A few glasses of wine and grammar becomes perfect.
For guys, talk to all girls, maybe you'll even find one that sticks around to correct grammar. Lol

Live with locals, watch TV in the desired language, because then you see the action, see the object, and hear the word. Also, forget your other language. Immerse yourself.

Jim is right in what he says, having a drink and being relaxed with people that are friendly is ideal for learning. Learning Russian as I found is like learning to ice skate...When sober it is very painful but have a couple of drinks, it may be painful the day after but you may well find that you can indeed skate. After a while I found that I was actually thinking in Russian and even dreaming in Russian.

Can I give you a little advice about No5 (grammar)? Just note that most Russian words are constructs (as in many other languages). There is a root meaning and before and behind it are docked - modifiers. Foreigners are especially frightened by long words, but they are often compound. If you find the core, everything will immediately become clearer and not as scary as it sounds. And what modifiers when and how to add and insert is a matter of practice.
And one more point: traditionally, in Russia, the distance of communication is shorter, so there is no need to be afraid that you will not be understood. I hope it is already clear that the notorious Russian face is just the absence of a mask.

I would say consume content in Russian after you've got the basis. Read, listen to music, watch shows, movies, RUclips - whatever floats your boat. Read the subtitles (this is where movies and shows are generally better) - first in your first language or the language that you already speak since English is probably the most available, read lyrics and stories in Russian, read texts on the socials etc. Try to translate the ones that seem the most interesting by only using the translators for single words or phrases when you can't get the meaning, ask your friends and/or teacher about things that you don't understand / had trouble with.
    Just my 5 kopeyek.

I agree finding the right tutor can help as well as immersion to acquire language. I feel though that every learner is different some might actually like a more grammar based approach which in this case could be helpful for them. In my experience to actually talk in a foreign language needs some base knowledge of the language for you to be able to really learn from interaction with native speakers alone. I guess optimal is a mix of all these approaches.

Привет! Акцент на общении является ключевым в освоении разговорного языка, неважно какой именно язык изучается. ;)
Правда не думаю что вино поможет при изучении арабского. 😂
У тебя потрясающий акцент. Обычно акцент затрудняет понимание чужого языка, но в твоём случае всё наоборот. Акцент как бы выделяет каждое слово "более выпукло". Мне нравится.

works in context. I am married to a Russian woman and our children don't like English so I can say Russian has become my home language
because when I speak to them I speak only in Russian, When I speak to my Wife we speak both English and Russian.

"История русско-шотландских отношений долгая, но при этом ученые до сих пор не могут достоверно установить, когда именно она началась. Известно, например, что уже в 1495 году в Москву прибыл посол датского короля Христиана I Питер Дэвидсон".

Speaking Russian perfectly is hard and will take a long time to perfect, from what I understand it is very much context based and gender classification. I made some good progress using rosetta stone Russian language learning pack.
You are attacking it from the correct angle though, learning the essentials that meet your needs - the rest will slot in over time.
