Came here to say this same thing. He really missed a prime opportunity to use the "this is the way" quote.. i mean why on earth would he use Kuiil's quote? Total swing and a miss imo.

i have been waiting for odin to make a mandalorian helmet since he first graced my screen on diy prop shop some years ago

@@nonamehours6428 That series was part of the AWE Me channel- that channel went down the toilet a year or so ago when it collapsed for financial reasons or something ( worth googling for exact details ). The Man at Arms guys have gotten control of the channel and are starting to make their own produced content for it again, but it's early days- I doubt you'll ever see any of the other teams or series being brought back, mainly just the sword/knife stuff really from Baltimore knife & sword who did the Man at Arms builds.
The Mandalorian Blacksmith Helmet would be amazing. Her helmet design is sooo good because it looks ancient compared to everyone else.

I've already made like, 5 or 6 of this helmet. Some prototypes to try new techniques, and others are on display in my room.

At 7:16, Just a tip; hot glue works great for filling in the gaps on the inside of the cheek pieces. ;)

Please make the Blacksmith's helmet! Best looking armor in the show, honestly.
I was rushing to make my own Mando helmet and was having trouble finding a welding visor.
I used a roll of cheap Walmart window tint and the plastic cover from one of those 8 dollar poster frames you get from craft stores. Cost effective, flexible, and lots of leftover material for future helmets!

Hey Odin, a great way to get rid of foam fuzz is wax paper and an iron.
Lay the paper over the foam, set the iron around medium (irons will differ, play around with it) and press it to the paper on the foam.
The heat transfers the wax from the paper to the foam, smoothing it and giving it a bit of a seal
The paper you have left over just toss or use for scrap something.

Hey Odin, I love your videos. I just made a Mando helmet. I too found all visors were “sold out”. I went to harbor freight and bought a cheap face shield, went to auto zone and bought cheap window tint and made my own tinted visor. It worked surprisingly well and I’m a noob at prop making. It did have a flaw in it, but I think I know what I would have done differently to eliminate it in the future. You may want to explore a little this concept for future projects. Keep up the great work.

@@OdinMakes Hi Odin, I am trying to build this helmet using the pattern you have linked and I think it might have some mistakes. The visor panel (not the see through part but the foam around it) looks to be too wide and overlaps the back panel quite a lot on both sides. The cheek panels also don't seem to line up fully (mainly the biggest cheek panel compared to the smaller ones). Is that intentional? You mention having to do several iterations of each part in the video but my understanding was that the pattern you have so kindly provided is the final version?
