- I normally don't do side jobs. Being that I don't enjoy working on people's cars, takes the fun out of cars for me. However, I do sometimes come out of retirement for special requests from close friends and family. I also don't normally record my side jobs, but the homies recommended that I do and now here we are. Wasn't sure what I was going for. Hope this video is educational/entertaining.

You can change the upper dash board to display different settings as you wish. The headunit install does not affect these.

The android 13 head unit I just bought said you just plug it in after removing the original JBL radio....This looks like a LOT more.
Definitely a lot more work if you want to have all the nice features such as car play and a back up camera
Didnt show anything about the brackets when installing the lcd. All good u just take it off stock radio and apply it to new unit.

For years what I have done has velcroed using high temperature to velcro my tablet over the factory stereo (You can't get it on Amazon regular velcro will melt in the hot sun and not want to stick) so right now I have a 2012 Lexus RX with a 12-in screen that's a full tablet which means I can play RUclips, Netflix, Waze.... Any Android app and I can play videos while my car is moving... I had a 2012 Prius that I did the same thing on...
But why keep the stock headunit ?? Makes no sense just replace it

@@tuned_tunas wellllll. The stock head unit is basically perfectly paired to the car speakers so you can turn it up max volume and it should never blow the speakers where aftermarket unit might damage them eventually....

I don’t know bro. Since the one I did was JBL the parts list is a little different. Shouldn’t be too hard to find.
hi buddy great video, can we install 10.1" media player in preuis 2013 Japenes ? i bought a car yesterday and found out existing xtrone MP touc does not work and all the controls on steering do not work either do you think replacing a headunit will resolve all these issues ? thanks for your help
The way I installed this head unit made it so that the steering wheel controls don’t work. You need a separate harness adapter to make those work. You’re more than welcome to try that and see if that fixes your issues with the buttons.

Not sure if it will work for Prius with an existing back up camera. Maybe some more involved wiring but should be doable.

Separate module needed for that. But when you have Bose audio it complicates things

No sir you have to buy a separate module to make them work and they don't have the best reviews so I did not bother.

No you need to buy a separate adapter for that. And for the JBL you need two more parts. Didn’t seem worth it to spend that much just to retain steering wheel controls

Didn’t even know this car had a Bluetooth mic. We just use the one on the system. It has a better sound quality.

You have to get steering wheel controls that we didn’t decide to pick up.

Hey man! Thanks a whole lot for the video! I have the same exact unit and managed to get it working. The only part that's not working, well, 2 actually:
The seller sent me the wrong wiring harness and I lost steering wheel controls due to that. Also, I can't get aux to work. Might also be due to the canbus not being connected to the unit. The amp seems to work only with the radio, as when I play Spotify it sounds like ass (no bass at all, volume is much lower). Is there any way I can contact you for some info? Kinda afraid to start splicing wires on my own and I'd like to send you some pictures beforehand, if you have a minute.
Unfortunate to hear about your car troubles. Mine didn’t have the steering wheel controls. You have to have a separate unto to allow them to work again.as for the aux it works fine I just don’t use it ever since its more convenient to use the Bluetooth. The battery life display is on the top cluster where mph is displayed. There was no display here previously. Just the stock head unit

All brands that are a direct plug and play kit will be china brands. If you want a name brand head unit then you will definitely need to buy parts separately to make it compatible with your car. If you don’t want to buy things separately then be ready to spend more money on a kit that has everything I linked into one package. Best of luck

None will be plug and play you have to make connections from the headunit to the harness adapter. Still sounds clean in my opinion

I don’t like it coming from a 2011 Toyota Prius owner myself, I like the look of the stereo system and the dash and everything already,!I feel like I’m on the Enterprise from Star Trek, what I would do however I’d get a carplay unit I can attach to the top of the dash between the center and passenger side but more towards passenger side, not a big screen either, something that fits good so it doesn’t over block the very top dash screen the hybrid screen, and also would change the colors of carplay to the same as colors of Prius dash, if possible of course, I do like the camera in the back but I don’t like all those connections but good for anyone who wants to get this done this way , it’s just not how I would do it.

To some people this may seem like a lot of connections. But you do this enough times it’s all the same thing for every car. This is what the customer wanted and they are always right.
@@tuned_tunas most definitely if that’s what they want that’s what they get, I like the CarPlay’s you can attach to the front glass though, would be nice if Toyota had a screen already to sell rather than after market
