God I miss him so much. He is not only an under rated singer/musician but an under rated, misunderstood man.

Im so glad this video exists. Scott was an INSANELY TALENTED SINGER. Ofc the media chose not to ever mention that. It was the most important part. ❤

He may not have had the most amazing range, but his music and his emotion really cuts through

Don’t need a great range to have a great voice. Chris Cornell can only go 3 octaves and listen to him.

@@AstroZombie1 . Chris had more soul and blues in his voice. Scott had a higher range. Both were generational talents and exceptionally gifted singers and two of the three best ( along with Layne Staley ) of the 90s to 2010 rock movement as far as pure lyrical talent.

Been a rock/pop fan since 1966. Listened to a shit ton of bands and songs. Scott is one of my top three favorite singer/songwriters. He could do it all, a musical chameleon. Sorely missed. 😔

I was thinking “natural baritone” and I’ve heard that phrase when people analyse Freddy Mercury’s vocals. There’s at reason Duff and Slash worked with Weiland for Velvet Revolver because he had that range Axl once had. It’s interesting to hear Axl’s speaking voice when interviewed. He sounds like a 100kg dude with a bass voice. Velvet covered Patience and I remember watching it thinking how Weiland would tackle the high notes in “I’ve been walking the streets at night”. He didn’t go for the high notes, instead went for a lower, more jazz like vocal and I think the band may have changed the arrangement to suit it and it was cool as fuck

This! That song is the hardest of them all, even though it seems easy at first glance.
The verse is surprisingly exhausting to sing, it's pretty high and with no breathing breaks at all. He is singing most of the song on "thin ice", meaning he is at the edge of his normal vocal range having to belt out the lines to avoid going into falsetto. The only comfortable part of that song is the bridge, but it's still a breathing exercise on it's own. That guy could really sing and had his technique down.

Scott Weiland was the biggest underrated/under appreciated singer, who was also my favorite singer of all time. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of him.
I am grateful to see more people making videos honoring him. Thank you

Just discovered this vocalist. Awesome! If you can hit E2, adding sub harmonics you can drop down to E1 ;) (i think it is a third getting added when adding vocal fry, which drops the note 12 octave) Quite practical to learn if you don't know any bass or octavist when recording choirs! But it takes some years to master...
