Love everything here! I want cities with lots of public transit and lots of these types of devices to get everyone around. It would be so much better than all the cars!
Shouldn't e bikes be called mopeds as it has a motor and you pedal? I think part of the name problem comes from UK US difference where In the UK a 50cc with pedals used to be called a moped, but then they lost the pedals and now people call 50s mopeds or scooters, and anything over 125s are definitely scooters not mopeds. Surely just standing or sitting scooter is the main difference, if you ignore the legality issues. The only other real difference is the size and width of the scooters, but that varies model to model.
As Tim Scott said, you can't call them mopeds because they don't have pedals. Technically they're all motorcycles, and the reason we call them scooters is because of the way you sit on them and diminutive size. The Vespa style should be called "step-in scooter", the Bird style should be called "standing scooter" and the Bird style with seat should be called "sit-on scooter".
Having used an ebike exclusively for the last year, I have to say that the microcars are really an interesting proposition, because weather isn't always great, and covering up in waterproof clothing to ride in the rain is kind of a miserable experience. There are two things IMHO that microcars need to improve upon though. First is their acceptability on bike paths, and second is the repairability. The Eli in particular looks like it's made from a lot of proprietary parts. My ebike is almost entirely made out of off-the-shelf parts, which makes it very easy to find replacements when needed, easy to repair, and cheap to repair.
It’s too hot in Phoenix to have a micro mobility battery just baking in my garage charging overnight. I would make some kind of set up inside my house to keep the batteries at a nicer temperature during recharge. Of course, I worry about battery safety inside my house. were there any products they’re geared toward charging safety like a mini firewall or anything?
That new Veo tandem bike is super intriguing. Any chance we can get an update to that list of passenger bikes you guys put out last year? I've been looking for a bike with a 370lb payload capacity for myself and the girl! Great video, lots of interesting stuff!
Really don’t like the fact that you misrepresented the fact that this event was held in San Francisco… it was not. You were in Richmond, California at the historic Ford Motor Co. Assembly Plant which was built in 1931 as the first auto assembly plant in the west coast and now a National Historic Park. What else did you misrepresent in your video?
The fact that the show was huge tends to make me think that attitudes to personal transportation are rapidly changing away from mainly just large four wheeler vehicles and that this may be reflected in a marked reduction in car ownership in the future; car ownership is already falling among the youth demographic. Car ownership is no longer the right of passage it once was when I was young.
Cool. And a COOL Place to showcase all the new Electric transportation vehicles. Wishing The HyperLoop was already available I would love to be there to experience all these cool rides and the San Francisco area. I prefer to stay on land than flying a polluting plane.
Hyperloop is impossible due one simple energy factor see vacuum trains. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vactrain The only reasonable way to account for the major energy problem is with fusion or very efficient solar, since we have neither the closest thing we probably could do is have massive nuclear power plants every couple of miles. Basically meaning there's no way to effectively remove enough air out of the tube to achieve a vacuum, so that gadgetbahn fails like every other. The only solution we have that seems to work every time is a train with overhead wires.
Conspicuously absent: Better Bike with their upcoming new PEBL model, and whomever owns Organic Transit now. Doubting either of them have a real product coming, at this point.
REALLY?? 🤔🤔 We have human powered vehicles that can move up to 100,000 pounds. We pedaled an F700 Dump Truck UPHILL with our system. We can load that F150 on the back of BIG RED and pedal away. 🤣🤣🤣💀💀😁
You should stop comparing e-bikes and scooters to Tesla, as its not even endearing. They have poor quality control, you cant buy replacement parts for them, and autopilot has already been well surpassed by Mobileye and Waymo, companies that actually have level 4 autonomous taxi's you can use.
This is one of the biggest misconceptions (and strawmen) of the e-vehicle community. It's also about state registration, license tags, yearly property tax, yearly emissions inspection, expensive insurance, having my catalytic converter stolen, having to keep a car and pay for all of that (plus monthly payments) when I never go more than 10 miles from my house. It's about being able to bike while still having the reassurance that I'll still be able to get home if my bum knee locks up. It's about seniors being able to exercise and go enjoy the outdoors again even though they no longer have the strength to power-pedal themselves up a moderate hill. It's about *anyone* in your household being able to hop into/onto your vehicle and zip up to the store for something, regardless of whether they have a license, are on your insurance, etc. It's about being able to fold up an entire vehicle and toss it in the back of my car when I accompany my husband on a work trip, and getting to ride around whatever city we're in even though he has the car. The people in those micro-cars are in no more danger than someone on a bike, vespa, or motorcycle, and it's not just about being green. Try knocking that chip off of your shoulder and looking at things from the perspective of someone who *isn't* barely 30yrs old and perfectly healthy.

