I love how what you find can make a story… I imagined a policeman tracking a killer out of his jurisdiction and then getting into a scuffle while bringing the murderer to Justice and in the scuffle getting buttons torn off his coat but then coming home knowing his friend’s killer had been found. 👍
Brad, I think that the horse tack tells as much history about a site as any coin or other artifacts....so there is no problem as far as Im concerned with showing as much horse tack as you want....a treasure is a treasure.
A favorite book I've read in the past few years was Rum Runners and Revenuers, which is a book about Vermont during Prohibition. Your police buttons made me think of some back woods police chase. So very cool
Having been born in Greenfield, MA, with relatives in North Adams, that button triggered memories for me as well. Now, my son and 3 nephews are police officers. Definitely a special find.
Jackson’s warrented is what your small piece of pottery says. They had many different decorative scenic designs. I believe it’s from around early to mid 1800’s.
You know what Brad, for a place that's been detected many times in the past 40 years, you made some great finds bud! Love the hame knob, the harness bell, the pocket knife and of course that beautiful policeman's button. Thanks for taking us along on your latest adventure! - Dave
If you like metal detecting at it's finest, you'll love GMMD. I was hooked from the first video I watched and couldn't get enough. I binge watched Brad's videos until I was caught up. He's the best, he puts a lot of thought and work into his videos. Stirs the imagination, takes beautiful shots, amazing finds, he's a warm and personable man. Has a wonderful family and shares his amazing wife and adorable son Bentley. He exudes talent, plays all the music you hear... he's very creative! He is a great teacher and I love his videos. Let's not forget his friends and the laughs they bring. I'm a true fan, never thought I'd be hooked on metal detecting... But I am! Thank you Brad for giving me a window into your world weekly. I found his channel while going thru cancer, it gave me a window to Vermont's beauty when I needed a much needed window outside of my illness, I'm well now. Thank you Brad! Warmest respect... I just had to share, now I'm behind this week so I'm off to watch today's video...
Finding that police button is what I love about this hobby; that wonderous, magical feeling when you connect with the past. And when you make a personal connection, it is all the more poignant.
I went down one of the worm holes of RUclips and didn't have to go far. Found GMMD and have enjoyed every one of your videos. It cost me though, XP ORX, XP pinpointer, back pack, and few other accessories. I'm not into all the bugs that are in the forest right now, but will be getting out when the temps drop. Went out the other day on a local island I grew up on and found my oldest fine, button with Head Light on it. 1930s cover all work clothing.. Lost my control panel on that Island, must not have snapped it good enough. Two hours to back track, give up looking and stumble across it on the way back to the truck. Lesson learned. Hope the family is doing well, say hi.
When you found the North Adams button I was so happy. I live in Adams and seeing something like that was exciting. At one time Adams and North Adams were one!
Interesting 🤔 how that Mass Police button was found there??? 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Some great horse tack I enjoy seeing what they used back then! Have a great week Brad see u next week! 💕💜💙❤️
Brad I used to work in a horse barn of hunters and Jumpers for show riding and the way you can tell what the bits are is by the shape of the ring on the side what you found is a round snaffle bit thier are different bits that the horse responds to better that's why they use them ..when I rode I used a 6" eggbutt bit which ment the ring was shaped like a Egg hence forth the name ..and ZEUS that was my horse used to jump 9ft fences hope this helps have a great weekend can't wait to see what you find nxt video 😎🤙
Well done Brad on another enjoyable video. Your commentary is always interesting and I loved the aerial view of you detecting through the trees. Great work, keep it up.
I liked the fact you mentioned an old coin is an old coin, some of these bigger channels mock the fact they only found a for example "early wheatie" when some of us are limited to areas that an early wheatie is a terrific and exciting find. Say Gday to Eddie Pacoochie for me 👍
Now I know what day it is! Thanks Brad, you sweetie! Happy adventures! I love your "horse stuff".....that bit you found is huge as well! The bar shoe is great! Those draft horses were made for heavy work for sure....probably Clydesdale crosses !
love the videos. please3 give the dates of the coins u find it helps me go along wth the story spin. also i find it hard tro hear alot of ur nareraqtion to low some itmes, thank u for ur trips that take me back to a younger mans shoes AND THANK U FOR MY DREAMS . I AM BED RIDDEN AND MISS THE SMELL OF THE WOODS ECT
Hi Brad! The old horse bit is a, O-ring driving bit or straight curve. Google Mullen or Steuben type bits for reference. They were used for training, driving (ie carriages, wagons etc.) and showing. 😊
Hi, Brad. You said you'd spent all day at that location and your finds were all that you discovered. I'd say, considering how may times it had already been detected, you had quite an amazing haul. You came away with items that I think should have already been detected, so kudos to you for the coins and two North Adams Police buttons. (For once I actually recognised each of the horse items for what they were.) Hope you got to keep one of the buttons 🤞🏽Thanks for sharing 👍🏽 ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐
