This is one of the greatest things I've ever seen. A few of my favorite moments happen: running his hands through his hair 1:08, the hair again 1:25, his character 1:42, his hips 1:54, his little dance at 2:03, his attitude at 2:41, and basically the entire video. I love his face every time they do a close up shot. They need to make a CD of all of these recordings. I would definitely buy it (and not just because Aaron is on it).
Something that I love about Broadway actors, and it seems to be something that you find in Broadway actors but not actors who can sing, is that they have stage presence when they sing to the point where you can't just listen to them because you have to watch them if that makes sense.
I really don't think changing the pronouns in a song, as long as they don't change a rhyme or couplet, and the song still remains true to its integrity, I think its fine. Example: When Robin de Jesus covered breathe from in the heights.
+Bex S. Why does it make you sad? Thats like those who saw him in rent going off on one because of those who know him from hairspray. People who started loving him from Grease may have never heard of him before, then they get to watch such a great show and fell in love with him. Having a "I was here first" mentality is ridiculous, I only heard of him when I saw the first #outofoz having watched Les Miz and not knowing who he was in it, now i'v watched pretty much everything I could find on RUclips. Instead of being sad because he's getting bigger and more respect for his performances be happy that his fan base is growing.
Bex S. I will confess that I was first introduced to him by Les Mis... I got out of the cinema and rushed home to find all I could about him. :) It doesn't really matter where did we first saw him, what matters is that his incredible talent is admired and shown to everyone.
Kayla M Cook lbr, if anyone in Les Mis would be singing this to someone, it'd be Courf to Marius, while curling his hair and telling him about how great Les Amis are.
That "La la, la la" sounded so perfect like omg i cant even. I wish Aaron would do the whole performance, with all its dancing and little quirks! Im sure he'd be great ♡
this is a really fun video. it is not just that Tveit's voice is so pretty but his mannerisms throughout are so playful and acted out so thoroughly in character (but not overly done).
I only just found this and can't stop watching. Masterful and hilarious at the same time! Love how he acts it out with his facial expressions and body language!
Has anyone watched THE DUFF? In that movie, the popular guy helps a girl become attractive. And he takes her to the mall to buy clothes and stuff... I can't stop thinking about Aaron as the popular dude trying to help me buy some clothes for a date or showing me how to flirt with boys XD
i cry every time i see him. he's amazing, he's perfect, he's my number one favorite actor, im crying right now. im watching graceland only because he's in it, i watched grease live only because he's in it. I made earrings of his face, one of them with him as enjolras and the other with him infront of the rainbow background. can someone tell me im not crazy
why does he remind me of Damon Salvatore in this omg XD maybe it's the way he's widening his eyes and then squinting them... or just the fact that he's singing about being popular
Enjolras: I know, I know exactly what you need. And even in our case, though it’s the toughest case I’ve yet to face. Don’t worry, I’m determined to succeed. Follow my lead. And yes indeed. You Will Be Popular. Jolly: How is this going to help the revolution? Grantaire: This is exactly how you help a revolution.
just watched Aaron Tveit in American Horror Stories, I couldn't put my finger on where I new that face, but it dawned on me and I nearly leapt out of my chair. nothing thrills me more then randomly stumbling across musical royalty in other media, still giddy over Sophia Anne Caruso in Evil, and Alex Brightman in Law & Order: SVU
I have been listening to this song for 3 days. Aaron is amazing, a perfect singer and a great interpreter. I wish he had a starring role on a big blockbuster musical movie, totally deserves it.
Mandi Sherwood Actually, that's the only non-ensemble role he could do! The current and original Broadway King George, Brian d'arcy James, is a straight white man. Although there is a white swing for the Broadway version as Burr and Washington whom I saw as Burr. He was great!
I never knew how much I needed this. I simply adore watching his hand movements, and the little chuckle when he sings "offended" is perfect. Oh, Aaron...
they put this in the loveliest key for him (truly, a tenor dream) and it works so well. i’ve been coming back to this for years, and i gotta say, i actually love his interpretation of glinda very much. it could have easily veered into obnoxious, considering the gender-swap, but he gave it simultaneously such levity and depth.
I saw this musical in April 2015, because I came to London with my school. And I loved it ! This song is my favourite ! Thank you very much ! LOOOVE IT ! (I'm french). 😄❤
Make him the voice of the next Disney prince please. Just. Please.
Yesssssss!!!
my thoughts exactly!!!!!
YAS!!!! Who though?
+Grace Talley someone hot, that's all I know.
Ceirstyn Adami 100%
Wicked but everyone is played by Aaron
amanda beronilla yEs
I’d see it!
YAS QUEEN
It would still be stellar
hold up ur onto sumn
I feel personally threatened by the way he touches his hair.
