The Dunwich Amps Witchfinder is a highly modified version of the Boss FZ-2 Hyperfuzz. Compared to the original, the 3 way mode switch has been removed along with the Boost mode. Fuzz 1 and Fuzz 2 have been simplified where instead of a fixed mid-cut there is now an active mid range control with a 3-way center frequency toggle.
The High/Treble and Low/Bass controls are active and are retained from the original design. Each of these controls, along with the Mid control, allows you to either cut or boost the signal depending on where you set the control relative to the upright / noon position.
The fuzz circuit is toggled via this footswitch on the left, while the octave up effect that is inherent to all Superfuzz / Hyperfuzz style designs can be toggled via the second footswitch on the right.
Mids - The left most toggle changes the frequency range over which the Mid knob operates: Lower Mids / Standard Mids / Upper Mids. When the Mids toggle is set all the way left and the mid control is set to minimum, the circuit will match the original mid-cut notch.
Mode - The center 2-way toggle switch that changes the texture of the clipping in the circuit from a more glitchy, octave based clipping to a smoother more modern fuzz sounding clipping.
Clipping - The far right 3-way switch which can swap the clipping diodes from the original symmetrical Si diodes to no clipping diodes to Red LEDs.
Clean Blend sets the ratio of effected to dry signal on the output of the circuit.
Octave mix controls the amount of octave up mixed into the main signal during octave mode.
Boost sets a the gain boost level when in non-octave mode.
Fuzz control sets the amount of fuzz

Why do you demo luxury posh pedals through such trash as Orange Crush 20? That's for bedroom players. Do bedroom players need (and often buy) expensive gear like that? No. And if we're talking about doing a serious review for people who are actually considering this pedal for live use with band then this is completely useles as well. So who does this review serve? I don't get it. Sorry.

I'm a bedroom player and I play a Verellen Model T with Fuzzlord, Blackhawk, Dunwich, and Abominable Electronics pedals. I'm also not very posh
As an owner of a Crush20, Crush120, Dual Dark 50, and a 6505+! Also an assortment of affordable pedals to “luxury posh” pedals! I’ve found these reviews to be very well serving! I play bedroom/den and live shows/practice with my band Cryptdweller. The review simply shows the array of sounds you can get out of the pedal, so you don’t necessarily need to use a high end tube amp to do so. And to call the Crush series trash shows your level of ignorance! For a solid state amp, the Crush series is fantastic and I would refer them to any beginner as well as seasoned musicians who just want something to jam on! But by all means, continue to display your blatant ignorance🤣👍🏼
Well, in that case I can only envy the bedroom players from your continent and say "good for you, lads." Still, that does not really fix the fact of the setup (expensive pedals through Orange Crush series) being non-informative for people who play in a band and looking for dependable review. Otherwise well done. Thanks for answer and the effort, I mean that ;-)

Cool vid! I fund alot of videos of how to sound like EW but I wish there was someone who made a video about the ambient sounds at the begining of songs like Retrurn Trip or Doom-Mantia. Maybe it is a simple trick but I've always found it interesting and nobody ever seems to notice those cool ambient sounds. Cheers!

For stuff like supercoven I find a phaser, wah and delay does the trick. EW used a lot of synthesizers for ambient effects

aw man? why would someone take the boost out? that's easily as useful as the two fuzz modes. i want a sturdier version of the behringer that i'm currently using and that knocks this right out of the running.

Yeah, it’s awesome. Just showed up here a few days ago. Well worth the wait! The LED’s are bright on all Dunwich pedals.
Earthquaker have bright lights too you can dim them with tape they are bright for dark stages most likely
You do a great job at always going through each setting/pot value combination. Was there one combo that you liked better? It'd be cool to highlight that at the end or something

I know exactly what you're talking about... wouldn't surprise me if Trent or any of the live band used some iteration of the superfuzz/hyperfuzz, fits almost perfectly.

Cool pedal, but all the knobs and switches would drive me crazy. Too many options.
A bit overwhelming at first but not bad once you work with it a bit. Pretty incredible take on the circuit imo.
Somewhere on youtube there's a decent review of the DoD boneshaker, which is an overly complicated fuzz. Volume, gain, "depth", plus a 3 band parametric EQ for a total of 9 knobs. I bought one when they were 40 bucks, but it's almost too complicated.
Cool pedal! Also when the pedals active it’s not super noisy and causing unnecessary feedback, though I suppose that could be how you recorded the video but still nice pedal.

I'm not sure if it's the pedal or the recording, but there are some serious volume ebbs and flows in this video.
There is a lot of volume change going on depending on the settings with all the tone knobs being active, the blend functions, etc. I don’t post-process anything, so no compression, normalization, etc.

Did Jus use a different setup for Witchcult Today? The guitar tone sounds a lot different compared to EW earlier releases.
Yes. For many years now he has been using the Boost mode of the FZ-2, not the fuzz modes.

EverettDudgeon138 I haven’t, but that’s a really cool idea. Will add it to the list. When I taught one of the Witchcult era tracks, I did use the boost mode on the pedal, iirc.

Mine is an older one from the early 2000's. Really cool cab. It has Celestion G12T-100 speakers (Hot 100) which amounts to 400W.
