Lmao, I started learning Feng about eight months ago and my Steve friend has since told me on multiple occasions this “must be Steve’s worst matchup ever”.
I think his biggest missed opportunity to mention it was after talking about Feng's d/f+1 being 0 on block. He made the trade situation sound kinda meh.
For those struggling against Feng SSL to your left, its not merely his weakness but his kryptonite, you can avoid all of his bullshit. Just step him and you will throw most Feng players into panic mode.
@@kappacake3147 You mean homing moves like every other character, you do realize his homing moves are on the slower side, his best option is to use b4 which tracks really well but isnt a homing and lacks range.
@@lordbane9328 I am well aware. I apologize because I kind of misread your comment lul. I took it as you saying "SSL Feng and he has nothing he can do about it". So again, my apologies, man. ✌
I always feel like watching a good Feng wei (or playing against someone who doesn't know the matchup) is like watching one of those old kung fu movies where some local fighter goes up against the old guy who ends up training the protagonist.
I love the sneaky attacks on some of the people who main these characters like here where feng mains can't breathe without kenpo every 5 seconds props tmm ❤
There's a ton of crucial missing info in this video but, tbh, he's completely right that Feng is a 'whole package' kind of character. There'd be no way to cover 'basic Feng' in 8 minutes.
there is this option select, that if he wall splat you or after a spin close to the wall. he can then ki charge for a counter hitting mid f212 or a counter hitting low d4 1+2. both guaranteed to wall splat you. quite a legit scary mix up.
Welcome to TMM complains about a character and calls it a guide: Feng Edition. This guide is severely lacking and if you want better ones I've linked them after I go over the problems here. He didn't mention a lot of weaknesses or strengths, for example how he has bad range on mids (and snake dash to ws1 to remedy that, though it isn't scary like his long range lows like db3, qcf1), which direction to step him in (it's left) and how to remedy that (fishhook at close range, f1+2 or df3+4 at range), how to use OR counter shifting clouds, how to use OR counter snake dash, didn't mention that his lows are stronger than mids so it's a good idea to duck or low parry once in a while, and not mentioning b1 of all things I get that it's an 8 minute guide but not mentioning how to sidestep him, how to counter sidesteps, the fact that his lows are his strength, and ws1 which is one of his best moves (and complaining about his evasiveness while he's not as evasive as Ling or Zafina and he can also be played as a rushdown character pretty effectively) and not mentioning his good counterhit stuff especially b1 is just leaving out a lot of stuff for a "guide". This is severely lacking even for an 8 minute guide and if any of you actually wants a short guide check this doc (it isn't mine btw) docs.google.com/document/d/1-g64lum-CVZ_tch2BAbgjX2XwEyRi0ospzL-q6pbxIw/edit If you want a long guide KingJae's episode of Teach Me: Feng has Caiper, a great Feng Wei player who's also a great teacher and actually tells the utility and setups of his moves unlike TBS which only shows good moves and one use they have (which is a fine method of a guide for simple and basic characters like Kazumi or Kazuya, but not for Feng. They don't always do it, for example their Yoshi and Steve guide tries to go into as much detail as humanly possible in one guide it's just that their Feng guide is lacking if you want to learn utility of Feng's kit).
I think for an introduction it's good enough. Feng obviously doesn't main Feng and your criticism about the missing SS explanation is justified, in my opinion. Nonetheless, you shouldn't be so hard, beginners who pick up the character or want to fight him see the important stuff here. I would have also mention his bad block punishment
@@sobervision1049 Yeah ! And note that this move is only -13 on block so some characters like Yoshimitsu or Armor King only gets 14 (for Yoshimitsu) or 20 (for AKing) damages for blocking this move, if i remember correctly the move deals around 20 damages and give huges +frames, and he has a mid launcher mix-up with it, disgusting high reward/low risk 50/50 against some characters...
Hey TMM, this guide isn't in your 8 minute guide playlist, you might want to add it. Also, I LOVE this series, hearing some general tips for playing/dealing with characters in a short format is an invaluable resource in the Tekken community. As you know, Tekken players tend to be extremely thorough in these kinds of guides, even when it is sometimes not necessary for basics/general advice.
it can evade some high hitting mids at certain frames, like when both his head and feet are touching the ground and he's about to do the headstand for the flip, and after that he's in an airborne state (crushes lows), still the mid and low evasion aren't in the same frames though, so not as busted as ganryu's sit down
Soul edge instrumentals are my weakness. Il stay for the instrumental alone, but the fact its a tekken video......pretty close to perfect vibes man. Tru tekken wizard.
Something else to keep in mind is that the risk reward for ducking him is really skewed against feng. at least if youre playng kaz, you can launch all his lows, and a lot of his scary moves up close are highs, the mids are either pokes or knockdowns or wall splats, but thats not as much of an issue not against the wall. he also has s lot of fake pressure with his strings you can punish, and if he loses pressure, he is in a very unfavorable spot.
