Set in the mid-1990s, Captain Marvel follows Carol Danvers, a former U.S. Air Force fighter pilot, as she turns into one of the galaxy's mightiest heroes and joins Starforce, an elite Kree military team, before returning home with new questions about her past and identity when the Earth is caught in the center of an intergalactic conflict between two alien worlds.
Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, it is intended to be the twenty-first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The film is written and directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, with Meg LeFauve, Nicole Perlman, Geneva Robertson-Dworet, Liz Flahive, and Carly Mensch also contributing to the screenplay. Brie Larson stars in the title role, alongside Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, Mckenna Grace, Clark Gregg, and Jude Law. Set in the 1990s, the story follows Danvers as she becomes Captain Marvel after the Earth is caught in the center of an intergalactic conflict between two alien worlds.
A film based on Carol Danvers has been in development at Marvel Studios since as early as May 2013. A release date was first set in October 2014, and Perlman and LeFauve were hired as a writing team the following April after submitting separate takes on the character. Larson's casting was announced at the 2016 San Diego Comic-Con International, making it Marvel Studios' first female-led solo film. Boden and Fleck were brought on board to direct in April 2017, and Robertson-Dworet soon took over scripting duties, the story of which borrows elements from the 1971 "Kree-Skrull War" comic book storyline. Location filming began in January 2018, with principal photography beginning that March, taking place in California and Louisiana. By the start of filming, the remainder of the cast was filled out as were the additional screenwriters. Filming concluded in July 2018.
Captain Marvel is scheduled to be released in the United States on March 8, 2019, in IMAX and 3D. - Кино
It's really cool that flying scene isn't entirely CGI.
Shooting that would have been fun though. Haha.
it is cgi, its just reference shot, its one thing i dislike about marvel, you can see this in spider-man as well, they shot the scene pratical, but instead of touching up the suit like sony used to do in raimi movies and amazing spider-man they completely replace the actor/stuntman with cgi........want a exemple ? watch the first far from home trailer or teaser, the scene where the fire monster is attacking is completely pratical, you can feel spider-man on the scene.....watch trailer 2 and they replaced him with a cgi character and also added lots of motion blur to try to cover this, he looks like a toy.
@@bladerj so u saying u r saying they sould not use cgi and actually make tom holland swing and kick a fire elemental (which is not even real btw)
@@pallavchettri8658 yes, if you watc the behind the scenes that is EXACTLY what tom did with wires, and it was much more convincing then replacing him later with a full cgi spider-man.

I dont see why people dislike Captain Marvel so much
Some people are just insecure.

Hahahahahahah😂😂😂😂 your funny
Cuz weak plot. We were waiting something more incredible like Black Panther or Iron man 1, I don't know. But it was a lazy movie, sadly
No character arc, bri larson is very bland as the character....
@@elongatedmanforever1252 you do know it's a movie right? brie doesn't have does powers in real life so exactly what is the insecurity ?
I’m gonna say it now
I loved this movie
i know it is kinda off topic but does anyone know of a good website to watch newly released tv shows online ?
Same
I vehemently disagree with people who say Carol goes through no arc. The movie is about Carol Danvers’ identity Crisis and I’m not just talking about her past. When she figures out that she was lied to all this time she questions who she is and what her true purpose is. The final act is overcoming that and finally realizing who she truly is. That is her arc.
She goes through zero changes. The only thing different about her is she’s no longer fighting for the Kree.
She is stupid. How many power she has n she doesn't even know how to use them n use them perfectly. This is Rey syndrome. This is one of the most aweful character ever
That is true. My personel problem is that story has been done to death. "Your power is connected to you feelings, do not let them control you. Have the emotion of a cucumber."
@@asifmetal666 umm...she had a device limiting her from using her powers and holding her back with no memories the whole movie...when she pulled that bitch off she was able to use her powers fully without stress. That's faster than most mcu characters.
Shes not an idiot who couldn't use her powers...shes a strong ass woman who has memories stolen by the Kree and supreme intelligence and her power
Meh that's what is boring.
Man, Samuel looks like he really has a mad friendship with Brie.
He has. They are

I don't get the purpose of this comment. Flying in movies has always been on a blue screen then adding the effects later. Same with man of steel and supergirl.
They should've included the "Heading to Torfa" scene. It showed their group dynamics and a bit more personality from Minn-Erva and Vers.
They did that was the first one

