Have you thought about collecting the larger garnets? They could be used for a give-away contest. Hint hint 😄. They would make interesting pendants, even if they aren't nice & clear, they're really pretty.
@@Laura-Kitty shoot me an email if you want some garnets. I don't normally save them but could start and send them along if you were interested in getting some. Email is in my about section.
Brad, another interesting day spent in a Vermont stream searching for another kind of treasure .. The only thing I didn't see, was a light, easy to pack, Trout Fishing Rod .. pan a few flakes and then catch a few native trout for a stream side lunch .. Thanks for sharing your adventure with us, it's always a treat.
@@JimofTheLionKings Jim, I have to admit that I do .. I actually didn't realize that they were still available .. During the 20 plus years I lived in Vermont, there was always a short Trout rod behind my truck seat rigged and ready .. Nothing beats crispy Trout tails fresh from a frying pan stream side ..
I love your videos! I’m a Vermonter and grew up scouring the ground for “pretty rocks” (I was the kid with 5 gal buckets full of rocks in my room.) Now I have kids of my own and this has inspired me to start my treasure hunts again!
Arizona Vermonter (CSJ Rutvegas grad) here, glad to see you working with 802 OA!! Thanks for showing us everything we miss about the 802!! Hit the Wallingford swim gorge for some real treasure!!! Long time subscriber to you both. Thank you!!!!!
Hey Brad... I'm a 67yr old, retired guy who always wanted to go out in the wild using a metal detector. Also, I've been a rockhound my whole life. Gemstones withstanding I'm seeing a fortune in rocks for my aquariums. I've paid fortunes for rocks at the Tropical Fish stores and never plucked them out of the wilderness. Although my eyes are on the rocks in many of wildlife vids on RUclips. Diehard rockhound. Thank you for every one of your vids as I'm now a new subscriber who really enjoys your uploads. So much luck in the future and peace be with you.
Great work, gents. I grew up gold panning streams near my hometown in Vermont. Nothing more exciting than seeing that color, no matter how little, in the pan on a hot New England day. Hope to see you both out again soon!
I picked up quartz gravel in Maine in 1995, out of a dirt road. Each piece had a vein of gold. The locals know of the gold, but the quantities of gold isn't enough to pay for your time. The only way to reclaim the gold is to break the rock down to dust. Best place to find gold is a metal culvert.
My grandpa always swore there was gold in our brook As kids we thought he was just telling us a whopper of a tail but maybe there was something to it now that you shown us. Have to get those Pans out
I spoke to soon bc I'm playing catch-up backwards! Looks like fun! Remember to look on your white quartz rocks for hangers, nuggets! Great finds always!
I freaking love my toe shoes. There is nothing stealthier when stalking deer, other than true moccasins, in the fall. There is also nothing more comfortable in the streams when I'm fishing. I've watched 2 videos now in the last 30 minutes and I believe I'm hooked.
Don't worry about the toe shoes Brad. I teach middle and high school and used to wear them to school and got the same reaction from my students. It bothered me at first...until I started seeing a few students wearing them too. Keep standing out and being a trend setter Brad. Jim Parry, Backroads Metal Detecting
Hi, Brad. Finally got around to watching the video. Good company with a coffee on a Saturday morning. Nice but of gold, too. Your friend, Scott, did very well. Btw, this 60+ yo thinks your 'toe' shoes are awesome. Thanks for sharing. Stay healthy and safe 👍🏽 ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐
How fun! Not only gold panning, 90° weather spent in a spring... Awesome! You both found quite a lot of gold! "There's gold in them there hills!" Nice day... thank you, see you next week.
I have an old buddy who has been gold-panning in Scotland for many years, before it became well known. He has/had a collection of medecine bottles full of flakes and dust. He's had rings and bracelets made, paid for a vehicle upgrade and this was a hobby! He is a meticulous record keeper and knows to within a half-metre where he has worked before.
I grew up in Vermont and I never knew there was gold. I played in the brook that flowed through my little town practically every day, too. Gonna have to go check it out when I go back to visit my parents!
I just found you again! My Dad and Mom introduces me to your channel and I need to binge watch this weekend. You always have such cool information and what a fun day panning for gold! I have heard of national parks where you can pan for gold of gems, but never thought to check locally... more likely copper here in MI, but still a fun excursion!
In 1981 after the eruption of Mt. St. Helen, there was an additional overcast and extra snow lasting into May. I went to the Pelham (MA) "asbestos mine" about 15 miles from U Mass Amherst with my gold pan and using a puddle of melt water, I panned the mix of broken mine rock and soil, recovering several pale milky blue sapphire crystals. They are like a quarter inch by a half inch and the sides have bits of biotite mica embedded in, I still have one.
LOL! Not the toe shoes! If I were panning with you, it wouldn't matter what shoes you were wearing. In fact, doesn't matter anyway. I enjoyed you having such a good day and sharing it.
Really injoy your videos the way you mack them I got a lot to learn the amount of time I have and will learn more as I get on but watching your videos dose help me lot thank you brother tezzza 👍
20 years ago we went from West Point to vermont for this...I had built a small sluice and everything. It was April and the melt had the streams too high...it was fun though
I knew about gold in Vermont but it takes a lot of patience to get anything substantial.Quartzite is usually an indication of gold in the area.If you didn’t mention the toe shoes I would’ve never noticed lol.
Why do folks hate toe shoes? Don't knock it if you haven't tried it!! They look perfect for being in the stream bed the way you are. And what a beautiful area you are in. Trees, water, mountains and sunshine... Perfect Day! Oh Yah, and your good friend Scot to share it all with. WIN WIN
Ohhh! I love gold panning! I’ve only done it in N California when I visit family. Someone told me you can find gold and gemstones in VT streams, but I didn’t believe it! As a native Vermonter..I am inspired! Have you guys considered getting a group together.. maybe doing some lessons? I believe I can guess where you are..if the source was legit.
Should be a little better known When I was at EMS in Diamond Run Mall people came asking for pans. There was one place in Rutland that sold them bit it wasn't EMS

What a great excuse to sit in a stream on a hot day! (Fly fishing would be the other excuse)
I always look forward to your videos each week. It makes me nostalgic for the 802.
Great fun. You'll get more in the pan if you hold it under the surface of the water as you gently shake the heavies down to the bottom.
What a fun day! What a great life!

Pretty good haul there, Mr. Brad. I've got a pair of the toe shoes myself. Haven't worn them for a while though.

That would be a great place to use a dredge, loved it!
You need a state permit to use a sluice there. Not sure about a dredge
Love the video as usual... Garnet being my birthstone, I love the dodecahedron shape
