    Lawn Lake is my favorite hidden gem trail in the park; it's especially gorgeous in early Summer when the river is raging. And in my opinion it's one of the best place to see moose. That moose LOVES to hang out near the trail. Reminder to all who might consider coming up here, if you see a moose, you don't want to be quiet - you want to be loud, let him know you're there. I am also super happy that you know and share the history lesson behind the Lawn Lake and the dams, I usually feel like a weirdo when I take friends up here and give them the same story. Love this!

      Thank you for sharing the moose knowledge! I waited for 5 minutes for some other hikers so we could hike in a group and make some human noise.
      it is so so good up there! I have not been up to Lawn Lake other than in September so I'll have to make it up there early summer next year :)

    I love your videography! As a fellow Coloradan, I would love to hear more trail reviews, especially the ones where you're dispersed camping. You always seem to choose really beautiful places.

    The golden aspens!! Gorgeous.
    Just finished my longest run- 23k trail race with ~2500 feet of climbing, so similar to this adventure. Definitely need some time to recover but I absolutely loved covering that much ground, seeing the different forest habitats, pushing myself. So much fun to run around in the woods.

      Congratulations that is so amazing! I bet it was so beautiful- there is something to be pushing your mental and physical boundaries on trail with beautiful views. So stoked for you!!

    I suggest leaving your jewelry at home. If you ever experience a car break in you don't want your engagement ring gone forever. Unfortunately trailhead crime is a thing. By the way, I loved that quick smile and arm wave as you were running down. I'm guessing you were feeling the runners high then - at least that's what it made me think of. I love that feeling!

      Yes- I absolutely need to make it a habit to leave my jewelry at home because I am always wearing them. But thank you!! It was such a beautiful day it was hard not to be happy 🫶

    Thanks for taking us along! this was one of my favorite trails from this summer, but I would highly recommend Crystal Lake next time you're up there. A couple more bull moose hang out past Lawn, one of them literally laid down right on the trail lol.

      Thank you for the recommendation! I'll definitely have to go check out Crystal Lake next time. That's so wild they were laying down in the trail- it looked like there were plenty of willows up that way so I'm not too surprised!

    Great video! What a gorgeous place, moose and all. I'd love to see a video on the best trails in the Rockies! I'd always wanted to move out there, but I married a man with deep roots here in the NE, so I'll live through you. I hope your jewelry was hidden! We have a huge problem with vehicle break ins at trail heads. Looking forward to seeing your upcoming adventure!

    Leave your ring at home.. If your vehicle got broken into, they would take that ring in a heartbeat.

    Warm food waiting for you back at the car after a long run? Genius idea. Why have I never done it? Just need aluminum foil and an insulated cold/warm pack. The ketchup was wrong

      it's such a game changer- you can also bring a camp stove if you're feeling ambitious- I've grilled up a burrito at a trailhead before 😂

      @MountainHighLife  4 месяца назад +1

      so beautiful! Temps up in the mountains felt perfect to me- upper 40's to low 50's up until around 10am!

      My fav is Sky pond. Second to that Odessa Lake. Moose are sketchy but the Elk are def second to that! I had 2 block my way and had to double back after 20 min, they would let me pass LOL. (And yes tried off trail and there was another blocking me going that way as well 😂) Sandbeach is awesome BTW!

    I wonder if ketchup can serve as energy gel replacement during run lol

    Always be careful with moose. They are strong, sometimes aggressive and maybe dumb as a rock! There seems to be more of them in RMNP than in years past when you would rarely see them. Now I see them often.

      Fun (or maybe not so fun) fact: moose are not native to Colorado. A few would be seen in the state but never enough to be considered to have a population here. 12 were intentionally brought in during the 70s to be hunted, and they've just done really well since.

    • @MountainHighLife
      @MountainHighLife  4 месяца назад +1

      I didn't know that about moose- that is so awesome to know. They really have done quite well!

    • @MountainHighLife
      @MountainHighLife  4 месяца назад +1

      Absolutely- I love seeing them from afar, but I am so scared to run up on one. I've been seeing quite a bit on the Fall River side of the park!!

    is it allowed to pause my watch for moose? moose are so big and dumb and unpredictable that i fear them so much

    • @MountainHighLife
      @MountainHighLife  4 месяца назад

      always allowed ;) but I totally agree. I love them so much, but fear them equally 😂
