i noticed the drums and shot changning before reading the description and they're great. it must have taken ages to do it and it really is a joy to watch, the video as a whole as well. the bit at 2:01 is absolutely amazing and then you do it again in the battle scene. also the effect with the eagles flying in his body at the end is amazing. really, really top class video!
So, I rarely leave comments (or watch non-ship videos, let's be honest), but as soon as I saw a Thorin video to a Woodkid song (Thorin and Woodkid both being things I dearly adore), I had to check out. This video is gorgeous and as I already have a weird amount of Hobbit-related feelings when I listen to certain Woodkid songs, everything was just perfect. So beautiful.
7 or more years have passed from when i first found it, and i STILL think about this video so often. middle school was the height of my tolkien obsession, and i would periodically watch this every time i thought about it. i still get chills from how epic the entire thing is. one of my favorite parts is when the shots change along with the drum beats; it's so satisfying. i also love the part where you can see the eagles flying in thorin's silhouette!!!!! it's gorgeous!!!! this was also the first time i heard "run, boy, run" and i think it just fits so well for thorin because all he does in the trilogy is run lol. the song is already beautiful on its own and then the orchestral swells just make it perfect. when i watched the umbrella academy i LOST MY SHIT because i instantly thought of this edit!!!!!! i was like "ohmygOD it's the song from the hobbit video aaaaahhh!!!!!" every time i rewatch that episode my thoughts immediately go to this masterpiece and i get so happy. thank you so much for making this because middle school me was completely in love with it and it made me feel so powerful and not alone. i am so fond of it to this day and now i want to go consume a bunch of hobbit media eeeeee
