- WWII SHORT FILM 'THE HILL.' MADE IN 2009 AS A COLLEGE TEST PROJECT. THE HILL FOLLOWS A SQUAD OF 2ND INFANTRY SOLDIERS AND THEY BATTLE THEIR WAY THROUGH THE FIELDS OF NORMANDY FRANCE.
Actually there was was but only briefly. US Army infantrymen were issued camouflage uniforms during the Normandy campaign but the Army discontinued it because the solders were being picked off by their own men mistaking them for Waffen SS. The US did wisely issue them in the Pacific.
The worst acting I've ever seen 'Like Band of Brothers and The Pacific' my backside!!
Kind of a bummer why nobody watch this that much.
I was in Camp Pendleton during Marine Corps Recruit training when a staff sergeant announced that Vic Morrow had been killed filming a movie which we found later to be The Twilight Zone. Hurt me to my heart. We loved watching Combat as boys. I never forgave John Landis for being wreckless with his life and those poor little girls that died with him.
The 92nd Infantry served in Italy but did not serve in Northwest Europe, both theaters are considered separate despite their closeness geographically.
Not like Band of Brothers or Pacific -- Id say its more like Benny Hill or Gilligans Island ~
COMBAT. That was the one. thanks. you know he was killed when a helicopter fell on him while filming the twilight zone?
Smoking a cigaretter while an enemy patrol is approaching? Nope - I'm out.
I suppose considering that the budget for this must have been very low, that this film isn't that bad, and it is a lot better than anyone commenting on here could ever do. However I have just finished watching Saving Private Ryan which makes this look really bad. Had to turn it off after the first 'battle'. Sorry I tried really hard not to be a troll but I just couldn't help it :) Hey at least you got another viewer.
Guess the major didn't want to cut his sideburns prior to shooting the movie.
The "Major" and his lambchop sideburns was the deal breaker for me.
Those are the cleanest GIs I've ever seen.
considering that this was a bunch of college kid's project, with a small budget and lack of resources, it is a very good film. True, there are some inconsistancies, such as exactly what size unit is involved(from what I saw, should have been a platoon), it does catch the feel and essence of battle. An overall pretty good effort.
I believe that the technical advisor got caught selling cookies out of season.
Absolutely nothing like a Band of Brothers.
Good job no matter how they did it.....it tells a story that many men lived...and died for...
Holy Mismatched uniforms batman!
A plastic shiny Thompson air soft machine gun replica from eBay. that shoots yellow bb's . really powerful .LOL, but is a really good short film i like it.
Awesome classic war movie..excellent job..I love💘💘💘💘💘💘💘this..thank you so much..
As a connoisseur of obscure craptastic war movies, I can say this is a 9.9/10. It is right up there with Eastern European direct to VHS low budget makework projects, like Hail the Battle of the Glorious Hero's Liberation of People's Republic of Turdistan from Nazi Devildog Invaders (director's cut). Good luck to the production crew of The Hill in your new career in the fast-food industry.
