Thanks a lot for the incredible and clear review. I was digging into subwoofers and, ohhhhhhhh! What a deep sea to dive into! You really made my day today! I've got it! I'll get the Cambridge X301! Thank you so very much! You've been so helpful! Thank God I find you! Greetings from Spain!
Cambridge Audio Minx X301 spectacular and amazing sound, thank you :-)
Best regards from South America :-) Blessings . . . .
What is the material used for the 8 inch cone?
I agree
I love Cambridge Audio Minx :^) thanks.
The Wharfedale sw150 kicks ass I have two 😃
Loved the review. Nice and informative, and a polishing lesson included (could be useful for my guitars I suspect). A well deserved beer is on its way :)
Thank you, very much appreciated.
Your set up looks really good, only have a small living room myself but managed to get s 5.1 set up with the cambridge audio mini minx 22 with 5 speakers, x301 sub (i paid the 400) and sony dn1080, does me well for limited space, maybe need to change my centre channel, would like to have the floor standers one day though, reciever has served me well and should support the upgrade but im no expert
I've got that wharfedale sub and it takes a lot to get it set up right. Positioning etc. When you do for the price I think its amazing.
I have the same problem in my second system.how have you set yours up?
Nice! Given that I heard the comparison with headphones, and then there is the video compression, it seems that the bigger one is more deep, can go lower in frequency which is usually expected. I would stick with the bigger one and try tune the volume and equalisation 😁
Love this channel. One of the few with stuff I might actually buy.
Very good video !
Great video, so good it convinced me that the Cambridge Audio minx x301 was the sub that I need to buy, space being at a premium and don't need a huge bass bin. I did take a look at the x201 but wasn't quite convinced. Just a thought, have you thought about using a polishing compound for cars? Something like Meguiars Scratch X or an Autoglym equivalent, they're gentle and with a bit of the old elbow grease I'm sure you'd be able to totally get rid of those scratches. Now, where's that delivery van got to?
simply said (and heard!), the cambridge is punchier, more controlled. well done; thanks!
Try "menzerna super finish 3500" for the scratches, works very well on most Piano Finishes. No machine needed, works well by hand.
Nice comparison, both subs sounded great.
I have a room which is about 4mtrs square with a open plan ending, which would you recommend...im thinking the Cambridge audio.
Thanks for taking the time review both these products, very helpful.
Yes, probably the CA. The Wharfedale would be more suited to a larger room.
Them scratches would definately buff right out.
T cut the scratches out and get some siicone spray just a bit light wipe off you wont see the scratches you will find it all down the local moto factors common things used in car valeting the T cut is used to take scratches out of paint (dont go over the top or you will take the paint or lacquer off) the siicone is used on car plastics to give them a new shine i.e dash boards bumpers but will hide the scratches thats left just apply it once in a while little spray light wipe off or normal Vaseline but its a bit messy= silicone is the boy.
shame you didnt compare them to the small x201 one in the same time it would be awesome
speaker companies use t cut for polishing
Good video, I am looking to buy a good subwoofer, so I watched this comparison very intently, I intend to use my subwoofer as an add on to my hi-fi set-up, rather than a home cinema set-up, though of course that will help with movies no doubt, but my priority is buying a subwoofer that has a good tight musical bass, so out of these two I would certainly go for the Cambridge Audio, simply because it would blend in better with my music, nothing worse than a sloppy bass when playing the Beatles for example, So, at the moment I am also looking at a Q Acoustics 3060S which is available from RS for £239, which is just short of the mid-way point between these two here, I have a pair of Q Acoustics 3050i floor standing speakers, so likely to keep to the same brand for matching purposes, but the reviews of the 3060s are very positive, especially with music (apparently).
I've had all 3 and for music I'd go with the 3060s.
@@UTILITARIANTVUK Thank you.
The Minx sounds completely uncontrolled to me! I half expected it because of its bass radiators which are obviously undriven and uncontrolled. The Wharfedale is better imho.
Hi. Love the review. This may sound like a silly question, but when you connect via RGB, is the volume controllable from the ‘source/amp’ in tandem with the monitors? Appreciate your thoughts?
Sorry, do you mean RCA line level?
@@UTILITARIANTVUK sorry, yes. I was having a brain fart.
Most pre outs and sub outs are variable, meaning they are controlled by the volume.
@@UTILITARIANTVUK Appreciate the reply. I’ll be considering adding a sub to my set up. My bookshelf units just don’t quite scratch my low-end itch, as it were…
Thanks again.
Didn’t need a demo on brasso
I'm going to demo dish washing liquid in my next video, so look out for that one! 👍
The x301 is VERY controlled and It's easy to think it's not powerful when in reality it's just not colouring the sound. I've had mine for 7 months now, paired with a pair of CA Minx XL Flagship bookshelf speakers and it's a superb combo. I may add a second x301 so that each speaker has a sub. Nice pickup for 90 quid!
Would the X301 be worth getting if I live in an apartment with thin walls?
Do you like your neighbours?
@@UTILITARIANTVUK Not really lol my neighbours below are noisy gits but I have neighbours above too so I have to be careful.
@@rupe82 it would probably affect downstairs more than the ones above. GET IT! 😄
@@UTILITARIANTVUK Ok I'll get one. Thanks 👍
@@rupe82 there's also an x201, which is a little smaller.
It is contain microphonr jack
no microphone jack
It is not to be used karaoke singing
@@songokuo5131 no 👍
What is the used of that stuff
