- I have never played a game like Spec Ops: The Line & I never knew a game with a narrative as crazy as this even existed in video games. Given how Spec Ops: The Line came out in 2012 and it wasn't as massive as a success as other game's from that period I never thought Spec Ops: The Line would be as narratively engaging as it was. But holy fuck am i happy i gave this game a chance over a decade after it's release and i highly recommend you do the same!

Spec Ops does what "This War of Mine" does, but from the perspective of the soldier, show you the actual horrors of war, and the weight of the trigger every time you pull it.
shit, that is dark.......
The weight of the trigger is the weight of the button. As light as the consequences of your actions are heavy.
Why do I feel like I am talking just like the loading screens that condemn you? xD
"Do you even remember why you came here....?" "This is all your fault." - some random ass spec ops the line loading screen quote(s) - @@riiddisbuk2496
@@riiddisbuk2496 probably because the "The US military does not condone the killing of unarmed combatants. But this isn't real, so why should you care?" line is a thing
@@WackRusDud And speaking of such, why do people bring up that the "condemning" screen is breaking the fourth wall, but not the tips screen...
Who talk to the player anyway? 🤨🔍📝
"If Lugo was alive, he'd likely suffer from PTSD. But, he's the lucky one here."
Spec Ops Loading Screen.
Brutal
I always the remember the ending as "... survivors... one too many... ".
His mission was to find survivors, and his "last report" is saying he's the only survivor. And he wished he didn't make it.
"I thought my duty was to protect this city from the storm. I was wrong. I have to protect it from you."
That line hurts when you realize you were the villain all along.
It's always nice to see people still talking about this game. Truly, an underrated gem beneath the repeated sand of games we have today.
For real people prefer freaking call of duty vanguard for God's sake. But I guess to be fair call of duty was pretty good back then
You are not a soldier. You are an errand boi, sent by grocery clerks, to collect a bill.
That aint no apocalypse now
Spec Ops The Line's gameplay being generic actually works in the game's favor. Because it sells like a generic shooter game so you go play there thinking it will be some fun military shooter only to the game hit you hard af. It also works for the message the game shows.
Glad you appreciated what we created so many years ago. It has been quite a ride to get this done but reactions like yours really make it worth it!
Thanks for you and everyone in the team for making this masterpiece. It's easily in my top 10 favorite games, thank you!
If you worked on this just out of curiosity do know you know if walker is supposed to be in hell ?
The final game menu is a rain storm in Dubai. The final loading screen is Walker(Conrad?) standing in the rain. The return to Dubai ending is probably the true ending.
walker probably dies in the helicopter, everything that is hallucitaning has fade to white cutscene, ONLY ENDINGS where walker dies has FADE TO BLACK cutscenes
Then why are there fade to white cutscrnes in the beginning? Like when walking on the dunes? @@artiglieria2533
It makes me so happy to see my most anticipated game of 10 years ago get more and more recognition from the newer generation of people. I have played it through more times than I care to share, and I still love every second of it. The depth of conversation you can have with someone about this game is staggering, never have I seen so many layers and interpretations come from a video game.
I would have liked another Spec Ops game after playing The Line but apparently The Line was a commercial failure so tthere won't be any more Spec Ops games.
The game that recontextualizes the average 2010 protagonist
this game on FUBAR difficulty is straight up hell, it fits the theme they were going for really well
best *military* game ever, play it once every year
The single best story-driven game ever made (well, minus Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty).
I'm serious! This is how you do a deconstruction: You don't "subvert expectations" and proceed to insist that the player is wrong for liking Modern Military Shooters, you look them in the eye and ask them: What would a guy who plays these games and the protagonist of one feel if we showed them the horrific consequences of their actions in a realistic light? So much subtle foreshadowing, so much unease, all leading up to you walking into the aftermath of a White Phosphorous attack, which leads to you making a pointless choice and then perform your own, even worse White Phosphorous attack in the following level. Profound, tough, and fantastic.
This game is so slept on bruh
Not really, multiplayer sucked and it came out the same year as Black Ops 2 and Halo 4. The only good thing about this game is the 6 hour story, which back then paying 60 dollars for just that was crazy
you HAD to upload this 1 day after the sale ended?????
Good to see Spec Ops: The Line still getting attention after all these years.
That stop sign from the first level of the game kinda reminds of the would you kindly letter from the plane scene in the intro of Bioshock 1. 2K games is one of the best story writers & underrated as well.
Literally one of my favorite pieces of media ever
MASTERPIECE ♥
As of a few days ago, this game has been officially delisted from all online stores due to some expired partnership licensing. Hope this already underrated gem isn't lost to time.
Obviously. Pirating exists.
I love this Game
Amazing game
Now I try to play this game on fubar wish me luck guy cause the rest from easy to extreme hard I already done, now only one left is nightmare difficult type of this game
There’s one more ending where you as the player if you aim to the left, you can have Walker shoot himself instead of “Konrad” doing it.
Id be cool with a remaster
game sadly got delisted- ;w;
@@SomeRandomHelldiver07 appreciate the heads up
@@mastapease3461 it got delisted cus of a old music license expired and I guess it expired, without the devs wanting to renew it..
Truly a tragedy
@@OriginalCynic fr..... and it was such a good game too-
On you march and for what
Does this video contain spoilers?
Yes
That thumbnail is curse
The US armed forces does not condone the use of force upon unarmed citizens...
But none of this is real, so why should you care?...
The loading screens from the 2nd half of this game psychologically destroyed my 16y/o self....
