Drove pass this place 2 days ago on my way upstate. Unfortunately I was in a rush but it caught my eye. Anyone know why this place was abandoned? Or what is happening with it? I so want to go back to check it out.
a Chinese invest company bought it back in 2020 and has plans of renovation, however Covid stopped them from proceeding and i haven’t heard anything since. just passed it today and it’s still just sitting looking the same
Catskill area is dead for tourism for years. We used to go when I was a kid in the 70s, and those may have been the last better years for the area in general. Everyone goes to beaches and to one up each other.
Ive driven past this place so many times. its so weird. it looks like it was so popular back in the day. the mobs influence never left that place. people have tried to rebuild it. all attempts have failed.
Is it possible for you to go back and pass the drone again…. Me and my friends went by and saw some cool stuff not caught on camera but still part of the the hotel pretty cool shooting range in the back
Just drove by this place today while heading upstate and stopped my car to take some pictures, crazy how they just abandoned such a huge resort. Does anyone know the reason they abandoned it??
Came across this place while driving up that way to do some Turkey hunting about two years ago. Stopped and explored what I could. Definitely a cool spot
As of some point in 2020, this resort is under new ownership. While driving by to see it isn't necessarily a bad idea, entry into the actual property will likely be a bit more risky than at the time this video was made. www.thehour.com/news/article/Friar-Tuck-Inn-s-new-owner-has-big-plans-for-15597658.php

In New York's old resort towns? Easy. Catskills or Adirondacks, one can likely throw a rock anywhere in the woods and land it somewhere within a few hundred yards of an abandoned resort or hotel of some sort. Many of the ones in the Catskills can be found simply by driving the old highways and county roads. May be just as easy in the Adirondacks as well, but I don't spend enough time driving around out there to say for sure. Have gone by this resort and others (including Buckingham Palace) in the same area many times while on the job

Drove past it last night. Hadn’t been down that way in quite a while. Remember it from years ago as a kid.

I just drove by a few times this week wondering if it was open but realized it was abandoned. Trying to find information on it 😕
@@jenjen2492/Mikey Hines: I used to work there.
@@jeffrey322 How was it there?
@@jenjen2492: To work there or otherwise?
Next time, please don't say the location of these places. The insides are still vintage and have everything still inside
They are completely gutted and boarded up at this time.
@@jonb2793 Thanks for letting the world know. 🙄
Why? I could easily see it from road on Route 32. Not sure exactly why you're being so protective.
Place was cool in the late 70’s. Slowly went down hill after that.
How do you find all these abandoned places?

It's also worth mentioning that it's at a major intersection.