I loved this hunt! Very cool finds with the horse tack and the coin spill along with the police buttons! I would have enjoyed seeing you find the forks and all the other things you found but I understand if it makes a long video, but I just love metal detecting and this is how I get my fix! My health no longer let's me detect and I miss being out there! Keep on digging Brad and I'll keep watching...
The last year of Indian cent was 1909 . There was 3 different pennies minted in 1909 ! One was the Indian one cent , then there was two Wheat pennies , one Wheat has the VDB on the back and the other Wheat didn't have the VDB on the back !
@@harrybond1485 well you just included the mint marks ! I was talking about style because most say Indian penny or Wheat penny then say the mint mark ! So style wise there was only 3 ! Mint mark wise there could be even more than what you said because I'm sure that the Indian pennies had mint marks as well !
Awesome as always!! Do miss you digging stuff up! Keep the adventures coming, really look forward to Friday morning with You Brad, in the Hills of Vermont!
VERY Cool finds. I like that brass knob thing that you use to pull heavy stuff. Before your explanation I was expecting it to be a VERY big ox knob of some sort... or for rams lol.
16:53 judging by the fragment of cloth still attached, I'd say fighting with someone they where trying to arrest? Kinda like in the film Lawless, maybe the Bondurant brothers had a cousin up there 🤣 Peace Charlie 🇬🇧
Always enjoy your videos, I prospofor gold in Western Australia and find many old things , but when I’m not out I enjoy seeing what you find, I saw you find that gold nugget a while back that was cool and I love the coins and other treasures you find.
Well, now, good morning, Mr. Brad. Take me on an adventure! **The knobby thing, the piece of pottery - beauty pattern - and the police buttons. I'm glad the whole policeman wasn't down there! I still say that some of the scenery shots you get would make great puzzles. Good start to my day. Thanks.
That's what I always think. He could have his own metal detecting scenery series of puzzles. I love puzzles the harder the better. Lol ok Brad make it happen!.... you can sell them off your web page. I got some awesome foggy photos of the Kinzua Bridge I briefly looked into making puzzles. I may still do that. Awesome finds, great buttons.
Wonderful finds and video Brad….Especially the Police buttons!🤩 What was the Police doing in the woods? First thing came to mind(No, not that one! Get your minds out of the gutter!!)there must have been someone that really liked to bake sweet treats….😋🥧🍪 Eventually the Policeman gotten so fat that he burst out of his jacket! LoL😂 That would be my theory and I am sticking with it! Thanks so much sharing your day with us….GL&HH on your next adventure!🍀🧲🪙💰 Blessings send from Canada 🙏🏼♥️👋🏼🇨🇦
Oh man Brad, you found several items that I've still got in my bucket list 😃 The Hames knob and any jingle bell are the top two!! Finding those two police buttons was really cool considering your back story ☺️. Some days it's just nice to be out alone, hunting at our own pace within our own thoughts!!
2:47 is a straight bit; probably was "sweet iron". You are right, the snaffle bit has the "hinge" in the center. We love the "horse stuff"! Personally, that barn hinge would have gone into my pack for the trip home. One of your better videos, despite the blurriness. Good job, Brad!
this hobby is something else! i’ve been at it for about 7-8 yrs. i’d lose my mind just to be able to hunt a area like what you get to do! just the scenery would make my day, let alone the history of the artifacts found. soooo lucky to live where you do Brad.
that bell at 10 mins, is like the ones on a set I bought at an Amish auction. It can be re attached with a carter pin, unlike the ones that are (not sure about terms!) riveted (?) onto the leather. that auction was fun! A buyer was getting everything with only her bid, and when I bid on it, she turned around and glared at me! We got the whole set re mounted on new leather and it sang so pretty. I love your videos!
Great show Brad ! I find lots of horse related material in the fields near my house . Its always a pleasure to see that kind of stuff!! Thanks , your pal Kevin in France
Good Morning - appreciate every one of your videos-I look forward to starting my Fridays with you... Your finding another bell brought to mind to me a Wonderful old songI I've not heard in years- if I may: "Here the bells ringing , they're singing that you can be born again..." Thank you for being a part of blessing me this morning.. love to you and your family : )
Brad, I think you would have been very happy with that haul a few years ago! I think those artefacts have quite a story to tell and considering the place has been detected so much, very pleasing.
Hey Brad...just wanted to stop in buddy and say that you're the inspiration behind starting my own "WoodLand Metal Detecting" channel. So from 1 detectorist to another, just wanted to say Thank You and I hope to cross paths & meet you 1 day brother. Keep Swingin my friend, and Good luck to you buddy. ❤
It's always great when a find brings back memories. Those police buttons are pretty sweet. Plus a nice little coin spill Brad!! Happy hunting and be well
So cool that you went to college and lived in North Adams for a bit too, Brad! Same here, man! I grew up in Pittsfield though. I am now in Arizona, but I miss New England and that's why I love your videos!
I got a wheat penny in change last week! They were common, when I was a kid, and even in the 60s, my second grade teacher collected the Mercury dimes, when we bought an ice cream sandwich from her after lunch on hot lunch days. Haven't gotten one of those in change in decades! My dad metal detected in the 70s, and took us to ghost towns - great family activities!
Love watching your videos that I have a hard time hearing you even with my phone turned up. Is there any way you can fix that. It almost sounds like you're trying to be quiet in the woods.

