@thomasdavis5788 Yes, but "The Killers" (majority of incompetent, private car drivers commuting out there) tend to respect the size of Semi's and see them from further off and back off. They also know they will be slower. Doesn't stop them from then cutting the large trucks off, but they have just enough brains to know they won't fare so well if they rear-end a fuel truck.
But they don't seem capable of understanding that a pickup pulling a travel trailer with family is heavier and and takes longer to get up to hwy speed.
Having the ability to get that family rig up to hwy speed quicker is a welcome ability.
For all the killers out there, if a vehicle has to brake to avoid hitting you after you pull in front of them, then you HAVE cut them off. No matter how soft of a brake application they need to make.
Do better. Stop driving like unaware morons on the same public roads my loved ones drive on.

The biggest sell point for Ram is that you can work on it in youre driveway. You can change a starter or alternator quickly. You can even reseal the ram oil pan without having to remove the engine, like the 20-up powerstrokes. I do diesel repair, and went with the 23 ram

Just wanted to say i love the videos and have watched steve since TFL and followed over when truck king started. That being said the 1819 lb payload is insanely low for a super duty, my 2023 Chevy 1500 with the refreshed HO 2.7 4 cylinder and 4wd has a 1848 lb payload(and 9200 lb towing). Very luxury truck though! Bet it would get 20 mpg on the highway with those low gears!

2023 f250 specs show a massive trailer tow increase from 15,500 (as you mentioned) to 21,900 lbs. with a 3.55 locking axle and an upgraded capacity axle. A 6400 lbs bump up, a locker and an axle upgrade for only $500 (2024) on a $117K truck? Absolute no brainer in my opinion. Can't believe that truck was even built and spec'd that way. Even more puzzling that Ford made it available for testing knowing all reviewers would negatively critique these towing and payload specs.

Hi there! FINALLY, I found a Canadian truck review channel!
Info wise, ANY North American channel is helpful to me. But I also need info on trucks and truck pricing that are available to me here.
I'm looking at getting a new F350. I currently have an F150 3.5 egoboost that i bought new in 2013. It has been great. But time to trade in and up. It has been perfect for towing our 7800 GVWR travel trailer but I'm going to be adding a Quad that I'd like to bring along in the box when towing our trailer and in 2026 will be getting a larger trailer when we retire.
I'm going to get an F350. I live in B.C. I dont know if its the same in Ontario, but here we have to pay a "luxury tax" if I get a non commercial rated F250. But not if I get a 350.
I am aware 250's ride softer but there are other considerations that put the 350 ahead for me.
I haven't checked with the ICBC monopoly gangsters yet on whether or not there is a difference in insurance rates but I'm sure they havent missed an opportunity to squeeze that much more blood out of us.
I'm also going back and forth between deciding on a 7.3 gasser or 6.7 diesel.
At first, before going to a heavier trailer, the 7.3 will be more than adequate. But looking ahead to when I add a Quad, bigger trailer and our plans for trips from southern B.C. to the Yukon and Alaska and other trips we plan to do West to East and back, a diesel would be better. We will be criss-crossing the Coastal, Cascades and Rocky Mountains many times. Plus, on occasion taking other family members and all their stuff with us.
Diesels add extra cost to buy and maintain. Ive never owned a diesel but have 30 years experience driving various diesels as a commercial driver.
On the other hand, a 7.3 would be cheaper, lighter and less expensive to maintain. Also no DEF to deal with.
A diesel will be more fuel efficient for towing. We will be doing alot of that starting in 2026 but before that, only two or three times a year for hunting, fishing and Vacay trips.
    Alot to consider.
I am going to build an F350 online this weekend.
What do you guys suggest I consider adding/subtracting for the purposes I've outlined above?
Also just had a Sales rep that was recommended by a trusted friend call me to let me know he has a couple of HD King Ranch trucks in stock if I want to come check out. They are new, but 2023. I know there's negligible difference between '23 and '24. But I hesitate to go with a '23 ANYTHING due to possible hangover from the prior couple of years of chip and equipment shortages and the shortcuts all manufacturers were taking during that time and the recent strike. But, no harm in going to look them over and familiarize myself with them. I subscribed and hit notifications now that I found a channel in familiar territory.
Anyway, what do you guys and all of you in this comments section have to suggest i consider when going through a build online?
Starting with, engine type, then 3.73 or 4.30 diff ratio?

Most of these tests are fun but impractical, a couple of seconds, or ability to pull a few hundred more pounds should never be in the equation. Always have more capability than need. What I do enjoy are all of the features, and what I'd really like to see is the reliability. After a year or more, which brand and model had the most down time? I realize most of these videos are new vehicles, but maybe you can go back and do more videos like the review your dad did with his trip and how the ram handled.

I have to agree on the towing and payload specs. I think Ford specs their 250s to stay at the 15k mark and their 350 at the 18-22k mark as a distinction between both models otherwise why would you purchase a 350 when a 250 would do. I learned this the hard way when I bought a 2022 F250 “XLT” to stretch the capacity a bit more and still had to trade it in for a 350. Just can’t get around the leaf springs unless you get the heavy tow package with the 11500 GVWR and upgraded leaf springs. But if you’re already above the 10k GVWR, why not just buy a 350? It’s not really more expensive, odd to say. That’s what I did, problem solved.

That Ford truck can carry a great deal more than it’s been certified to.
We really need to push for changes in the CDL and registration of these trucks. CDL for pickups and a trailer under 30,000 lbs combined should shouldn’t need a CDL. Obviously I’m assuming a 3/4 1-ton pickup appropriate configured for such a load. I haul a dump trailer. It would be nice be able to use a 1-ton pickup and a 16,000 to 18,000 lb trailer rating without a CDL. The reason I say this is the current technology on pickups and trailers makes these vehicle many many times safer to drive today than 20 years ago. Stopping distances are almost 1/2 the distance of the 1980’s trucks that were the foundation for the CDL standards.
It would also help a lot for small businesses that haul smaller loads 15,000 - 20,000 lbs.
