Very nice presentation and for the benefit, convenience and information of you and others who view this and to refresh your memory, the words of our national anthem were written by Francis Scott Key in the aftermath of the British attack on Baltimore's Fort McHenry during the War of 1812 when he saw the American flag still waving over the fort that morning and below are Mr. Key's words if you want to look them over while listening or sing along as you stand with your hand over your heart. The anthem begins at the 2:11 mark. O say, can you see, By the dawn's early light, what so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming, whose broad stripes and bright stars,, through the perilous fight, o'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming? And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air, gave proof through the night that our flag was still there. O say, does that Star-Spangled Banner yet wave o'er the land of the free and the home of the brave? 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Yourself, MYSELF and a whole lot of other people I'm sure! I was 16 back in 1980, but at my age of 49 now, I'll take that year anyday lol Today's times SUCK.
I miss WRIF radio...I remember there werent many cars who didnt have a WRIF bumper sticker on it...and I even had one on my mirror and walls in my bedroom.
To the best of my knowledge, the only stations to use O Canada from Detroit were WKBD channel 50, beginning back in ther days as a Kaiser station, and WTVS channel 56, the public tv station.
well, I really liked the fact that our TV stations in the US would close down for the night & restarted on-air the next day, also I commend them for playing the National Anthem or something patriotically similar to that effect. now all TV stations throughout the US r going 24-hour mode. Well, I have 1 more thing to say: what the heck happened to those times?
Who cares. The government is crooked, cares only about money and sneakily passing questionable laws while they think we're not paying attention. I am happy we have rights, and there's brave veterans that sacrifice a lot, but who wants to support a corrupt government? Besides only boomers, the silent generation and gen Xers regularly sit in front of the TV set. I haven't watched tv in over a decade.
Imagine falling asleep and waking up to this sorta patriotic sorta propaganda ish sign off? I don’t know I think it’s be cool yet freaky at the same time
So true. With so much hate in this world, we need to start treating our brothers and sisters like brothers and sisters, as the PSA said.
I miss the days when stations actually went off the air. Pretty much forced you to go to bed
Only in Detroit would there be a station named WXYZ
Well, maybe PBS also…
And it would be an ABC affiliate to boot. I love my Detroit!
HELLO NEIGHBOUR GOD BLESS THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA FROM UR NEIGHBOUR IN THE NORTH CANADA

Sunday, April 6, 1980. (The movie "Countdown" aired on Channel 7's 4:00 Movie the next day.)
If I had a time machine, I would like to go back to 1980.

James Evenden sleep or go out

And WXYZ-TV also produced "The Hot Fudge Show".
Which used to air in my hometown Chicago on another ABC affiliate,WLS-TV 7 (which also used the same "circle 7" logo.)
Always liked Alan Pinter's voice.
I love the Circle 7 logo that station used to use.
They still use it but it's kinda merged with the abc logo in it.
It was also used in other big markets.
@@arthuridisIn the case of WXYZ, they were an O&O until the mid 80's. The logo simply got grandfathered into the new ownership with Scripps Howard.

CBLT TV Sign off with O Canada since 1989
It may return at a later date
Wow I'm getting old remember when certain free TV would shut off at 1am.
Alright who named this station after the last 4 letters of the alphabet?
WXTZ Using the O Canada (Canadian national anthem) From CBC and The National Film Board of Canada in 1980's (Using the CBUT TV sign off in 1980's)
Looks like the plane simulates a flight from Washington DC west across the US to Seattle and ends at San Francisco
It was during WXYZ's ABC campaign You And Me. Will you upload the WXYZ "You and Me and Channel 7" commercial please?
i bet that som people were PO with the fact that WXYZ, WWJ, and a few other stations did not play there national anthem at sign on and sign off.
Kool !

WXYZ in Detroit wasn't owned by E.W. Scripps until 1986!
Prior to this,It was an ABC O&O Station since its launch on 10/9/1948.
Sonny Corleone and Tom Hagen reunited.
Detroit, like Buffalo, is close to Canada. No Canadian anthem, though?
WXYZ-TV
