    I love Crassulas too. I just got 2 new ones. Crassula Atropurpurea and Crassula Atropurpurea V. Watermeyeri. They are so cool. How is the weather where you live? It is getting hot in The Netherlands. I did clean all my outside plants .Sempervivums, Sedums,Saxifragas and all the others last weekend. I am so happy to see the sun back. Do you have any Saxifragas? I bought a few variaties last year. OMG they survive the winter very wel. I am surprised to see how strong they are. They look perfect Marija. No damage leaves at all. They are even stronger than a ffew Sempervivums varieties that l have.. I am going to get more Saxifragas this spring. I don't see them often acctually. I need more plants that can survive the winter. The Graptopetalums did also very wel. They are so strong. Do you have any plants outside? I can't remember any video about it? Nice seeing you back. Nice day xxxxx

It’s always fun to add new Crassulas to our collection.😊 I have a lot of plants outside. I planted every plant in our landscape. I will make video about it later because we still have freezing temperatures. Plants can’t go out till middle of May but I have some hardy plants outside. Hostas, hydrangeas, hyacinth, bleeding heart, Lilly of the valley etc. 😊 I can’t wait to be outside!!! This weekend was so windy so I couldn’t even go for a short walk!

You started with such a small pot (as I have now, with for stalks in it) and now you have so many stalks! Were those all from your propagation for do they sprout babies around them? Thank you again! Hi. Great video!! I’m new at growing succulents. My string of buttons has two new tiny little brown circular spots on the leaves near and/or closest to the edges. It’s in a window ledge facing the east, but the buildings east of me block the sun for the most part until it’s mostly in the south. Probably gets about 2-3 hours of sun. I also have my horizontal blinds closed 70-80%. Can you help me figure out why these spots are forming? It’s in cactus/perlite in a well draining pot. Watered only when completely dry. Thanks 🙏

    • @succulentlivingbymarija8872
      @succulentlivingbymarija8872  6 лет назад

      tmkafer hi there! 😊 they do need more light than few hours and they also need good air flow. Mine has some brown spots right now because it was humid a lot and this is their resting period when they need less moisture. Can you take it outside?

    • @TurtleTimeVoiceOvers
      @TurtleTimeVoiceOvers 6 лет назад +1

      Succulent Living by Marija
      Yes I can take it outside. Just in the summer only. How much time would you say? I have seen videos that said direct sunlight or at least direct light for too long causes sunburn. So I hadn’t opened the blinds more. Sounds like it is OK to open them? Because it would get a lot more light if I opened the blinds. I thought the brown spots might be sunburn or bugs. You don’t think so? Does lack of enough light cause these?

    • @succulentlivingbymarija8872
      @succulentlivingbymarija8872  6 лет назад

      tmkafer Crassulas are prone to fungus so I think it might be due to moisture and lack of air circulation. Outside it’s better for them as long as they have cover and don’t sit out on rain. I keep mine 6 hours direct sun and it’s not burned just now getting reddish on edges. When it’s too much sun they get pale yellow but as soon as they are back inside they get green again.

    • @TurtleTimeVoiceOvers
      @TurtleTimeVoiceOvers 6 лет назад +1

      Succulent Living by Marija
      Great thanks. I will put them on my deck, I live in a town home. They will get West light for about the amount you recommended. Maybe that will prevent brown spots.? More sun = Less fungus (?). They definitely get enough air circulation since they are in my kitchen where I have a small fan that runs all of the time. I’m in a very dry low humidity state. Is there anything else that spots could come from since it’s well circulated and dry? Just don’t want to kill it since it’s only a few inches high. ;-)

    • @succulentlivingbymarija8872
      @succulentlivingbymarija8872  6 лет назад

      tmkafer hm... I would just observe it and if they don’t spread it will be fine. Gradually expose it outside to sun and I think it will be alright.

    I know this video is old but hoping you might still see this… I have a Crassula that I got in a tiny nursery pot that is HUGE after about 3 years. It grows like crazy and I’ve propagated it many times but for some reason the roots are very shallow. Sometimes if it’s bumped into the roots will easily come up out of the soil. I’ve only repotted it once because it’s over a foot tall but tips over because of shallow roots. Any advice on how to encourage deeper rooting?

    • @succulentlivingbymarija8872
      @succulentlivingbymarija8872  Год назад

      I just bought richer soil with nutrients and worm castings and repotted some if my plants. So you can do that. I also have videos on what happens to a plant after certain number of years and many propagations. In cases like that I may take cuttings and throw away years old root system and start fresh. Are you talking about string of buttons or some other plant?

    I wasn't aware that these are dormant in summer! No wonder it's taking forever to root a stem, it is actually woody stem. Leaves looked dry wrinkly & started water therapy, it perked up but after replanting, leaves started to dry up again. I still have stems in water, is that good?

    • @succulentlivingbymarija8872
      @succulentlivingbymarija8872  6 лет назад

      Christina Eilers it’s hard to root woody stems and if they get dark in water and have no roots I would just cut closer to the green part of stem. String of buttons looks sad while rooting so leaves may look dehydrated

I leave then facing south directly so I don’t think that’s the issue... maybe airflow is not good ... the only time I had black color leaves on other succulents was when there were fungus issues or rot even it’s not root rot but rot of the middle of the succulent. HELP PLEASE! Last year around August I got a baby crassula perforata at school. I took care of my succulent very well as the semester went on and kept it by my window in my dorm room. I followed all the directions given to me and they worked for a while! But now, since I have moved back home for the summer my plant has outgrown (stretched out) its pot and I decided to re-pot it in a terracotta pot and I have noticed that it started looking a bit sadder each week. Right now, my poor plant has a whole stem that is completely dead and three other large stems that I am trying to save and keep from dying. I have researched a bit and my plant seems to be showing signs of over-watering and a little bit of under-watering as well and I am not sure what to do to save it! I thought about propagating it cause there is a stem that has started to grow its own roots, but I am honestly scared to cause I don't want to harm the plant anymore. Also, I tried looking at the roots of my plant, which probably wasn't a good idea, but by lifting the plant a little bit from the soil I saw that the plant's roots were short and barely had any soil on them. So I am guessing that the roots did not assimilate properly in the new pot? I am not sure...I am honestly so lost and I don't want my first plant to die on me like this. PLEASE HELP ME )': P.S. sorry for such a long comment /: I really would appreciate your guidance.

    • @succulentlivingbymarija8872
      @succulentlivingbymarija8872  5 лет назад +2

      Amber Yap could be different reasons for change maybe less light or watering issues. Either way you can save it. You can cut tops off with two to three pairs of leaves and place them on top of dry soil. After about five days start spraying top of soil to simulate rooting. I have done this many times and started new plant. Crassula perforata grows pretty fast.
