I have a theory: the reason their not scared in normal mode is because they already escaped the game and are just playing from their computers. Hardcore mode, however, is an alternate timeline where they didn't escape and their lives are literally at stake I will say however that it is extremely out of character for BF to be scared, like this is just common knowledge at this point

Or maybe in hard-core mode they are playing in hardcore mode. In hardcore mode you only have 1 life so that could be why they are more cautious.