Stupid actor
The Skrull dancing may be the funniest thing in existence. That is all.
2:42 I love her
For those wondering about the space fight scene being cgi despite it being filmed as shown at 3:16, that's unfortunately a problem with Marvel generally. The company that does vfx effects for their movies, has in the past, taken either superhero suits or entire fight sequences and covered them entirely in cgi. The biggest examples of this is how spider-man's suit is sometimes completely cgi in Homecoming, or the infamous fight in BP between t'Challa and Killmonger that looks like it was out of a video game. It's definitely frustrating that instead of using the footage of the actors doing the sequence on set, they end up replacing them entirely with cgi. Also, I love this film and appreciate it's refreshing take on the superhero origin story. I think Larson delivers a great performance. It's unfortunate that some people feel the need to constantly hate on the film and actress instead of just getting on with their life.
Ps. not talking about people who are respectfully critical, just about those being sexist douchebags.
@Red Stilletto it's not hate, the movie is not that interesting, please how is a review hate? dont come here and talk as if you have never disliked movies from other people before cmon
the movie is not directed or produced by brie, so why you think people hate her because they hate the movie is just stupid, I dont like the green lantern movie but yet I love deadpool.... same actor, different producers
LOL to be exact the tchalla vs kill monger was bad because they had only 6 weeks to do it.. marvel was busy for infinity war thats why theu didn't had much time to make the cgi effects...
*Important: I have realized that this turned into a fuckin essay so I have included a two sentence tl:dr at the end, but I recommend reading my full comment if you actually care because my summaries are, generally speaking, misrepresentative at best.*
I think there were a couple of problems with the movie that often get brushed off.
1. It was framed as feminist for literally no reason; Marvel has had strong female characters since literally their first movie with Pepper Potts, and Black Widow in Iron Man 2. Framing this movie as the first female lead movie isn't wrong but they relied too heavily on that and it detracted from any good feminist messages this movie had to share leaving them to be shoved down our throats.
2. It was shoved into a strange area of the MCU continuity; an unfortunately large part of this movie was simply to allow Marvel to bring Capt. Marvel to Endgame and not only did it not make much sense, but it meant they didn't get to develop her backstory into one nearly as compelling as that of Tony Stark, of Ant-Man, if you want a comparable female character, Scarlet Witch had a richer backstory and they rushed it into like 20 minutes of a movie. I get that this movie was about Captain Marvel discovering herself and all that jazz, but it just wasn't done well and at the end of the day it just felt like a rushed mess.
3. Similar to point 2, Captain Marvel had basically zero character development. As has been pointed out, Carol had a lot of self discovery but close to no character development. A practically criminal offense given that there were multiple opportunities.
4. Partially relating to point 1, there were a few moments that didn't mesh well with the movie or with the MCU as a whole. For one thing, Carol was constantly being told that she needed to get a better handle on her emotions yet never displayed any failure to do so. Nick Fury's "Last time I trusted somebody, I lost an eye" line has no meaning anymore because we find out it was taken out by a cat, albeit an alien cat, but a cat nonetheless.
5. And finally, the introduction of Capt. Marvel was premature. Again, related to an earlier point, by introducing a character so ridiculously powerful and whose superpowers are literally on a galactic scale, they significantly reduced the stakes of Endgame. It also caused a lot of her scenes to be insta-wins and uninteresting. The only characters whose power can rival Captain Marvel's (at this point in the MCU), are Thor and Scarlet Witch. Thor had a long arc of discovering his power and Scarlet Witch is still discovering it through her D+ series. But the Captain Marvel movie skipped that and just took us straight to the super-powered action.
Put that all together and we end up with a movie that is neither compelling nor appealing to many people (due to its feminist themes being shoved down our throats instead of developed organically like those of Black Widow or Peggy Carter or any of the Marvel TV show women). It doesn't help that it came out closely enough to Wonder Woman that the two movies were compared to each other and Wonder Woman was better in every way (at least in my opinion). I don't want to touch to heavily on the issues with Brie Larson but the primary one is that she seemed particularly aggressive when compared to the more laid back attitude of every other MCU actor ever.
To be fair, however, I also want to detail the things I enjoyed about the movie.
1. The skrull twist was some genuinely good writing; comics aside (though from that perspective it's only better), the skrull twist was shocking, it was believable, and it carried through to later movies. The twist of the Skrulls was, quite honestly, one of my favorite twists in all of the MCU (not the top, but up there).
2. The CGI was the best in any MCU movie outside of _maybe_ Infinity War; not much more to be said on this point, it was insanely good and while the backstory might not have been engaging, the action scenes sure as hell were.
3. The feminist themes, while forced, weren't inherently bad; I don't classify myself as an anti-feminist, but I'm hesitant to call myself a feminist. The reason for this and its difference between just being a sexist are both characterized in this movie. Feminists today choose to shove their ideals down our throats, but the ideals themselves are not only worth it but (some) are ones that need to be recognized.
4. Finally, Mar-Vell's gender change, while a poor choice in my opinion, was handled better than similar such changes in popular media today; not a lot to say here either, it was just handled well.
tl:dr This movie was riddled with holes that make it uninteresting to a considerable portion of its intended audience, but it also had some highlights that are not often enough recognized. We need to take the good _with_ the bad and ultimately it's still more worth it a movie than some of its predecessors.

GET. OVER. YOURSELF. THESE ARE FICTIONAL CHARACTERS. And finally Thor, a powerful prince who thinks he's the center of everything being stripped of everything he has and brought down to be amongst the beings whom in his pride and arrogance consideres to be beneath him.
