Like the idea of using dregs of leftover coffee to add to mix plaster for color of earth, easy use of ground cover as well.. use dirt from yard close to house for that fine sand/dirt, heat in oven to kill whatever critters are living in our Florida dirt.. have used tree branches as well for that wooded Forrest or tree in dioramas . Glad I had stuffed branches into a large baggie to dry out when on close examination movement inside of baggie had me second guess not to use, oven heat used again at 250 degrees for 30 minutes to “ kill” critters.
Cheers dude, I have sieved dirt from the garden and left it in a jar and blended dried autumn leaves, sawdust, all sorts, but the best results were smashed up plaster to make dirt, rubble and small fragments I reckon.
Buying books and research is the key.Knowledge is power.I have spent hundreds of hours researching and watching RUclips videos. I started this hobby 2 and a half years ago with nothing. I am retired now so i have lots of time to devote to this. I just brought 2 AK interactive books 1 is oils, washes and filters, another is ETO. I will be purchasing another concerning dioramas. You did a good job over all but a few suggestions : after scribing the building walls apply different shades of brown and red ,apply a thin coat of filler to represent the mortar then a wash to unify everything.Only other things were the trees and the lichen. The trees didn't look like any trees that i have ever seen i could be wrong and a little bare towards the bottom? This is just my opinion and i am by no means a professional modeler. I have been working on a diorama for a year now and i am almost finished just need to make a tree and order some figures. I have OCD so it's difficult for me cause everything has to be just right or i start over. Some RUclipsrs to watch are: Night Shift,Plasmo,Panzer Meister 36 and my favorite Laser Creation World also Andy's Hobby Headquarters and Champion Scale Modeling. Hope you found this helpful
Thanks for the advice Tim, I know most of those youtubers apart from Champion so I will check them out. Yeah the trees need work, It takes me about 1-2 weeks to make a dio, the model and the video and probably I should take longer but now I am videoing them its not a good time to spend more time on them, but its a good challenge to work within the time frame.
Excellent job done on the dio base Dave. Beautiful scenery, lots of details add interest. Thanks for sharing, take care and keep up the good work my friend.
Today, I found your channel suddenly. It's nice work and love to see. Thanks for sharing. Also, I subscribed your channel. Have good hobby time and stay safe please. Greetings, NOB
