The sad part is that most of them do not realize what it’s like when you get older and have no children. I volunteered for many years at a few elderly care facilities and you would be surprised at the amount of people who lived there, men and women who didn’t have children and we’re sitting there alone the nurses didn’t want to deal with them either. Most were very bitter, angry, and just hated being alive.
What's WORSE is the amount of elderly trapped in those facilities who actually have children and grandchildren who RARELY if ever even visit them! Many of those places are understaffed, food is yuk, and the elderly often do not get the basic attention they deserve, like timely assistance with hygiene 🪥 🚿🚽not to mention mental/social engagement. Having, raising, investing in offspring DOES NOT guarantee the ROI showing up as love, attention, and care in one's later years. Good parenting or not.

They had happy, fulfilled lives and lived to a ripe old age-and when they neared the end of their lives, they had their *siblings, nieces, and nephews* to help look after them.