+randomfangirl sensually harrassed
read that comment just before I saw it. Illegal.
same
Yes
He’s kind of aggressive about it, right?
I never knew how much I wanted reverse cast Wicked until now.
YES PLEASE
YES!!!
YES OMG AARON AS GLINDA, JEREMY JORDAN AS ELPHIE AND LAURA OSNES AS FIYERO
Madeleine Brown YAAASSSS
+Madeleine Brown this is the best thing i have ever read in my life
I can just imagine Enjolras skipping round the barricade, pointing at people, bopping them on the nose and singing this :D
I didn't know I needed that mental image until now.
U GUYS LOL!!!!!!!! I so luv your brilliant imaginations XD
Damn, that vision. Sooo cute!
The Big Bad She Wolf I love that idea!! It would be amazing :)
YES.
I love how the lighting is so serious in this
He does this so effortlessly it's amazing, it's like he's not even trying, he just knows he's that good lmao
Exactly!
For a true tenor, this is in the right key to be pretty well within range, but his voice is amazing for sure.
Of course, Enjolras would know all about being popular.
Love this😂😂😂
this comment is gold😂
IM CRYING I LOVE THIS
But he wouldn't know how NOT to die.
This is E talking to the Amis
This is one of the greatest things I've ever seen. A few of my favorite moments happen: running his hands through his hair 1:08, the hair again 1:25, his character 1:42, his hips 1:54, his little dance at 2:03, his attitude at 2:41, and basically the entire video. They need to make a CD of all of these recordings. I would definitely buy it (and not just because Aaron is on it).
+Emily Hacker same just same
+Emily Hacker Agreed. Everything, just, yes!
+Emily Hacker Yesss!!
1:42 and 2:03 is the best
also his face at the "don't make me laugh they were popular" part
Something that I love about Broadway actors, and it seems to be something that you find in Broadway actors but not actors who can sing, is that they have stage presence when they sing to the point where you can't just listen to them because you have to watch them if that makes sense.
Though I love Kristin's version and I missed her little screams and laughts, I have to admit this is pretty amazing! Man, what a beautiful voice!
+Sofia Zelco MY GOD THAT VOICE.
Oh god, this was so adorable. Flirty, flouncing, cocky...perfection.
PETITION FOR AARON TVEIT TO BE GLINDA IN THE WEST END STARTS HERE
I STAN. I SIGN
The start of the camp queen show 👍
How many papers can I sign?
YES
Here is my signature
*Aaron touches hair*
ME: I just came here to have a good time and I honestly feel so attacked right now
REAL PLEASE, ITS. JUST. FUCKING. REAL. GOD
If you watch this on mute, it kinda seems like an emotional spoken-word piece about politics or something by a rugged rural dad from the 80's.
Matt Bates it does! 😂😂😂😂
It's just Enjolras/Apollo showing through :D
MY dad
It’s his inner Enjolras shining through
I'm sure everyone who liked this comment tried this lol
I'm so glad they didn't change the pronouns
+extremedumpling Oh my god part of me dies when anyone does this to any song.
Aaron covers a lot of songs that were originally performed by women and doesn't change the pronouns.
extremedumpling people who change pronouns in songs are weak and clearly super uncomfortable with themselves lol
i hate when ppl do that esp if it means parts of the song don't rhyme anymore lmao
I really don't think changing the pronouns in a song, as long as they don't change a rhyme or couplet, and the song still remains true to its integrity, I think its fine. Example: When Robin de Jesus covered breathe from in the heights.
I just discovered this! His voice is so clean and powerful! *watches ten times*
Jeremy Jordan's She Used To Be Mine brought me here.
He should be Fiyero in the movie adaptation of Wicked
Agreed
of course
I like Aaron, but he's had his fun as Fiyero, he doesn't need to do it again. I'm rooting for Okieriete Onaodowan to get the role.
ooor, and hear me out, DAVID KLENNA
Y5hto Kraft You mean Derek Klena? Yeah, he's really not what I have in mind for the role. Joshua Henry would also be an amazing casting!
Enjolras teaching Grantaire about how to overthrow the government with popularity
When I tell you this made me choke on my water...
I would recommend this video if you want a visual for it ruclips.net/video/HNQIRbGBxME/видео.html
🤣🤣🤣🤣
He's made this song sound sexy
He makes anything sound sexy
I imagine a really cocky royal prince who’s trying really hard to be nice, but he ends up insulting the person he’s slowly becoming friends with.
I'm laughing so hard that's true 😂
This is giving me Prince Naveen vibes.
He played a great Prince in One Royal Christmas
How come none of us knew we wanted this until now?!
EmCovers bitch how about me I was even 2 years too late for this comment
Yup, I'm going to marry that man.
