The opening is along San Fernando Rd (route 99) heading north from about Colorado Blvd in Glendale, CA. On the right :34 (west of San Fernando Rd) is the easily identifiable Aeroscopic streamline modern building (with tower). Further up it crosses a small bridge :59 over the Verdugo Wash. you can see the road bridge which I cross the wash on weekly. At 1:27 it also passes a Glendale Water & Power building on the left which is at Grandview. You then see lights on the top of telephone poles 2:10 which I believe is along side the old Grand Terminal Airport, LA’s original airport, now Disney Imagineering. The side shot looks like it’s also along SF road further north in Sunland, although it shows Van Nuys train stop. That may mean it’s out on the track N bound to Oxnard that runs up the coast and branches off the SP’s mainline in Burbank. All in all a great piece of train and L A history. BTW in response to one posting here, no it seldom snows in LA, you do see dust and steam blowing off the engine however.
Appreciate your clarity
This music along with night shots from back then makes this feel like i actually time traveled to be on that train, it felt very surreal
i guess Im kinda randomly asking but do anybody know of a good place to watch newly released movies online?
@Willie Ronald Lately I have been using flixzone. Just search on google for it :)
@Kane Soren Yup, been watching on Flixzone for since march myself =)
@Kane Soren Thanks, I signed up and it seems like a nice service =) I really appreciate it !
@Willie Ronald happy to help =)
The most haunting images I have ever seen.
Wow...... Please make more videos.
At 4.:03 the station is Van Nuys. What an amazing view of the valley. Still rural with trees.
Really big searchlight was on the train.
I love the background music you have chosen for this video. I really hits the spot as far as memories of a long ago past in the Valley. I am so glad you did not use country music which is what many rail videos use.
Great footage... some of the best footage I've seen in years 👏
Great footage! I love it to see the Cars passing by.
Great footage through history. Important to have all historical footage transferred to disk.
This is so cool. Such a trip back in time,
I have taken my share of pictures from the tail end of an AMTRAK train, but this is a trip back in time. I wonder if the flecs and smoke at times indicate this is a steam locomotive or a diesel that had smoke come out as well for certain types. Great find for rail fans on RUclips.
Beautiful
Will you let us know what music is from 3:55 to 8:03 ? Pictures are wonderful
This must have been the Southern Pacific "Owl" passenger train which was an overnight train between Los Angeles and San Francisco/Oakland. The Owl travelled through the Burbank corridor just outside LA.
great job
Love it!
Hello from Kansas 🇺🇸
Is that Foothill Blvd aka route 66? Some of those buildings look familiar
Excellent !!
Try to do this on an Amtrak or Metrolink and the camera would bounce all over the place. My guess is that this was taken from an open-platform observation car.
is it just me or is the car st 3:47 driving really fast>?
lol
The film is sped up.
Lord, take me back to this time. I'll never pray for anything else again.
I got a Question... Does it rain or snowing in LA at this moment? I can see many particles...like today, everyday
Yes. At this moment.
It is not snowing or raining. You are seeing the light reflect off the smoke, steam and embers coming from the smokestack of the steam locomotive. Remember, this was filmed in the 40's and the steam locomotive engine was still predominately in use.
What's the name of this bg music?
8:59 What are those two guys up to? 😂 😂
I dreampt of a train last night well train tracks
maybe you are gonna travel soon
HIPPITY HOP
Not like a dream to be so direct
Every person in this beautiful film is dead now. All dead. Gone.
Love the wig wags
