to bad it is mirrored, lefthanddriving an texts wrong!!!
My thought too!
Looks good from here
It’s incredible to see how clean and how traffic should be… we sure ruined a beautiful city. Should have never gotten rid of the street cars.
Why mirror image?
Very well seen probably scared lol .
God I really miss Old America. Back when Los Angeles was actually a nice place to live.
Except for, you know, the Japanese living in J-Town, the Chinese in Chinatown, and African-Americans and Mexicans who were only allowed to live in certain neighborhoods on the South and East sides of town. And if they tried to buy a house in another neighborhood? They'd get terrorized by the community. LA still isn't great but it has been getting much better. Crime is down tremendously since the '90s, public transportation is getting better again and at least the city is more accepting than it ever was.
@Mat It is a positive thing in the context I meant it in. My view is that people should not be segregated by race or any other factor for that matter. Unfortunately, this was the case in LA during the time period this video was shot, the remnants of which are still seen to this day. I even dare say that if LA and American cities in general had never implemented segregation practices, violent crime would never have peaked as high as it did in the 90s. Policies like redlining and segregation had a huge effect on minorities and especially the African-American community. With better integration, we wouldn't have seen the enormous despair that has only slowly started to fade away in the last 20-30 years.
Good music choice
This film is being projected from the wrong side. I was re-wound backward. Looks like hand-held footage from a blimp.
did cars really used to drive on the left side or was this footage inappropriately mirrored?
So this film is going in reverse or this is not LA. Look at the cars going the wrong way on the wrong side of the streets.
Nah. Not “So this film is going in reverse or this is not LA.” The video looks mirrored. /
Interstate 10 wasn't quite as busy. Was 5pm traffic?
Looks like the first half is circling around Hollywood, Hollywood Bowl, etc.
I was hoping to see Lincoln Park and East La. because I worked there in late 1980-1990s
Toward the end they hit Culver City and the studios and the old back lot where later was filmed Hogan’s Hero’s and Andy Griffith.
Also,
It looks like this version is reversed per the cars on the wrong side of the 5fwy heading up the Grape Vine.
All of this sprung out of the earth in less than 50 years
And considering the fault lines it sits on it’ll probably disappear just as suddenly
The cars drive left ?
Was this shot with a drone?
No its a alien ship
You folks always have the best finds.
The background music sounds like the one from SIMS :D
I love this old footage of the past. I've worked in film restoration for years.
No one cares wht u did
Was the last clip was showing the Walt Disney Animation studio?
HOLLYWOOD from the air!
Since they are driving on the wrong side of the road, I am guessing this was shot by using a 45 degree mirror pointing down? Interesting to see, thanks.
RIP old generations
great video !!
Pretty
Looks the same just with modern cars. Love my hometown