Cars really ruin so much.
the big electric scooters should be called "electric mopeds" to differentiate them from electric kick scooters.

Segway uses the "eMoped" name in some countries to refer to, well, their electric mopeds.

Wowww…SO many exciting options! Good to hear about the Ely (sp?), since so many of its early investors thought that they wouldn’t ever deliver.
Enjoyed This From The Caribbean 🇻🇨
Roller skates, mini cars and driverless bike ,amazing!

You may want to consult the manufacturer. These micro vehicles won't give off as much heat when slow-charged at home. It could be feasible in Phoenix.
That new Veo tandem bike is super intriguing.

Those micro cars are so neat!!
I can't wait till there're available!
that is an amazing selection of products to choose from. holy!
I think the regulatory framework and laws are going to be the biggest hurdles with most micromobility, at least in NA.
Very interesting stuff and great all in one video, thanks for sharing
would like to see a three wheeler with doors and windows. chitown weather you know
Did they not give out any prices ?
That's Richmond, CA not San Francisco
Looks like you were working hard but still having a lot of fun.
Nicely presented👍👍
You drove through the tenderloin in the Arcimoto? Brave.
Anything in the entry level pricing?
EUCs are part of the future of micro mobility. Hope you had a chance to check out EEVEEs.
Great coverage
Where are the Electric Unicycles though???!
So many EUC companies on the West Coast, Alien Rides is in San Francisco
I WANT TO BUY AN AVENTURA-X!!! Wow...sooooooooo beautiful, where do I buy one?
Excellent review(s).
Make it a two part series 😊
Great video 👏

Hey fellas, search for Ather electric performance scooter, a Bangalore based startup in India.
sweet!!!
RICHMOND CA!!!! Not in San Francisco
for all the micro cars, how are they safety wise? they look nice, but safety reqs have killed plenty of cars before
Hope you'll be at some of the Fully Charged shows Micah & then you can tell us more about your inner Audrey Hepburn, haha
Nice cars and we need more ebikes with pedals to help in case batterys go low
Can we have chapters next time.
pretty cool
Just add adjectives to give clarity ...
Electric kick-scooter
Electric moto-scooter
:)
So cool ❤

I call micro scooters trotinettes now from the French like garage, fuselage etc.
Moped ! Is the word you’re looking for

I hope your very young because your gonna be waiting a long time on Elon’s fever dream to become a reality…
No bike cars at all....? :(
Wooow Very nice

I am sooo done with kickscooters...
Damn, I wish there was an electric unicycle there...
I'd love to drive a Nimbus, but in a city like Las Vegas there are too many drunk drivers. Adoption in Europe will probably be better.
Eli can bring you to work .. stop using v8 he he👍
You guys should collaborate with a great eMobility RUclips Channel called Electroheads. You both are similar.
Moped and scooter
you neglected to wear a helmet in all the test rides
👍👍🇵🇭🇵🇭
Just like the EV bikes no license no insurance >? Like EV scooters?
Apollo scooters suck. I got one and it's parts were just terrible.
F150 will shred EV into pieces. Gotta have dedicated EV-only or 20 mph limit zones, man -

Tiny-wheeled scooters are inherently unstable. Make sure you have health insurance in place before buying one.
Arcimoto hemorrhaging money… Faction will need a vehicle supplier… Let’s be honest and improve e-bikes and scooters. The rest feel gimmicky.
Wait until you get in an accident in these tiny car and Mom will not able to ID you. how silly people are in the name of green. lol

Let me guess, you’re scared of new things aren’t you?
Wallets won't magically fly off into the sunset, also it costs nothing to be considerate to folks in electric bikes and kick scooters.
