In 1966 , my dad bought a new Fairlane 500,289 four barrel. He wanted the 390 with a 4 speed, but mom said’ no, get a family car’. I was about 5 when he got the car, and when mom wasn’t with us, he wasn’t easy on the throttle. In the early/ mid 50s , he had a 40 Ford Standard coupe with a Cadillac 354 hooked to a Lasalle transmission and a two speed differential that walked away from every other car in the area. Grew up with a rodder, so no wonder that I’m one at 62.
I'd like to see each one of these cars with just a set of headers installed back then when they were new and a set of drag slicks just to see what they really could run. That 66 396 Chevelle- 14.2? Headers, slicks and the right gear, at least a 3.42, I'm guessing more like low 13s. The same for any of those cars, especially the big blocks. Knock off a second with headers/traction and a decent mid 3's gears, which you could order right from the factory. Those skinny ass biased ply tires, Im surprised they could get low 14s out of those things.
You could go on & on as to cars that should have been mentioned but everyone has an opinion for Me it's the "64" Oldsmobile f85 Cutlass 442 with the 330 4bbl and Muncie M20 4spd transmission . 🇺🇸🇵🇷🦊👍
Not only did you forget about the 375 horsepower SS 396 Chevelle , you left out the car that the street hemi couldn't beat , the 1966 Chevy II , Nova , or Chevy II SS with the 327 cubic inch , 350 horsepower small block .

Just subbed keep this content 👌 🙌 coming
Best car was a 1965 442 convertible big motor 4-speed my friend had one in high school it was a monster
I had the 66 olds , 😢 miss that car a lot of good memories .
Nice 60s muscle. My favorite has to be the Buick Gran Sport 40; with that grill that comes to a point & that cool center counsel.
One of those 66 442's once bought me a very expensive ticket...
I'll take that GTO, just wow.
@ 6:48 .. Why didn't you mention the Ford " Shelby G.T. 500 " ? !
