demo's and Bootlegs before 1983 that true fans got their hands on, for example Breadfan and Phantom Lord. Many great EP's listening to Metallica before they got famous, hanging with them when they toured with Ozzy being at the soundchecks and running around with them in the mall. Playing video games at the hotel, Ninja catch the damn' Rabbit.....good times..chairs in the pool.
@ Mathias Neilsen you should make a playlist for these videos!
Dave looks like that weird ginger people are forced to hang out with lol
And sounds like a real musician.... Unlike the thieving hacks, he's jamming with .
Frank Peltier very true
+DonJZA Only far more talented, successful, and rich than all 3 of us combined. IJS.
@@frankpeltier1748 "thieving hacks" lol
Did you get any less stupid in the last eight years?
Dave Mustaine is a fucking Genious !!! , he wrote one of my favourite Metallica songs , the solo is the best thing i have ever heard in my life , keep rocking Metallica and Megadeth \mmmmm/
i LOVE TO SEE DAVE WITH HIS FRIENDS
Dave is the only guy in thrash that is a BEAST at BOTH lead AND rhythm.... and usually BOTH on the same song!!! ...
The guitars are downtuned, but they are also playing the song down a half-step position on the guitar. If you know the studio version, and watch 1983 videos with Mustaine, the first two sustained chords in the first riff are the C and A#, played in standard at the 355 and 133 positions on the ADG strings. Here, looking at their hands, they are playing at 022 and 244. Everything played on the guitar necks in this video is shifted down half a position from the studio version.
My favorite song off of Kill 'Em All and possibly my favorite Metallica song.
love how dave looks the youngest ..yet done the most :) go MeGADAVE
There's Dave soloing Jump In The Fire like god intended.
OLD LARS COME BACK TO US
this is what a metal music video should be!
How am I just seeing this now!!! Fucking awesome!!!
Dave Mustaine ROCKS
MY BIRTHDAY IS THE 10TH! YES LADS!
A personal favorite of mine from Kill "em All . . . when I found out that Mustaine wrote it, I thought, "Of COURSE he did."
I noticed too and I tried it. It is a lot easier to play and I like it. Now I can play some G'n'R songs and metallica songs without having to detune or swap my guitar. Don't know why I dind't think of it before.
I don't understand why your comment got so many negative votes.
The famous Mustaine snarl is back! Happy to see it. James and Dave together on the same stage playing old killem' all songs.... that's something i thought i wouldn't see in my lifetime. They all look so happy. 'cept for kirk lol. He looks like the only thing he's thinking about is Mustaine "stealing his job" haha. in all seriousness though, i would have loved to see cliff onstage with these guys. Then METALLICA would have been completed once more.
This was fucking awesome. Thanks for sharing!!!!
Dave Mustane..ever metallica!!!
kirk must be reliving the st. anger tour days, no guitar solos lol. but this is just amazing, ive been dreaming of dave playing with them for years. they shouldve played the 4 horseman, but with the speed of mechanix, let dave play the fast solo at the end, and let kirk play the melodic one at the speed of the studio version.
Anyone notice that all these people are very likely Metallica fans...but the applause for dave was soo much louder!!!!!!!! \m/
Mustaine hit that solo real nice for never playing the song in 20 years since he wrote it.
It's strange to feel a real tension between those guys when they meet.
Each time Mustaine meets Metallica, it's the same : we can't really talk of good friendship between them, whatever they can say about it in TV interviews !
I think that the best thing that could happen to Metallica and Megadeth was the departure of Dave Mustaine in the early 80'...
why argue who is better , without Dave leaving Metallica , we would have missed out on the great music of Megadeth , Megadeth keeps the torch lit , it seems a lot of bands are selling out , Dave is a blessing to all us Metal fans . \m/ \m/
I just love this song.. maybe's my favourite.. Easy and Metaled
awesome! of course james voice sounds totally now, lol, but this is cool watching them play a classic bad ass metallica song. my buddy has this cassette single when we were in the 5th grade back in 1988.
thumbs up from Croatia !!! \m/
Youre great dudes :D
I think the most underrated song on Kill Em all :( I think it's one of the best. Shame that they don't play it so often :(
I'm glad these guys put that old shit behind them and got back to kicking ass, good job! 'Bout fuckin time too...
Honestly when guys that heavy are together just enjoy there all amazing and metal would be weak without them...hail Lord Kirk.
Dave was once such a showman.. now he just plays heavy metal really fast
@Magiffin Thank You!
I don't know about anyone else, I'm just happy to see Dave up there, playing his tunes he wrote when he was in Metallica, with Metallica. I'm happy to see Kirk let Dave do the solos, Kirk was the first guy to go over and show he was having fun rocking out with Dave, and that the guys gathered around him during one of his solos. Dave deserved to be up there with them, and he isn't better or worse than Kirk, just different.
No he's definitely better than Kirk at least nowadays. Kirk really lost it over the years.
Mustaine Owned his 15.sec of fame!!! 1st Song MUSTAINE the Legend'
I love both bands metallica and megadeth!
