Love you videos. Great adventures and more importantly great family time. I could only with that this option was available when I was a kid. I loved those family adventures and would love to revisit them with video. I can look at the pictures but would have enjoyed video. I’ve taken my daughter to places I visited as a kid a really wish I had video. Your kids are going to enjoy those down the road.
Thanks so much! We try to strike a balance - the video and photos are great for preserving memories, and I think our kids will be able to remember these trips better than I could remember the ones I took as a kid. That said, you can over do it too - and there’s something to be said about putting the camera away now and then and appreciating the moment. Not every sunset need to be posted on IG.
This was a superb and very informative video. Thank you very much for taking the time to make this and for sharing all the insider information about what you use and how you use it. I've wanted to do something like this ever since we got our UTV and I may actually give it a try now.
Thanks glad you liked it! Filming these rides, putting the story together and then hearing how other people react to them is a lot of fun. Get to be your own director! Great memories for the family too.
Hey ! Nice video ! a lot of good tips. I haven't heard of your channel before, it was posted in a local FB page here in New Brunswick, CAN. You guys have quite the set up, beautiful SXS, all the cameras, I love that 360 Camera too. I ride an ATV now with my dog up front in a basket, but with a growing family, I think a 4 seater SXS might be in the future. I'm subscribing and look forward to seeing your camping trips b/c that's exactly what I do on my channel. Thanks again ! Cheers !
Thanks! We’ve been seeing more and more subscribers from Canada to our channel. I’ve actually been trying to get up there for two years for a fishing trip but COVID had different plans. We’d love to get up there and do some riding too, see lots of good riding videos from your neck of the woods. The entire reason we got a four seater was because our four year old would flip out if we drove ANYWHERE in our 2 seat Ranger without him - even just pulling into the garage. So we realized we better get something for the entire family. We’ve taken our lab on a couple local rides, she can sit in the bed and loves it but once we put any gear in she just doesn’t have room. So when we travel she stays at the kennel across the street, which she probably actually enjoys more since she’s always trying to run over there to hang out with the other dogs lol
i love your channel, i ended up buying my first ssv and it is general xp4, i love your tips tricks . I think it's very expensive here, europe cleans it for breezes. can you tell me another cheaper brand?
Thank you so much 🙏🏼 we’re glad you enjoy our videos. I’m not sure I understand your question - are you asking about another camera option instead of the GoPro? If so, DJI has an “Osmo” action camera that is supposed to be pretty good. A company called Akaso makes cameras too that I have heard are good alternatives. Hope that is helpful!
this is some good tips, a lot of which I agree with that ive learned over time as well. I have also found sometimes the best footage ive made is just from a short 3km trip as so much happened, and having something excessively long isn't worthwhile. But onto a serious note, now I want a 360 lol
Thanks! I agree! We’ve gotten some great footage from the shorter rides…. Each get 180 😂 The 360 is sweet especially on that extended mount so it looks like it’s floating. Two things with it: you don’t get 4K in 180 mode - 1080p is your max resolution, and since the lenses aren’t replaceable you gotta be careful with scratches. I used Maguires ultimate car compound to get some scratches off my lens and that worked pretty good
Love how smooth these shots are - much better than my helmet mount. Looking to upgrade from my iPhone; what would you recommend for a camera / mount for an ATV? Something with clear smooth footage that won't break the bank, either! Thanks.
I really like my GoPros - hero 9 or hero 10. Battery life is better than the 8 and well worth the extra cost in my opinion. The image stabilization is incredible. I don’t know you’ll find anything better. There are tons of mounts (can get them on Amazon). I mainly use a sticky mount on the front bumper, on the dash, and clamp style mount with a bendable arm. Definitely worth picking up a GoPro.
We committed to putting up one video a week back in April just to see if it would force us to make more plans and go on more adventures. So far it’s worked!
You use the Adobe Premier Pro Software to edit you videos? Did you try any others, or have you had any complaints with Premier Pro? I am looking to start doing some install Videos and also some adventure riding videos and having a hard time deciding what to use. Love your videos of family adventures!
Awesome! Thank you. I used Premier Pro. I started with previous versions in the past so that’s why I stuck with it. It’s a great program, I know I’m barely scratching the surface but there are so many RUclips videos on it so it’s easy to look up how to do something. Final Cut Pro seems to be the other one. The only thing is I wound up having to buy a good MacBook to do my video editing. My PC just couldn’t cut it anymore. Biggest video advice I can give is don’t worry about being perfect. You gotta do it to learn how to do it… Good luck!
It was very time consuming at first… I’m getting better at it. We try to keep certain cameras in specific places. When you switch two cameras between the same mounting spot it becomes impossible to remember what camera took what shots. We also use some cameras to just grab a speciality shots… those don’t take a lot of video so we know what they have. We download our cameras into their own folders then and go from there. But believe me, when we started it was very time consuming. We’re just getting better at it I guess.
@@TheNorthwoodsFamily thanks I’ve done a lot of photography in my life but I find video much more time consuming. Like 2 cam setup for my kids soccer cutting to each side of the field based on ball movement. We just bought a General Troy lee 4 seater and hope to get out on some trails soon. We live in Kansas but building a lake house near Branson MO
Great info as I begin my journey just as you have. I have 2 drones, an old gopro 3, my Canon 80d and my honda 1000-5 sxs. What go pro woukd you recommend ? There are alot of action cams on Amazon that are great for 80.00 What do you think? One thing about the go pro is even after 10 years they have not fixed the problem of freezing up... Cannot believe they have not addressed thus. Gary
Thanks! Glad it will be useful. If you want the latest and greatest, the 11 of course is the way to go, but the 10 is really solid and can probably be had for a discount. I’ve had great success with mine, haven’t had issues with freezing in the newer cams and you will be amazed at how much better the image stabilization is on the newer ones. If you’re looking to get a deal, the nine is still really solid, and it takes the same batteries as the 10 and 11. I’m still using my 9… the 11 has some nice mode options for night time lapses, a little better options for slow mo and color, but I haven’t rushed out to buy one. I feel I’m in good shape with my nine or my ten. I hear DJIs action cameras are no joke too but I have no personal experience with them.
Alright, alright, alright! Thanks for making this video. You've shared an amount that really helps out.
Awesome! You bet man! This one was for you!