Hate to break it to you both, but Aaron and I are already happily married 😊
Sorry kids, but he was married to me from far before ;)
+Bex S. Why does it make you sad? Thats like those who saw him in rent going off on one because of those who know him from hairspray. People who started loving him from Grease may have never heard of him before, then they get to watch such a great show and fell in love with him. +Bex S. since Next to Normal and Catch Me If You Can. and Graceland hahaha
all I can hear is enjolras to grantaire
DUDE SAME
I was thinking Enjolras to Marius but that would work too. Lol.
Kayla M Cook lbr, if anyone in Les Mis would be singing this to someone, it'd be Courf to Marius, while curling his hair and telling him about how great Les Amis are.
here you go! ruclips.net/video/HNQIRbGBxME/видео.html
gotta love nyxrising for that ^^
When he started singing, I literally stepped back I was so blown away by his voice.
he needs to be a Disney prince please
Prince Eric in the live action Little Mermaid??
Why would any mature man want to be called a Disney Prince?
And let's face it, who isn't less fortunate than Aaron Tveit?
That "La la, la la" sounded so perfect like omg i cant even. I wish Aaron would do the whole performance, with all its dancing and little quirks! Im sure he'd be great ♡
*hears first note*
WHEN I WAS A YOUNG BOY
no, wait...
Same, fuck
SAAMMME
+sadmeme that g note
same!!!
Yep
Everyone's calling him Enjolras, and I'm just like, "Gabe...Gabriel!"
FIYERO
I laughed, then I cried
BAHAHAHA
YEEEEESSSSS!!!!!
AmityRavenclawElf still too soon
Oh Dear I had a crush on this guy when I was 12 and now that I'm 21 I still can't stop smiling when I see him
i swear sameee since Les Mis
what a perfect little cinnamon bun
Ugh, I’m so obsessed with the way he enunciates
Its honestly too technically perfect, the joke he has a difficult time pronouncing popular doesn't land.
The way he says "Don't be offended by my frank analysis" ugh beautiful
i want him to sing as long as youre mine!! (a proper recording like this)
Same
Who sang that song?
* heart eyes *
this is a really fun video. it is not just that Tveit's voice is so pretty but his mannerisms throughout are so playful and acted out so thoroughly in character (but not overly done).
I'll be curious to see how "For Good" turns out. If and when #OutOfOz gets to it.
I'm pretty sure that they already did it
I am curious to see how As long as you're mine💙💚🌾📖🏰🔮 on #OutofOZ
+GS79 Same, that and As Long as You;'re Mine. 2 of my faves along with Defying Gravity
+GS79 It is perfect and all we could all wish for!
They did it! With Kristin and Idina, it's truly perfect!!
this is something i never realized i needed in life
Just realized this was uploaded on my birthday. Greatest present ever.
Aaron: "I *know* about popular"
Me: of course you do
fr
So cool to see a different spin on this song! Good job, Aaron! Xx
Aaron is a beautiful and talented young man. He is a joy to behold.
I wish Aaron would write his own songs! His voice is incredible
I only just found this and can't stop watching. Masterful and hilarious at the same time! Love how he acts it out with his facial expressions and body language!
I just love how all the comments in this video are just Les Mis fandom spam
OMG look even he can't help but dance!
I can't even describe how good his singing is...
Has anyone watched THE DUFF? In that movie, the popular guy helps a girl become attractive. And he takes her to the mall to buy clothes and stuff... I can't stop thinking about Aaron as the popular dude trying to help me buy some clothes for a date or showing me how to flirt with boys XD
yes exactly
Oh my gosh first Les Mis now this....
IKR!!!!!!!
Aaron tveit is going to be the next Disney prince and George Blagden is going to be the prince's love interest
Ellie Cheng YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ellie C. YESSSSSS
Y'all have OBVIOUSLY not seen Next To Normal because damn he's amazing in that show. That musical is amazing in general but y'know.
I love his little dance. Its like dad dancing
i cry every time i see him. he's amazing, he's perfect, he's my number one favorite actor, im crying right now. im watching graceland only because he's in it, i watched grease live only because he's in it.
Reminds me if Stefan more 😂
I think Ric😂
I think a hint of enzo aswell
geez! why am i imagining damon, stefan, ric and enzo as enjolras now????
Someone write a tvd/les mis crossover. I'd pay to read that!
He always makes every song more beautiful
Enjolras: I know, I know exactly what you need. And even in our case, though it’s the toughest case I’ve yet to face.
Don’t worry, I’m determined to succeed.
Follow my lead. And yes indeed.
You
Will
Be
Popular.
Jolly: How is this going to help the revolution?
Grantaire: This is exactly how you help a revolution.
I just found this 2 days ago and have watched I at least 100x.... why was i so late!