Thx for info. Now I can skip the vieo
Yes, that is still called a snaffle bit, it is a straight snaffle. The one with the joint are called broken snaffle. Nice find!
It’s also called a James bit.
Jackson’s warrented is what your small piece of pottery says. They had many different decorative scenic designs. I believe it’s from around early to mid 1800’s.
I love all the old "horse stuff" that you find! And that big horse shoe was awesome! Those police buttons are amazing too - very cool finds!
Thanks for taking us along !! Great time!!

So cool you found the police buttons! What are the odds considering you weren't even close to North Adams, MASS!

Thank you for sharing, much love. xx ❤
My goodness, you don’t get to keep the items you fine? That’s a bummer.
Enjoyed the video. Thank you.
Now I know what day it is! Thanks Brad, you sweetie! Happy adventures! I love your "horse stuff".....that bit you found is huge as well! The bar shoe is great! Those draft horses were made for heavy work for sure....probably Clydesdale crosses !

That button was awesome! And to find a second one is even better! My grandfather was a policeman in the early 1900s in TN.

I would have taken that cool barn door hinge in a millisecond! Great finds that day!
Bunch of nice relics. Love the haims knob & police buttons.
Would love to detect around the building we're renting an apartment in. It's an old 1756 hotel in East Hartland CT. Converted to apartments.
Great job Brad, as usual :-)

Good morning Brad! Those were some good digs! Love the jingle bell and pottery chip! Police buttons are cool! T4S! Have a swingin, diggin weekend!👍🙏
pocketknives whole or broken are my most favorite finds. when you lose yours, it's upsetting. money not so much.
16:53 judging by the fragment of cloth still attached, I'd say fighting with someone they where trying to arrest?
Kinda like in the film Lawless, maybe the Bondurant brothers had a cousin up there 🤣
Peace
Charlie 🇬🇧
Very interesting finds, Brad. I love the Police button! The Hames knob is an awesome find. I love old iron! Nice!💖

How exciting to find the No. Adams button!! 'Twas meant to come to you! Wonder how it ended up in the hills of VT, torn off his uniform.

11:30 Lichen growing on that, looks like a member of the Physciaceae.
That is a day well spent. Thank you for sharing.

Good adventure today.....possibly the cloth still attached on the police button because it was torn off. At least that's my theory. Kool stuff
Awesome hunt brad thanks congrats on your finds
Once again, thank you Brad.
Blessings upon you and yours, Mr. Martin.
Good day Sir.
love all your stuff and thanks for sharing!
Brad, thank you, as always! That's a bar bit. Snaffle bits are jointed in the middle. Bar bits were used on horses with less sensitive mouths.

You speak so eloquently with such a calming tone.
cool stuff.. My family all lives in Hoosick Falls, Bennington and N. Adams.. Good to see this from here in Nashville
Every once in a while in the early 1960's in my grandparents store we would get wheat pennies in change and even Indian head but not as often
GMMD is the only reason I wake up on Friday.
Good Morning Brad!
So cool that you went to college and lived in North Adams for a bit too, Brad! Same here, man! I grew up in Pittsfield though. I am now in Arizona, but I miss New England and that's why I love your videos!
I just found your Channel and I love it. I appreciate you not dragging us through everything minute by minute. Great videos
What is so fascinating, is that, there is still material on that Police Button, wow, great find.
Great hunting. Nice little treasures there. Enjoyed watching.
That was some good finds
So cool Brad great day for you young man stay blessed and see you again on the next episode 🙏🛐👍
Great job, Brad. Awesome saves! See ya next week.
