So pretty much what happened was Danny didn't really get ghost powers. Danny died in that accident, but because he was in between a ghost dimension....he was able to turn into his ghostly form. So really Danny Fenton died, and Danny Phantom is his corpse being possessed by his own ghost. That's dark af
Well im im gonna Said something sad and creepy but i prefer this theory concept or idea than the concep of butch saying that the ghost now are angel monster or aliens .
Makes you wonder what the inherent difference is between being alive, with your soul in your body, and being dead but reanimating yourself with your own ghost

Just going into a ghost portal and activating it will not automatically give you only powers, Vlad got sick for some time and years later it came back to a deadly degree. If you're not lucky you will probably just die and stay dead because of how much electricity and ecto energy is flooding you're body, If I remember correctly the chance of surviving and becoming a half ghost is really low.

Well Dani was a faulty clone of Danny.
The portal that gave Vlad his powers worked slightly differently so the effects would be different