Wicked in Concert on PBS sent me here. Never thought I'd see the day a former Fiyero be singing one of Glinda's songs. Tevit has a great voice
just watched Aaron Tveit in American Horror Stories, I couldn't put my finger on where I new that face, but it dawned on me and I nearly leapt out of my chair. nothing thrills me more then randomly stumbling across musical royalty in other media, still giddy over Sophia Anne Caruso in Evil, and Alex Brightman in Law & Order: SVU
Why did I have a vision of Enjolras singing this in the ABC cafe, while trying to recuit people to building the barricade?
Enjoy ruclips.net/video/HNQIRbGBxME/видео.html
"IIIII knoooow about popular" when he said that with swag you just knew this performance was amazing
This could only be improved by a little flouncing around.
I have been listening to this song for 3 days. Aaron is amazing, a perfect singer and a great interpreter. I wish he had a starring role on a big blockbuster musical movie, totally deserves it.
Anyone think he could be the next King George in Hamilton?
I'd love to see him do any of the roles in Hamilton!
Pusher Love Man Not as a straight white man, he can't.
Mandi Sherwood Actually, that's the only non-ensemble role he could do! The current and original Broadway King George, Brian d'arcy James, is a straight white man.
Although there is a white swing for the Broadway version as Burr and Washington whom I saw as Burr. He was great!
YES 🙌
I've watched this a ridiculous number of times, so funny lolol
His voice is so pure omg
Okay but the little bounce he does when he sings, "We're gonna make you popular!" is my entire lfie. He's such a sweet looking guy, I love him.
He looks like a younger version of Matthew Morrison/Will Schuster
+David Anthony Manibo there isn't actually that much difference between their ages Aaron is 32 and Matt is 37 haha :)
yeah, he actually does😄
Funny considering they are both former Link Larkins
I never knew how much I needed this. I simply adore watching his hand movements, and the little chuckle when he sings "offended" is perfect. Oh, Aaron...
Literally Enjolras when he's supposed to plan for the rebellion.
whenever I am sad I come back to this video and it never fails to make me happy.. thanks Aaron Tveit for the serotonin
Oh my. Running the hands through the hair. Small gesture, but hello...swoon. He's beautiful.
Fallen in love with his voice since watching Les Miserables. Such a great singer. Aaron Tveit is amazing
As an actor, whenever I sing I always act and watching him do the same thing is so cute
Okay, but can we just talk about the first 2 seconds of this vid when he’s smoothing his hair and how he already got me 😍💁🏽♀️
This song always reminds me of the song Chip On My Shoulder from Legally Blonde musical.
This is my favorite song in the entire musical, and Tveit is one of my favorite singers ever.. needless to say, I cried
Out of Oz is the best :) so much fun seeing these cool spins on songs that mean so much to so many
Oh, Aaron, teach me to be popular--please! He is so charming-- :)
Oh goodness Aaron. ❤️that voice is beautiful.
I love this guy so much, one of the more talented singers in Les Mis (2012). Not to be weird, but he has my heart.
Soo.... Why didn't he play Glinda?
It's so cute watching him bounce around with the music while he sings!
i was shy auditioning for Glinda, but after watching this. Fuck it! I'm Glinda!!!!
1:57 Laa Laaaa. Laaaa Laaa THWT SOUNDED SO GOOD!!!!
honestly he’s iconic
After hearing Aaron sing just one song (either this one or Defying Gravity) how can you not fall in love with him…He puts the A in AWESOME!!!
his shirt makes me feel things
I am so in love with this guy! 😍 Aaron Tveit is one hell of a talented man!
DAMN I LOVE A A RON
they put this in the loveliest key for him (truly, a tenor dream) and it works so well. i’ve been coming back to this for years, and i gotta say, i actually love his interpretation of glinda very much. it could have easily veered into obnoxious, considering the gender-swap, but he gave it simultaneously such levity and depth.
If they ever make an English adaptation of Elisabeth, I really want this guy to play Death.
Aaron. You were born for the stage, but I also love you on the tele.
hands down the best version of this song I've ever heard. I've watched this 100 times and I'm totally in love with Aaron ( as if I weren't already)
His voice is so beautiful!
why can't we buy these versions? I love this!
I saw this musical in April 2015, because I came to London with my school. And I loved it ! This song is my favourite ! Thank you very much ! LOOOVE IT ! (I'm french). 😄❤
I'm 14
this series is making my life
Ugh this is giving me LIFE today. I really needed this little boost lol. xoxo
I'm speechless.
I didn't know Mike Warren on Graceland could SING.
He's a Broadway star!!
He's a Broadway star!!
+Abby Fellows He was in the Les Mis movie.
When Aaron put his hands through his hair like that, I had a moment. Damn he is so talented and very easy on the eyes. What a voice 😍
