I believe “Talk Show” was the best Go Go’s album! Especially “Head over Heels ”, one of the greatest pop songs ever written!!
I don't think it was their best album, but all three of the early 80s albums are must own. Mercenary and I'm the Only One both sound like filler junk to me. Half of "Forget That Day" sounds amazing, but the main parts sound like old filler from the 60s, so that song could have turned out a lot better had they kept the amazing sounding bits, and replaced the bland, generic old timey sounding main: "That day, that day This day, this day" parts of the song. Del Shannon could have done a better version of that song. Besides me issues with those three songs, the rest of the album is solid and as good as anything else they did. The first two albums didn't really have any filler at all though.
I like the first one the best, it's my go-to for exercise. But "Talk Show" is great too.
I'd have to agree on it being their best classic LP; B+tB wasn't all that ! Vacation was brilliant and all, and I also like that more recent 'God Bless...'. An influnence on late-80's B-52's ??? (another absolute favourite of mine)
I think their first album "Beauty and the Beat" is their best. But "Head over Heels" is definitely one of their best songs and a personal favorite of mine. It may also be their most popular song.
I forgot how much I loved the Go Gos sound. A great group. The first truly successful and greatest all girl rock group.
This was the last I remember from them before Belinda Carlisle went solo yrs later. I didn't even know of this video until Mon 10-4-21.

And then her smile as she hits the cymbal at the end 😁 All of them are so gorgeous, funny and talented. You'd think they'd been put together, but it was all them and meant to be. A magical rarity as we've hardly seen an all female group match them since. Especially recently.

So many of their songs resonate with happiness and love...others with misery and heartbreak. These gals gave me a place where i could go to if i wanted to be happy or sad. Being older now im certainly not ashamed for liking them now as i was then.

This music video is directed by Mary Lambert who directed "Like a Virgin" right after completing this shoot. She also directed "Material Girl" and the horror film "Pet Sematary".
Cheers for the info:) Madonna never seems to admit it, but you can tell she was inspired by The Go-Go's. Maybe it's just coincidence with the videos, but I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't.

Album was great the experoence i think is what was bad for the band but even Belinda said it was probably their best album
Belinda says in the book, "Lips Unsealed" that this was their best album. But, fighting and jealousies prevented the album from being a bigger commercial success. Belinda says they clicked in the studio for this album despite the problems. Imo, Beauty and the Beat is The Go-Go's greatest album. Talk Show and God Bless The Go-Go's are neck-and-neck. Vacation is their weakest album.

Great song. Whomever produced this video didn't read the lyrics. It is about going up to someone the singer isnt sure wants to dance, is hooked up with someone else, or whatever. The lyrics are cinematic enough that the video could make itself.
This was one of their last videos before their split, the following year.

That's a SANKYO sound super 8 photochemical movie camera at the beginning of the video, like the one Stewart Copeland used at the US FESTIVAL when The Police played there. A good camera, until out breaks and then it is too expensive to fix, if it can be fixed at all. Hope the video gets an HD scans and upgrade!

The actual vinyl sounds so much richer, even the digital rip of the vinyl sounds worlds better. They really need to up their game when it comes to audio quality on youtube, because they butcherd it. I sync up the video with the vinyl rip lol.
If only they could have taken a much needed break to get healthy and in their right minds before this album... we might have had two more GoGo albums featuring Rush Hour and Mad About You...and later all the Belinda solo hits as the GoGo's.. how cool would that have been ?

I heard the WILD at the Greek show/DVD/VHS was performed/filmed over 3 nights so they had to wear the same clothes. Too bad it’s less than an hour. A friend of mine was there and set they knocked it outta the park...
@@jeffharder8706 Facts. I posted the entire setlist on the full concert Greek video. They left out 5 or so songs from the film and changed the order and even the opening song. Also the editor wasn't exactly top notch. Belinda takes off her pink heels after like the 2nd song and then we see her wearing them again at random moments throughout so she clearly kept them on the whole time for at least one of the 3 shows. So yea, 3 days. Same outfits. Missing songs. Wrong order. But hey, great sound and camera work so whatever 🤙

However, the reason _why_ I didn't remember it, is suggested by another "Chart number": It debuted at the _#86_ position - , which means that its ranking barely moved before the song disappeared from the Charts. None-the-less, it is interesting for me to hear and see this hitherto-unknown-to-me music-video.
